@HWka i completely agree with you, i dont think you can be too harsh its your decision at the end of the day! Tell people in your own time.
I have a Hen do next weekend and ive just had to say im on antibiotics so i cant drinkGrin hoping they wont questions it but i havent even had my 12 week scan yet!

InvisibleDragon · 17/11/2021 07:15

We told our close family last weekend. It felt early to me (9 weeks), but my husband is Egyptian and apparently this is normal/quite late for his family. Everyone is really excited, so now I feel quite anxious about something going wrong.

I've also had to tell my manager at work, as I work in a forensic healthcare team, so there's a lot of risk assessment stuff that needs to be done. Really hoping I don't get bounced into working from home from really early on though, cos I think I'd go bananas!

3yearstrying · 17/11/2021 07:39

@InvisibleDragon try not to worry, the benefit of telling people is that you can talk about it more and have more support.
Your job sounds exciting! Im in estate agency so constantly on my feet and driving around. We'll see how well that goes when i get bigger haha

ALHCTPS · 17/11/2021 07:46

The nausea is bloody constant. Had to get a 7.14 train this morning as I’m off to Oxford to do some research with a colleague and the combination of public transport, a mask and morning sickness is horrific.

Wellthiswasunexpected · 17/11/2021 07:55

Has anyone had their vaccine or the booster since finding out? I’ve just booked my 2nd vaccine for the first day of week 12 but absolutely terrified… especially as I bled loads afterwards last time and had irregular cycles following that! :(

ALHCTPS · 17/11/2021 08:07

@Wellthiswasunexpected I’m eligible to get my booster after the 4th and am keen to get it. My fear of Covid while pregnant outstrips my fear of complications. It may be that one type of vaccine might be better for you than others. Worth talking to your GP.

Wellthiswasunexpected · 17/11/2021 08:13

Aah @ALHCTPS thanks for replying and good luck with yours on the 4th :) I’ve booked mine now so already accepted the risk, also spoken with soooo many professionals it’s ridiculous but, well, the anxiety is always there. Just have to believe it’s the best decision x

ALHCTPS · 17/11/2021 08:20

@Wellthiswasunexpected I totally get where you’re coming from. There are no perfect answers. And it’s impossible to do all the right things. Hell, I live in London - what does all the pollution here do to my baby? I can eat and drink all the right things but does the muck I breathe counteract that? But babies, when they want to be, are tenacious little buggers. I’m just focussing on the stats re all those poor women in ICU with Covid while pregnant who were too afraid to get the jab at all. No surprise, considering Thalidomide etc and the way pharmacists won’t even let you buy sodding strepsils when you’re up the duff. They can jab me as much as they please, but I too have that nagging anxiety.

Annabell1 · 17/11/2021 08:24

Hi ladies,
still catching up but I'm getting there. I'm new to the thread.
I currently 9+4, with a history of RCM but luckily this one is looking good, nausea is still there but slowly getting better and I have started to get quite a few spots. My hair looks terrible as well, so I'm starting to think it's going to be a girl. 😅

@Prema112 @Clomid1 and @destiEos I'm also from London, good to meet other Londoners.
@PeeAche thanks for the run down of mat law. That's super helpful.
@laurenGame Try to stay positive, I was also diagnosed with SCH with heavy bleeding. Rest, take magnesium and take good care of yourself. Also no heavy lifting etc. Crossing fingers. 🤞🏻

I don't really think I'm showing yet, but at night my tummy looks like a balloon. I'm wondering for how long I will be able to hide this pregnancy.

What are your thoughts about the Harmony test? I have read that some of you are planning to do it. We are currently debating whether to do it or not. I guess I'm a but concerned about getting a false positive.

Nice to meet everyone. Xx

Coffeepants · 17/11/2021 08:55

Hi everyone, I’m still here 11 weeks today. Not had any word about a scan yet. Did have a glucose test last week and had a letter for a consultant app. Have previously had an EMCS with twins so was asked by the midwife in the booking appointment if I would try for VBAC, I said no and expected more resistance but she said they will offer an ELCS because of previous history.

I definitely have a bump! Thinking about work Christmas lunch in a month and how to hide it as we are still wfh. Nervous about telling my manager as my team work intense hours and this will obviously put them under more pressure after we have had two people leave earlier this year. I’ve also not said anything to family as had a MC last year at 11 weeks.

Feeling really tired in evenings, had a very stranger dream last night, obsessed with pickles (so cliche, I just want to inhale it!) been eating loads of rubbish but seems to keep nausea at bay.

Also in London.

Wellthiswasunexpected · 17/11/2021 09:12

@ALHCTPS literally everything you’ve said is exactly how my mind is working atm. Such a difficult, agonising time of life to be making such a big health decision. When the outbreak first started I was thinking thank god it hasn’t happened during the uni experience, college etc - now eating my words! Whereabouts in London are you btw? I was south west until this summer, hoping to be back in 6ish months! Although yeah pollution-wise, tell me about it…

@Coffeepants welcome back 😄 so jealous of your bump! Totally understand holding off on telling people, and so sorry about your previous MC, hope this week flies by for you. Nice to see another London buddy here :)

Coffeepants · 17/11/2021 09:16

@Wellthiswasunexpected thank you! Haha yesterday I wore workout leggings to the school run and came home and ripped them off cos they felt so tight on my belly!

@ALHCTPS I have had the first jab and then had a BFP and been nervous to get the second but will likely do in the next week or so as numbers are really high and making me nervous!

Brightsmoke · 17/11/2021 09:20

I'm definitely showing, have been for a while. No surprise really, as this was 40+6 last time, I carry a massive bump 😂

destiEos · 17/11/2021 09:59

Hello all, welcome to new joiners and hello fellow Londoner @Annabell1!

I've been in bed for a few days with the all-day nausea, fatigue and headaches. I finally braved work and emailed another manager(mine's out this week) this morning to tell them I'm going to be out for a few a while with pregnancy illness. So I guess I've told them now, gutted that I had to tell a random manager before any of my friends though... I've got to admit, it would have been impossible to keep it secret this long, but since covid I've been pretty isolated and have lost touch with most of my friends anyway 😢

I wanted to wait till 12 week scan to tell people but I don't think I can wait any longer as people are asking why I was so sick on my honeymoon and if I'm better now. Ugh, this part is so rubbish, I hope once the nausea guess I get to enjoy a little bit of being pregnant!

My bump is pretty visible, but also eating a lot to try and keep nausea at bay, so could just be food 🤣 I have ordered some H&M clothes, but not much really as I feel uncomfortable with anything on my belly ATM, more due to nausea than bump, I think. Anyway, I'll give you all a review of the clothes when they get here - I threw in some Xmas bits too, cos Christmas is coming, whoooo!!

Also traded in my folic acid and D3 oil for Mama Mio Pregnancy Gummies - expensive but really, really worth it. Still have to swallow the huge Pregnacare Omega 3 capsules every day - if anyone has recommendations for alternative easy-to-swallow version, that would be grand!

Hope everyone is well and getting through the tough stuff SmileDaffodil

destiEos · 17/11/2021 10:05

@Wellthiswasunexpected - just wanted to add, I was double jabbed before getting pregnant (AZ). I had the flu vaccine around week 6. But I'm going to wait for the booster until I'm after week 12. To be honest I'm not sure I could handle any additional crappy effects at the moment, so erring on the side of caution. I've also had covid way back last year, so there should be some variety of antibodies rattling around..

MrsNT · 17/11/2021 10:19

Got nowhere else to say this..i messed up at work.sent a file with wrong numbers and got told off for it ..obviously my fault.but now im feeling horrible and sitting here and crying. Its been such a crazy few days at work and all the stress of symptom/no symptoms :(

PeeAche · 17/11/2021 10:44

Hey @MrsNT good morning!

It's just one day. I bet if you think back, you can summon up a few others like it. Don't let it get you down, we all have days like this!

Once I loaded the incorrect software version onto 200 discs (back when software still went onto discs - I'm an engineer btw) and they all got packed up into the boxes with the product we sold. I had to stay behind until 9pm, unpacking and repacking all 200 boxes before FedEx arrived. I got massively told off. It was hell. But it's behind me now. And it taught me a lesson 😂 The point is, it's already behind you, if you let it be. Dry your eyes. 😘 xxx

Imhereforthecake · 17/11/2021 10:52

Has anyone had their booking appointment yet or a date for 12 week scan. I'm 9 weeks on Sunday and I haven't heard anything from anyone. I know EPAU have sent my early scans to my midwife.

Pandamama88 · 17/11/2021 11:00

@Imhereforthecake in my area they were fairly organized. I told the GP I was pregnant and they gave me a number to call to self refer. I had my booking appointment by about 8weeks. I'm now 12 weeks and my scan is this Friday.

rathernotshare · 17/11/2021 11:01

@Imhereforthecake I self referred at 5 weeks and chased them at 7. Booked my booking appointment for 10 weeks. I'm 11 weeks tomorrow and still no scan date

AlbatrossSociety · 17/11/2021 11:07

@Wellthiswasunexpected I have just moved out of Southwest London but only to Surrey so not far at all.

@MrsNT it's so shit when things like that happen, I know I feel really incompetent at the moment but then I think I only notice all of the things I do wrong/am behind with. Think about all the stuff you've been getting on with and doing correctly while literally growing a human. What would you say to one of us if we had made an error at work??

@Brightsmoke I thought that was your bump now Grin. I did a massive double take and then re read your post properly! I don't know if I'm showing or bloated or just gaining weight but I'm wearing maternity trousers today and LOVING IT

Coffeepants · 17/11/2021 11:35

Same here, 11 weeks today and still no scan date. Midwife at the Gtt test said to chase if nothing received by 12 weeks

PurpleMoon12 · 17/11/2021 11:47

@Imhereforthecake

Luckily mine is based on self referrals and ringing up myself to book appointments. I'd ring up and chase

pregnancydiaries · 17/11/2021 12:05

I just told my manager and burst out crying over Teams…I’m so embarrassed 😂😫

Unarosaes · 17/11/2021 12:15

I was eating cereal yesterday afternoon when I felt (and heard) a crack. Looks like one of my molars has split. It doesn't hurt unless I touch it, but I am pretty sure my nerve is exposed. I have a dentist appointment this afternoon and I am afraid they will probably have to extract the tooth. I did a quick Google search (mistake!!) and found mixed opinions on whether it's safe to get a tooth extractions in the first trimester. Ughhhhhh
