Oh @laurenGame. Praying it will be ok for you. How did they miss that on the other ultrasounds????? xx

Iamhev · 15/11/2021 23:20

@ALHCTPS welcome.
I am also a 'geriatric' mum but when I mentioned this to the midwife she said I was far from old and that she had expectant mothers in their late 40's!! Friends with children have also said that these days the mums in the playground are generally older too these days which made me feel a lot better.
I've also chosen to have the additional screening at my 12 week scan ... I worry about everything I'm a nightmare so hoping by having these I'll get a clear result and give me one less thing to worry about.
When are you due x

laurenGame · 16/11/2021 00:14

@beansprout55 well they've never missed it, they've known since the first 5 week scan but they tell most people it's 'bleeding' as medical terms can be confusing and worrying. Normal (non-vaginal) scans don't always pick it up, so women are not given a reason.

In a way it's just a bleeding, a clot. Nothing can be done really, so I do get their point of just telling women it's bleeding and that's it. Smile and they're not hiding anything really as Hematoma is bleeding.

How's your spotting now? Mine is still going, now I know it's Hematoma, it is expected to spot for days and weeks, so I'm not panicked anymore x

beansprout55 · 16/11/2021 01:22

I wonder if that's what I had! @laurenGame on my first scan after the bleeding he said he saw the bleeding by the placenta or something - however 10 days later at my next TV the dr said he couldn't see any evidence of bleeding. Yet I still bled for days! Today is my first day of none in like 17 days!!! Not going to get to excited xx

beansprout55 · 16/11/2021 02:33

Spoke too soon 😕

laurenGame · 16/11/2021 03:14

Oh @beansprout55 I was going to say.. I have stopped spotting for 1/2 day.. only for it to start again when I wipe. No if I don't spot for a few hours I really tell myself not to get too excited.

When is your next scan? Could you ask if it's Hematoma? As that will spot for weeks on end, with pregnancy running today smoothly alongside Smile it's just a clot that will keep spotting. As long as it doesn't become big my OB said it's pretty harmless

I know the feeling, you just wish it to go away but now I'm accepting the spotting and just trying to move along nicely with my pregnancy. How many weeks are you now, think you're a bit ahead of me? I'm 7 today x

Pandamama88 · 16/11/2021 08:20

@PeeAche Spoke to my husband about how I was feeling last night. He was so lovely. He doesn't want me to feel that way at all and we had a good talk and a cuddle. I'm so lucky to have him.

beansprout55 · 16/11/2021 08:36

Not due another scan until 12 weeks (I'm 8 now), unless something goes wrong obv.

My last TV he said he couldn't see any evidence of bleeding at all, unlike the scan I had at 6 weeks where they did see the bleed. So not sure I have one? Unless he was just really bad at looking 😂

I thought it had stopped yesterday and TMI* for the very first time since being pregnant I actually had white discharge! So I had sex last night and then I had pink on wiping an hour later... grrrrr.
I've always had cramps since I found out. Have you?x

PeeAche · 16/11/2021 08:38

Good morning everyone. Welcome to @ALHCTPS

I'm geriatric too (35). First time mum, BMI over 30, HG and a history of recurrent MCs. My pregnancy has barely begun and I'm already almost a full house for a game of Consultant Led Bingo.

I thought I'd care way more than I actually do.

Nobody is ever going to say I'm "glowing", or describe me as "bonny". I'll never be "that lovely young mum from down the road". And the only reason anybody would ever have cause to say "from the back, you wouldn't even know you are pregnant" would be because my bottom is so enormous and distracting.

I'm just overjoyed to be here. Bring it on.

PeeAche · 16/11/2021 08:40

@beansprout55 I've had tugging since my BFP- at the front, really really low down. Sometimes it's painful.

But last night (8+3) I started having mild cramps in my back. They kept me awake for hours. They're in the same spot as my period pains usually are. I loathed every second of it. They've gone this morning.

laurenGame · 16/11/2021 08:47

@beansprout55 I've had cramps too but I presume they're good - uterus is expanding. At 7 weeks uterus is a size of an orange 🍊 . And double in size.

Grrr I've not had sex with DP for 3 weeks and we really 'miss' each other. I'm contemplating to do it but I have been warned that it might bring on more spotting but with Hematoma I've read it's a bad thing but I'm still scared 😬

My obstetrician said he can see me once a week, or every 4 weeks. I'm contemplating 4 weekly as it's prob better for my sanity .. I think what you have 4 weeks is good. If you have no fresh blood I don't think it's a concern, even the annoying spotting for weeks on end x

laurenGame · 16/11/2021 08:50

*ive read it's not a bad thing

Prema112 · 16/11/2021 09:06

@PeeAche I've also had cramps the last couple of days which is unnerving with the spotting but gotta trust it's all normal uterus expanding etc I suppose

Prema112 · 16/11/2021 09:35

@laurenGame Sorry to hear about the visible bleed on the scan, but 40% of the baby at 7 weeks is really tiny so I don't think you need to worry. I had a bleed on the scan bigger than that at 8 weeks and they weren't worried and it was gone at 10 weeks so hoping yours just gets reabsorbed too. So sorry you're spotting everyday, it must be horrible, I've had about 5 episodes of spotting this pregnancy and it's hard not to freak out each time x

beansprout55 · 16/11/2021 10:05

@laurenGame my spotting is pink so isn't that fresh? I've only had red once and boy oh boy I was a hysterical mad woman. 😂

I missed the intimacy and DH hasn't been initiating since I've been pregnant, we used to every 2/3 days, it's made me feel so rubbish that he doesn't anymore. I initiated last night and afterwards I just cried and told him how I felt. He said he was being sensitive to me but naturally I don't believe it 🙄 then we had an argument and I drove off and didn't come back until 2am - 10 hour shift now on 5 hours sleep 😂😂 my own doing of course x

laurenGame · 16/11/2021 10:25

@Prema112 ah thank you, it really does make me feel better to know that if happens to others and it's not to worry about. Before that I felt like I was the only woman in the worlds to bleed during pregnancy. My spotting is coming up to two weeks and it seems to ease off a lot 🤞

@beansprout55 mine is brown or pink- I think as long as it's not bright red it's ok? Even with bright red could be ok, just needs checking out.
My DP thinks he caused my bleeding with the sex so he's really scared to try again. He's the only putting it off and I do believe him that he's just sensitive to me. We had other small disagreements like him being too chill and him saying I'm negative - but don't stay annoyed at each other for long SmileGoshhh rest up as soon as you get home, I would be dead 😁 x

pregnancydiaries · 16/11/2021 11:40

Anyone else getting bad headaches and have any tips for helping them? 9 weeks today and floored ☹️ Have taken paracetamol a couple of times but anxious to take it much more xx

beansprout55 · 16/11/2021 12:30

@pregnancydiaries are you drinking enough? Make sure you drink 8 glasses a day lovely x it's horrible I know. If nothing at all helps mention it to your GP x

My headache issue is when I clench my teeth, I catch myself doing it all the time and have to retrain myself not to! But I know not drinking enough or not enough sleep is the main cause xx

Prema112 · 16/11/2021 12:32

@beansprout55 & @laurenGame just to say I've had bright red spotting with clots and all still seems to be ok so don't freak out if it is red as well x

Iamhev · 16/11/2021 12:35

@PeeAche you a baby of the geriatric mother club 😀 I'm 40 and will be 41 when baby arrives. My BMI is also over 30 at 33 so I'm moderate risk according to my health care provider. I only need to see the consultant once at around 28 weeks I think the midwife said due to my age.

Don't put yourself down, whatever your size you will be an amazing mum ❤ x

beansprout55 · 16/11/2021 12:41

Thanks @Prema112. I worked out that I actually started spotting 20 days ago, longer than I thought. It's hardly any most of the time and only ever on wiping, but still! I'd rather brown than pink.

Managed to persuade them to give me another scan on Thursday - this will be my 3rd! Scared to see the scary consultant who does it, he's so mean and acts like I'm wasting his time 😢
Wish I was still under ARU. That dr was amazing xx

rathernotshare · 16/11/2021 12:43

Are people taking baths? I know not to have it hot but still a bit anxious

pregnancydiaries · 16/11/2021 12:54

Thanks @beansprout55, I have HG so I’m consciously drinking a lot to try and avoid hospital but it definitely won’t be helping. I think mine are hormone based as I usually get menstrual migraines around TOTM. Just took a paracetamol but it came straight back up so must be baby’s way of saying no thanks 😂

Sorry you’re having a tough time with the spotting, don’t feel bad about another scan get them as much as you feel you need, this is your baby ♥️ How many weeks are you now?xx

@rathernotshare my sister in law was over yesterday and she’s just had a baby. She said she bought a thermometer for the bath so she could have one every day and just make sure it was the right time. I’m sure she said 37degrees but double check that! Her DD is perfect and she had baths from early pregnancy xx
