Hi all, hope everyone is doing well!

@MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat sorry to hear you have covid, hope you feel better soon!

@EastMidsGem glad to hear things were fine with spine and heart and you seem well equipped with the club foot, hopefully when you have your next scan, it will be minimal as possible 🤞🏻

@GinnyBee @aNewYorkerInLondon I’ve had the bbhugme about a month and absolutely love it. I sometimes find myself rolling back but have just put my hair in a bun and it’s stopped me rolling back as much. I sat in it wrapping up my presents for Xmas and it was a literal back saver. I also like to use it to lean forward sat up with while OH rubs my back/neck to support my body and works really well for that too so hope you enjoy ☺️

@fattycatty82 the Seraphine bamboo leggings are amazing too. Definitely the best pair I’ve purchased but not too supportive for outside the house but have decided they will be my leaving hospital pair! I got some freerider leggings for support outside the house and much prefer them for support.

I’ve signed up to B&BC as I liked their structure and a lot closer to me but have heard good things on NCT classes. I’ve also bought the pregnancy pack and hypnobirthing pack from positive birthing company. Half way through pregnancy pack and enjoying so think I will buy the post partum one too

Afternoon Everyone! 👋🏻

Plodding along here. Majority of Covid symptoms have gone/eased; though my bunged up nose has now become snotty. Despite being double-jabbed and boosted, my husband has been having a much rougher time of it (zero energy, awful awful cough, bones aching, and raised temperature) but now much better (thank god).

Loving the talk about body pillows. Husband bought me a U-shaped one for Christmas, as well as a wedge pillow, and they are so comfy.

I haven't looked into NCT classes yet - I really should. My sister-in-law has learnt me a lot of reading material and recommended the Positive Birthing Company course. Planning to start looking into all of this in the new year.

I haven't put a lot of thought into the birth ATM. From conversations I've had the midwife, I'm not going to know what my options are until I'm 38 weeks - it all depends on how smoothly the pregnancy goes. I'd be interested to know if anyone else is having a similar experience?

Minster2012 · 28/12/2021 14:20

@LS2020 or @fattycatty82 can you help with the seraphine sizing please? I'm usually a 10, probs a fairly small 10 and it says "small is an 8-10
And medium a 10/12" what's the sizing like please? Will also look into freerider

@EastMidsGem I agree with you that actually a club foot is a minor thing ❤️though course we want perfect babies ideally

fattycatty82 · 28/12/2021 14:24

@Minster2012 I'm a 12 and get the size 12 but I'd say it comes up big which I want for further down the line

Minster2012 · 28/12/2021 14:47

Thanks @fattycatty82 I shall prob get a medium then! Looking at the thermal ones for dog walking 😂

aNewYorkerInLondon · 28/12/2021 17:58

@Minster2012, I have a curvy bottom (well I guess a curvy everything now 🤣) and small waist, and before I was pregnant I would wear a 14 trousers (and have the waist taken in).

I have the Seraphine bamboo leggings in medium, but the Seraphine opaque black leggings in large. Both fit, but the ladies at the shop say that the bamboo ones run big. I think it's pretty safe to size down if you're between sizes.

Bubbasmama2017 · 28/12/2021 19:55

I did NCT with my first pregnancy and have a great group of friends from it, I don't remember a lot of the birth and breast feeding information however so might see if there is a local NHS one running this time around or some free online courses as don't really have the funds for a paid course.

Minster2012 · 28/12/2021 20:47

@aNewYorkerInLondon thank you very much that's great

On the nct we only did the nhs antenatal classes first time round & it was still very helpful & also a lot of the ppl then went to baby classes held at the centre too (which were free) so that was good

LS2020 · 29/12/2021 08:22

@Minster2012 I’m probably a similar size to @aNewYorkerInLondon (14 on bottom and a small waist) but I’m quite tall (5’10) so I get the large and that fits me fine and as everyone’s said they’re quite roomy. I think depends on the fit you want, if you want to be form fitted go for small, if you want to slob out in in your later months go for a medium?

Bubbasmama2017 · 29/12/2021 09:09

I'm struggling to find out any information about NHS antenatal classes in my area, I live in a large village but not super rural so I'm surprised there isn't much on offer and a bit disappointed! I think I'll ask the midwife when I see her next is that at 24/25 weeks?
There is one you can pay for but seems to be yoga focused which I haven't done for years!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 29/12/2021 10:00

@Sarah239, I slept using my Kolbray c-shaped pillow last night and it was like heaven. I only got up to pee once and no hip or back pain woke me at all. I felt so much better this morning. Worth every penny!

I'm going to visit my parents in the States in a couple of weeks and I'm already anticipating missing my pillow!!! 🤣

fattycatty82 · 29/12/2021 10:06

Baby nesting is in full force today! Expecting a John Lewis delivery with some big items including next to me crib and baby bath (exciting!) so told other half he needs to sort his junk from top floor ASAP! It's become a dumping ground for his random crap... there's even a snow board up there ffs and he hasn't been skiing in 5 years. Predicting a row by end of the day but I'm ready for it 🤣

We rarely argue but our biggest conflict is always something to do with the fact that he's a bit of a hoarder and keeps things from his teenage days and I get rid of anything I don't use/need pretty quick. I just feel clear headed when my home is clear too.

Minster2012 · 29/12/2021 10:23

@LS2020 thank you so much, I made an order yesterday so 🤞🏻
Also made quite a hefty H&M order with lots of bits in so should be sorted for wardrobe for a while!

Anyone else thinking oh god last year over Valentine's Day it was snow & often feb March are colder than the winter?? Maybe just me 😬

fattycatty82 · 29/12/2021 10:52

@Minster2012 I'm dreading it! I was planning on being somewhere hot and lovely for my 40th at the end of March but now I'm working to save holiday for Mat leave 😂 I hate winter. On the plus side, everyone keeps saying how spring/summer is a lovely time to have a baby!

Anyone know the rules for taking a baby to the beach? I guess it's a bit risky before 6 months old

SouthwestSis · 29/12/2021 11:38

Why would it be risky taking a baby to the beach? As long as you take a tent or parasol to keep them out of direct sunlight, put them in sensible clothing and use sunscreen then I don't see a risk

fattycatty82 · 29/12/2021 11:56

@SouthwestSis my mum was horrified when I suggested it!! I love my beach days so glad there's a way round it. Oh dear, I need to do some more reading. Was so long ago since I had my daughter I feel like I'm doing it for the first time all over again

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 29/12/2021 14:11

@fattycatty82 we have a little beach tent we used for taking ours to the beach when they were babies, not expensive and folds up small and good for keeping the sun off them if it’s very hot.

Minster2012 · 29/12/2021 17:54

Yes everyone keeps saying that to me as well @fattycatty82! And we went to Majorca when DS was 11 weeks old, I'm not aware of any rules, he happily went on the beach, I mean all they do at that stage is lie around 😂we are hoping to go abroad in 2022 before baby is too mobile as it's just so easy when they are young as you just take them everywhere with you! (He was also born in the heatwave of 2018 when our room in our house was 30degrees so the uk was the same heat as when we went to Majorca!)

LS2020 · 29/12/2021 19:05

@fattycatty82 no one told me this either and I’ll be taking my little one to Gran Canaria in September once they’ve had their jabs! 😂 But same reasoning as @Minster2012 take them before they’re too big and want to run off everywhere! My friend deffo took her baby to beach before 6 months, should be fine in shade and with cream on etc x

robyna · 29/12/2021 20:40

I've been in so much pain today, all down my left side (hip, leg, bum) is killing me. I'm pretty sure it's sciatica but either way I can barely walk today 😭 It's so bad that my fiancé has ordered me a new pregnancy pillow, think he's sick of me whinging ha. My current one is v shaped and it just doesn't seem to be giving me enough support so I've ordered one you can wrap around you a bit more.
Anyone else struggling with sciatica or pains?
Also think I have a trapped nerve in my neck/shoulder too as that's been playing up. I feel like a 70 year old woman not a 27 year old 😂😭

Minster2012 · 29/12/2021 20:58

Completely agree @LS2020 and all our friends actually said to us to go away when they are small as past one it's more tricky. However tbh we then went away just before his first birthday to Greece & all good but more exhausting& we wanted to keep his routine more

@robyna that doesn't sound good I hope it eases & the pillow helps

YummyMummyXoX · 29/12/2021 21:11

Hope everyone is doing ok can't believe we are all well into 2nd trimester now 🙂
@robyna my hips are so sore due to being immobile and spending a lot of time in bed when I was riddled with hyperemisis defo feeling the effects now. Had pregnancy physio and have exercises to do and have to wear a day bump band and night one. Physio thinks it will just get worse now and it's just about managing symptoms. I do hope you find comfort from new pillow I'm going to try one this week.
Had 20 week scan today it was amazing. She has unmistakably big lips like me and was pouting and sucking the whole time.
How is everyone feeling with symptoms, appetite movements etc X

robyna · 30/12/2021 12:30

@YummyMummyXoX that sounds awful, has the pregnancy band helped? I find getting up and walking around definitely helps me but it's painful at first.
Good news about the 20 week scan! Our baby definitely has my nose 😂 nausea is coming back and appetite is going away again but it's fine because she's constantly reminding me that I'm doing this all for her by kicking me every 2 minutes.

aNewYorkerInLondon · 30/12/2021 16:23

Anyone else having days where all you want to do is sleep? Some days I feel totally normal and other days (like today) the littlest things, like folding laundry or walking down to get the mail are just exhausting.

fattycatty82 · 30/12/2021 16:39

Yeah I've had one of those days today. I woke up at 4am for no reason so started off the day feeling tired even after a lie in I've been absolutely shattered and really achy too. I've been in the gym every day this week, been sorting the baby stuff and cleaning, loads of energy.... now on sofa, walking up the stairs seems like a mission!!
