Lindzers83 · 12/12/2021 21:08

Congratulations @Room4onemore hope you're both doing well.
I've heard some people are experiencing side effects from the booster. Tough choice. I think if it was me I'd risk it and get it out of the way x

Sparklestars86 · 12/12/2021 21:48

If get mine before if I could. Mine is booked for 41 weeks so might actually end up being before baby comes I guess! I just think sooner the better really. Xx

NightDreaming · 14/12/2021 12:04

I’ve opted to have mine after baby is here. I was super keen to have it, but when I went to book there was a space one week before, which was only a couple days before Christmas. Yes I want the protection but also didn’t want potential added side affects at 39wks. Have booked for 5 days after due date. And they aren’t going to let me get passed 40wks so I will be able to have it done then.
The way I’m feeling I’m not sure I’ll make it to Christmas. Tiredness is haunting me! Maternity leave starts Friday. I work park time (thank god, could not do full days atm). Just woken from my first ever morning nap!! I can normally get through until 2 before I need to sleep!

How’s everyone doing? Are there anymore new arrivals out there? For those of you who have had your baby what’s your experience of hospital/hospital care been like with covid in the background? x

SCDfan99 · 14/12/2021 12:32

due december 30!
has anyone had painful bloating/stomach pain in this last trimester?

burtle4 · 14/12/2021 16:31

Haven't posted on here for a while but have been following. Was induced on Saturday at 39 weeks and now have a beautiful baby boy 💙 I actually found in our experience that covid didn't make a massive impact on the birth. My husband obviously had to bring in a negative lateral flow and had to wear a mask around the staff, but could take it off when it was just us in the room. I had to have a test while I was there but didn't have to wear a mask at all. Other than that and staff wearing masks, no real difference! Having said that though, there was a bit of a staff shortage issue due to midwives not being allowed into work if a member of their family tests positive so that affected us a little x

NightDreaming · 14/12/2021 20:23

@burtle4 congratulations!! What lovely news. Hope you’re having an amazing time holding your new born. ❤️ . And thank you for all the info on covid. Just good to know vaguely what it will be like. My other half will be delighted that he can take his mask off when it’s just the two of us!

AnonymousXXIX · 14/12/2021 20:39

Congratulations @Room4onemore and @burtle4! Things are getting real now : o

Theawkwardblonde · 14/12/2021 21:07

@Room4onemore and @burtle4 congratulations to you both! ☺️☺️

Seahawk80 · 15/12/2021 07:27

Congratulations on the new arrivals! It's making me impatient seeing / hearing about the babies coming.
I had a consultant appointment yesterday about bringing c section forward as baby measuring above 95th centile! They are happy with everything though and don't think I'll go into early labour so we are sticking with 38+6. A week and a day to go now!
@Scarletpig1 I asked yesterday as have booster booked for today and it was a very positive yes, have it. Rates seem high everywhere too. I'm in London and it's gone from around 300 per 1000000 to over 700 in less than 2 weeks. I didn't listen to it but mum said there was a good program on radio 4 about 10 yesterday about pregnancy and boosters and was very much in favour. To be honest I was going to wait until after the birth, we had a bit of a family fall out with in laws over vaccine as SIL was also pregnant and against it, totally her choice but in laws handled it badly and knocked my confidence about having it. However I know I'd be so upset to get it before birth / in hospital and now I've decided I feel like getting the booster is the right thing for me. My main concern was getting it in hospital, rates will be sky high and many other people there will be unvaccinated. The thought of a newborn and a 4 year old if both of us were sick isn't good. Husband managed to get booster last week so🤞🏻.

AnonymousXXIX · 15/12/2021 07:54

Got my booster this week at 38 weeks, no side effects :)

Baby measuring a steady 50% centile (had a few extra scans due to concerns it might be on the small side), with zero signs of labour. Was really hoping this would be a December baby, but trying to wrap my head around it going well into January. Very done being pregnant now!

Seahawk80 · 15/12/2021 12:53

@AnonymousXXIX good to hear. I hear you on the done being pregnant! Just had my booster and was in and out before my actual appointment time! I was worried after seeing stuff in the news about people with appointments waiting in walk in queues but local place sent you straight in with an appointment, it's a massive centre in SE London that had a long walk in queue.

Bec2879 · 16/12/2021 21:00

Hey, just stumbled across.this thread!.
I'm goinh in for a c section on 22nd, Covid is scaring me now! I have a 4 year old so have got a list of 3 people.to have him incase anyone gets Covid! Has anyone had a section in last week? I have pre op Monday so need to.find out if husband can stay all night etc 😩

Em39ma · 17/12/2021 06:34

Morning all. I had Arthur on Tuesday by emergency c section after another failed induction. I unfortunately loss 2 litres of blood, so recovery is a bit slower this time, as really not feeling like myself yet.

Congratulations to all the new babies!! Good luck today with those going into labour.

@Em39ma so sorry it was a difficult birth. Be gentle with yourself. Good luck with recovery and enjoy the time with Arthur. x

Theawkwardblonde · 17/12/2021 09:04

@Em39ma congratulations! Wishing you a speedy recovery after that birth xx

Seahawk80 · 17/12/2021 12:29

@Em39ma congratulations! Hope you feel better soon x

Lindzers83 · 18/12/2021 21:45

@Em39ma congratulations he's so cute.

@Bec2879 I think every hospital is different but mine would only allow partners to stay during visiting hours 10am to 8pm

Foreverboymumma · 19/12/2021 07:57

Congratulations to all the new babies 👶🏻
@Em39ma hope your doing well Flowers he’s gorgeous!
My turn on Tuesday although I’ve had some major ups n downs recently I’m so stressed out! Plans have gone out the window & now I just want it over with and want to be at home. Xx

Em39ma · 19/12/2021 17:47

We are doing ok. Could do without all the to and throwing to the hospital, apparently now we go to the midwives rather than them coming to us. Appointment today, then another on Tuesday and again on Friday.
Arthur lost weight at day 2, but has stayed the same when weighed today, topping him up with expressed milk to try and get the weight back on him.
I’m now just feeling bruised, like I’ve been kicked a few times and a little tired still if do anything.

Think today might be the day here. Not due until 31st, and was really hoping I’d get there. Love the idea of NYE birthday. However. Pretty sure I’m having early stage contractions rather then braxton hicks. Started about 11 last night. Managed to get couple hrs sleep. Not sure I’m going to get anymore.

Partner fast asleep next to me. He has no idea and was asleep before anything started. Want him to have a good night’s rest before what will be a long and exciting day.

It’s mad you have 9 months to prepare and yet not sure I feel ready. Have I got everything I need for hospital?? Would like to hoover there house before I go. We’ve got a food shop boyfriend this morning!!! I’m hoping I can unpack that before leaving!

Scarletpig1 · 20/12/2021 04:08

So exciting @NightDreaming. Hope you manage to get a bit more rest before the morning. Good luck.Grin

NightDreaming · 20/12/2021 04:48

I just reread my post. Food shop boyfriend??? That’s meant to say food shop arriving 😂. How did that get swapped and how did I not notice?!

@Scarletpig1 Thank you. I’ve had the odd 5 minute nap, but I think that’s now it. Going to potter round the house doing things until it’s actually morning. What are you doing up at 4am?

Scarletpig1 · 20/12/2021 05:05

Acid reflux. I've not really slept well through while pregnancy because of it. But now I'm awake every hour or half hour. Usually I give up around 4 or 5 and go for a nap after lunch instead. I'm 3 days overdue so going to start going for walks and being more active to try and get him out 🤞
