@beansprout55 forgot to say I’m also clenching like mad, especially in my sleep…is this a pregnancy symptom???😂😫

3yearstrying · 16/11/2021 13:05

Apologies im TMi haha but Has anyone else experienced discomfort during sex whilst pregnant? Im 11 weeks today so its still early, but i had to tell DH to go easy/change position because it really caught me off guard! I'll mention it to my midwife the next time i see her but im worried! Thanks x

Unarosaes · 16/11/2021 13:07

I have the same issue with baths. In theory - according to my Dr Google research - as long as your body temperature doesn't go above 38.3 degrees (or 39 as per NHS pages) for more than 10 minutes you're ok.

I love taking baths and have had a few since knowing I was pregnant. I try to be careful with the temperature of the water, but as I like it scalding hot, I worry that what for me is 'not too warm' is still quite warm. I read online that you can get thermometers for the water, which I think is what I am going to do. As long as the water is not above 38 degree it should be fine.

Unarosaes · 16/11/2021 13:09

whoops! I didn't reload the page before answering and loads of new messages.

@rathernotshare the question about baths is actually on my list for the 12 weeks scan appointment. But I won't have it until 1st December. Maybe someone who has an appointment before then could ask on ouf behalf? 😬

rathernotshare · 16/11/2021 13:09

I bought a thermometer weeks ago but still nervous hahaha. I had quite a few hot baths before I knew I was pregnant though

PeeAche · 16/11/2021 13:11

@Iamhev I haven't had my booking appointment yet, so I'm not even sure when I'll have to see a consultant. But you're right, I'm going to kick ass at being a mum. We all are!!!

Does anyone here have a poor relationship with their own mum? Mine is a terrible and abusive narcissist and my entire family are weird and enmeshed. Being pregnant has made me think about this all a lot more.

Pandamama88 · 16/11/2021 13:12

@rathernotshare I take baths, I got myself a little bath thermometer shaped like a seal that floats and flashes red if the water runs too hot. It reassures me that it's not too hot and I can have it as warm as possible so I don't get too cold. The thermometer is aimed at babies so it will come in handy later too!

PeeAche · 16/11/2021 13:17

Regarding the baths thing - I understand that your temp needs to not be sustained at above basal temp for ten minutes or more. This is why hot tubs are forbidden.

In reality, a bath is unlikely to maintain a very high heat - they start getting cooler as soon as you've finished running them.

You can measure the temp with a thermometer if you want to be very careful but generally, just checking that it's not uncomfortably hot against your skin will be enough. Also, the main issue is with the neural tube development. Neural tube closes at around 10 weeks, at which point, it becomes safer to indulge in warm baths.

Unarosaes · 16/11/2021 13:28

I will go out and get one of those thermometers asap. I had a bath a few days ago and spent 3 days worrying afterwards. Trying not to think too much about it 😓

Wellthiswasunexpected · 16/11/2021 13:45

@3yearstrying Yes to this!! Last week sex was absolutely fine and painless, this week for some reason my cervix (and whatever the hell area lives to the left of it) really hurts?! Hoping it stops soon. Sorry if this is TMI…

3yearstrying · 16/11/2021 13:48

@Wellthiswasunexpected no its the exact same for me! Slightly to the left when that spot was hit i was literally winded with the pain! So strange, im hoping its just swelling and things moving around in there but i'll ask for sure and let you know!

AlbatrossSociety · 16/11/2021 15:06

@3yearstrying @Wellthiswasunexpected I've also had some pain during sex and it made me really nervous to try again.

My husband and I also had a BIG chat last night because he's working all hours and I'm also quite busy at work so we rarely have time together and when we do I'm shattered and he seemed to be feeling a bit neglected. I did my best to explain the tiredness and nausea and the scary idea that things may never be the same again and the scarier idea that actually it could be!

I've had a couple of baths but not really enjoyed it because they've been luke warm haha.

3yearstrying · 16/11/2021 15:11

@AlbatrossSociety i was nervous too! So sorry for the details but it may help someone whos also suffering, but I found the trick is positions that arent as 'deep', like lying on my side was painless. No missionary for a little while haha

Wellthiswasunexpected · 16/11/2021 15:19

@3yearstrying this is so interesting because it was the first time doing missionary for a while that it hurt! Advice noted 😂 @AlbatrossSociety I’m sorry you guys are so busy at the moment on top of everything else, definitely don’t feel pressured to do anything you don’t want to! I bled after sex in week 4 and it took 3 whole weeks to feel brave enough again.

PeeAche · 16/11/2021 15:23

I am finding it from behind generally comfier because the curve of his peen is pointed towards my back and not into my pelvis which is currently tender AF. I've been having pain in sex too.

I'm also suffering from occasional bouts of dryness. Liquid Silk is my friend.

Does anyone here love beef jerky? Pepperami have just released a version that is pasteurised! Get in my belly.

PeeAche · 16/11/2021 15:26

Oh and another thing, does anyone else find that the days are going much quicker now? I don't know if it's because the days in the run up to Christmas always fly, or if it's just that my anxiety is starting to let up. Every time I check my Pregnancy Plus app, I'm almost surprised at how many days have gone by!

3yearstrying · 16/11/2021 15:28

@PeeAche noted! Thanks i'll have to try that way Grin
I LOVE the black pepperamis at the moment so will definitely be giving that a try!

AmICrazy36 · 16/11/2021 15:33

Hi!

Just caught up.. I am also an older mum, I have just turned 37 and bmi 31, previous section so under consultant too! Midwife said wasn’t too old at all and my best friend is 39 and just had a baby too! Most people do seem to be slightly older now also ❤️

I haven’t had sex with dh for while, I think because we remember from the fertility clinic it they told us not too until 12 weeks but contemplating biting the bullet even though I’m scared haha!

Baths are ok Aslong as don’t raise your temperature too high ❤️ So not boiling hot baths xx

Vimto1991 · 16/11/2021 15:47

Just checked my badger notes app and I’ve been booked in for my first scan in two weeks time when I’ll be exactly 12 weeks! I’m so nervous but excited. I’ve been having bad cramps front and back today.

On top of it all- I woke up today with bloody fingers. I panicked so bad and then realised I must have scratched my nose in my sleep as one nostril had bled! 🙈

PeeAche · 16/11/2021 15:51

Oh @Vimto1991 this made me laugh. I'm sorry! 🤣

Vimto1991 · 16/11/2021 15:56

It was the most nervous pee I had to check 🙈 then realised it was my sodding nose! @PeeAche

Wellthiswasunexpected · 16/11/2021 16:00

@Vimto1991 🤣

AmICrazy36 · 16/11/2021 16:03

My badger notes isn’t working 🙃

Vimto1991 · 16/11/2021 16:11

@AmICrazy36 it’s been up and down all day just circling! I managed to get in briefly this afternoon but it’s been awful 😣

3yearstrying · 16/11/2021 16:13

@AmICrazy36 you're not an old mum at all! You're right though nowadays the age does seem to be rising until woman have children and i think its great the stigma of getting it done before 30 is slowly getting out of fashion.
Wow 12 weeks without sex? Honestly the way i have been feeling i could go the whole pregnancy withoutGrin but i definitely think im going easy for a while with the pain im getting haha
