I don’t know who else to talk to so thought I’d type it here. I am absolutely petrified every step of the way, from being scared I am going to miscarry to premature birth to still born and the biggest worry is that I bring the baby home and he/she dies 😞 I don’t mean to be negative I’ve just watched it happen to quite a few people and rather than focussing on all the people with healthy babies I am focussing on the ones that died 😞 I’ve just sat here and cried for the past hour whilst working.

Wellthiswasunexpected · 17/11/2021 16:15

Ohhh @Clomid1 :( I promise you you’re not alone. I know that doesn’t make it easier but I think sometimes pregnancy is painted as this wonderful thing that’s all sunshine and roses once you get the BFP and the reality, especially if you’re already an anxious person, is so entirely different it’s a horrible shock. I’m with you x

alittlebitofsparkle35 · 17/11/2021 16:27

Sorry to hear that you're struggling @Clomid1 I'm with you in that I thought pregnancy would be very different (whereas in reality find myself worrying and feeling sick constantly!!) Have you spoken to your midwife about how your feeling?

@Prema112 Congrats on your scan! Beautiful scan picture 😍

alittlebitofsparkle35 · 17/11/2021 16:27

*you're

4thtimethecharm · 17/11/2021 16:27

@Clomid1, it is quite scary, and bad things do happen occasionally. But as you said, the vast majority of people have uneventful pregnancies and see they babies grow up.

Try to keep in mind what you can control, and that is only your own actions. Anything else is out of your hands, and we will just have to trust God, the universe, fate, or whatever you believe in. For now, you have made it this far in your pregnancy. Try to take it one day at the time.

If you find yourself struggling to turn these concerns off and they start stressing you out on a regular basis, it might be worth bringing it up with your midwife.

alittlebitofsparkle35 · 17/11/2021 16:35

@AlbatrossSociety I'm hoping my scan will be on the 9th December too 🤞 I still haven't had my letter through but my midwife said they only do them on Thursdays near me so it'll either be the 9th or 16th. I can't cope with it being the 16th as I'd be 13+5 weeks then and just want it as soon as possible!! Absolutely no patience 😂 Just counting down the days to 12 weeks!!

destiEos · 17/11/2021 17:09

@Prema112 wow! How exciting 🥳 Little one looks so 'real'. I can't believe I have another 2 weeks to wait til my 12-week scan and still think I'm going to be equal parts terrified and excited 😬

@Clomid1 I'm so sorry you're going through such a tough time, I can only echo what others have said about how little control we have over these sorts of things happening and how low the chances are. I had hoped it would be a wonderful ride, but it seems(so far) that pregnancy is something of a rollercoaster of ups and downs. I'd also suggest chatting to your midwife or even a quick call to the Samaritans to just talk out your fears. I think it's the most normal thing in the world to be scared during something as huge as pregnancy - use all of your support system, including here - I'm no counselor but sometimes being heard is useful 💕

rathernotshare · 17/11/2021 17:18

Well, looks like I'll be having surgery before Xmas to remove this cyst. Increased risk of miscarriage, terrified.

Willow1981 · 17/11/2021 17:23

Had my glucose tolerance test today. So now merrily eating chocolate while I wait for the results!

Fantastic scan. Can't wait to see more over the next few weeks. Mine is 30th.

ALHCTPS · 17/11/2021 17:29

@MrsNT Pregnancy makes you alarmingly stupid. It’s a fact. Last time I was pregnant I was shocked my colleagues didn’t guess, as I’m not usually so incredibly incompetent. I literally couldn’t string sentences together. Pregnancy is like being possessed.

CurryandSnuggle · 17/11/2021 17:39

@ALHCTPS I agree with this wholeheartedly 😂 I left my debit card in the card machine at Tesco the other day, almost walked off without it. Similarly in Costa I almost forgot to pay for my drink 😂

CurryandSnuggle · 17/11/2021 17:40

@rathernotshare Good luck, I know it sounds daunting and there’s probably nothing we can say to put your mind at rest but I will be thinking of you Flowers

CurryandSnuggle · 17/11/2021 17:41

@Prema112 omg!!! Beautiful scan picture ❤️ So happy for you.
Yaaaas ladies, we have come so far!!! 🙌 it’s my 12 week scan tomorrow Grin

ALHCTPS · 17/11/2021 17:45

@CurryandSnuggle the first sign I was pregnant with my little boy was when I dropped an iPhone down the loo and rang my husband sobbing my heart out. No idea how he talked me down. I was deranged. Then I managed to catch entirely the wrong train and ended up in deepest darkest Kent instead of SE London. Ticket inspector was very understanding. I was convinced I couldn’t be pregnant as I’d done an early test, but I was. I think my brain only returned about six months after the birth. Biology is a bitch.

ALHCTPS · 17/11/2021 17:51

@Clomid1 I’m not sure the terror every really leaves you, to be honest, but you learn to manage it. I know mothers of strapping teenagers who still panic they’ve stopped breathing in the night and have to check on them. Only having yourself to worry about is a walk in the park. Parenthood is like having you happiness and peace of mind held hostage for ever more, as your everything is wrapped up in the little blighters. Even when they think it’s funny to lick you rather than give you a kiss… I underestimated the fear. It’s primal.

Wellthiswasunexpected · 17/11/2021 18:10

@rathernotshare I was thinking of you today, so sorry about the removal news. Please keep us posted x

Wellthiswasunexpected · 17/11/2021 18:13

I just had the most humiliating experience…went to a prenatal yoga class thinking it would be nice and gentle and good for me. Turned up and all the ladies were 35+ weeks. One looked at my lack of a bump and said “you know this is the pregnancy class?” I was like err yes I know…and started getting a bit stressed. Then the class started and all the girls started grabbing their bumps going “ooo mine’s kicking!!! Mine too!” While I just looked in the mirror at my flat belly. Started welling up and left half way through :(

ALHCTPS · 17/11/2021 18:27

@Wellthiswasunexpected if it makes you feel any better, I once went to an utterly insane pregnancy yoga class where we all had to sit in a circle and make a diamond shape with our fingers pressed together, which was supposedly a vagina, and then stick our heads in that hand/vagina and think like our babies. Utterly loopy. There was also a theory about how your partner should tongue kiss you while you were bearing down in labour as it would soften the cervix. Wtf????

beansprout55 · 17/11/2021 18:30

@Prema112 🥰🥰 so happy for you! Smiling so much at your scan, what a relief xxx

Prema112 · 17/11/2021 18:33

Thanks everyone 🥰 I can't wait to see other people's 12 week scan photos coming through!

@CurryandSnuggle I'll be thinking of you tmw!

@rathernotshare I'm pleased you've got an appointment but understand your terror, so sorry you have to go through this and ill be praying your baby is absolutely fine.

Re. food, we have a weird relationship atm. I'm either starving/sick/must eat NOW, or so full I feel sick. And I don't want to eat anything ever, I don't have any desire for food which is so weird for me as it's usually what I live for!

@RoseValleyRambles I'm also thinking of you for your scan tmw and praying you have an amazing surprise ❤️

Prema112 · 17/11/2021 18:35

@Unarosaes that's nice you were looking forward to my scan and not creepy at all! I'm looking forward to yours now Smile

Wellthiswasunexpected · 17/11/2021 18:42

Just walked home bawling my eyes out, really didn’t need to feel any less pregnant or worthy of being in a class for pregnant people today. Soooo done with this trimester.

@ALHCTPS Your story has really made me giggle though, those exercises sound ridiculous 😂 thanks for sharing, perfect timing x

Iamhev · 17/11/2021 18:44

Hi ladies, just wondering if any of you have suffered from shortness of breath. I'm 9+4 and had it really early on but today I'm suffering a little.
Consulted Dr Google and its led me down the rabbit hole of thinking I've lost my baby! But common sense has thankfully prevailed (this time!) And I've ignored.
X

Prema112 · 17/11/2021 18:50

@Wellthiswasunexpected Aww, what is it about pregnancy classes? I went to such a pretentious yoga one last pregnancy where the leader would only talk in a whisper and said 'hmmm' after everything she said. Sorry you got judged for being less far along, you're no less pregnant than them! Good to start exercising again as soon as you can too

Pandamama88 · 17/11/2021 18:57

Exercise is really beneficial during pregnancy, you'd think that they'd take care to cultivate a welcoming atmosphere.
