Hi everyone, hope it's ok if I join. I'm due 31 Dec but having a c section on 23rd. This is my second baby and I was on a really lovely July babies thread back in 2017. I didn't join this time as I've had 3 losses before this baby and just couldn't face joining and leaving again. Finally feel brave enough with 3 weeks to go!
I feel for everyone with the big babies / bumps. Mine is enormous, estimated at 7lb 7 at yesterday's scan at 35+4! I ask have extra fluid and am only 5'1", feel so uncomfortable 😩. I've had 2 GD tests and don't have it, just a giant baby that seems to take everything I eat as I haven't gained any extra weight. They don't seem worried and haven't asked me back for any more scans.
I don't know what I'm having, really struggling with boys names... with DS we had a front runner boys name super early on but this time everything feels like second best, anyone else feel like that?

Sparklestars86 · 02/12/2021 10:22

@CityGirl182 I'm 38+2 and would have mine if I had been invited in time- I had zero symptoms from the first two though so not sure if I'd feel differently if I'd had a reaction. I won't get the chance now regardless I don't think.

@Seahawk80 welcome! Sorry to hear of the tough time you've had getting here- but so exciting that you're nearly there now! I wish I hadn't put any weight on- everyone says I look "neat" but I've put on over 3 stone! We are hopelessly nowhere with a name for a boy or a girl- got lists for both that we both quite like but nothing jumping out as the one for either. Hoping a name just fits once they get here!

My Braxton Hicks been on a whole new level last few days. Not painful as such- just feel like by back and bump are in the tightest vice ever! Xx

Room4onemore · 03/12/2021 12:24

Hi ladies, just been for my last growth scan and baby has had a jump in weight, my fluid levels are also up, just waiting for them to review the scan now and see what they say

Em39ma · 03/12/2021 20:24

Hopefully they came and spoke to you @Room4onemore.
My fluid has actually dropped down to within normal levels in the last couple of weeks, so it can change either way towards the end.

@Sparklestars86 thank you! I've been having major Brixton hicks. Every time I do something like walk for more than 5 mins. Probably a good excuse to just lie on the sofa for 2 weeks but DS hasn't got the memo that I need to slow down!

@Room4onemore I hope they reassured you. I have a big baby and extra fluid, they keep saying it's because big babies pee more....lovely!

TreeRoad · 04/12/2021 22:35

Just to round off my contribution to the thread -

Our baby arrived a few days ago, safe and well after a 40ish hour labour. Unfortunately at the time, I had a haemorrhage and it was genuinely touch and go as to whether the outcome would be good for me, or so I’ve been told.

Obviously I’ve recovered and things are fine now. My baby is an absolute joy and this is the best thing I’ve ever done.

Hope the rest of everyone’s pregnancies go well. Labour is, what I can only describe as, an experience. Completely and truly worth it though, I promise.

Sparklestars86 · 04/12/2021 23:10

Congratulations @TreeRoad! That sounds terrifying but so pleased you're all better now. I'm on the final countdown and starting to get a bit nervous!
@Room4onemore hope you got some answers and a plan.
@Seahawk80 a couple of weeks on the sofa sounds an ideal way to prepare! I've been like a mad woman today- sorting out our office which had turned into a dumping ground and helping (more supervising to be fair but a little bit hands on too) build the nursery furniture. Shattered but felt v.productive and a big step forward to being ready for the big arrival! Xx

Room4onemore · 05/12/2021 07:08

Thanks, well I’m doing home finger prick testing until Thursday 4 times a day to check for diabetes, even though I’m being induced on Thursday lol

Seahawk80 · 05/12/2021 22:06

@TreeRoad congratulations! Enjoy the newborn snuggles!

@Sparklestars86 sounds like you got lots done. My "nesting" is definitely finishing off DIY etc, was the same with DS! Painted our front door at 8pm tonight once he was in bed 🤦‍♀️.

@Room4onemore oh no. They are obsessed with me having GD, I've had 2 tests and everything is fine, just a giant baby! Not long to go now!

Im feeling more and more uncomfortable, counting down the days now (17 to go)!

Theawkwardblonde · 06/12/2021 21:19

@TreeRoad congratulations! Glad you and little one are doing okay!!

Lindzers83 · 07/12/2021 19:46

@TreeRoad congratulations and so pleased you recovered well.
We had an early arrival on Sunday morning and finally got home today. We were team yellow and are so pleased to have a little girl. Meet Ella

Thanks ladies. So it turns out daddy is the weakest link here. He ended up co sleeping from 4am after no success in the next to me crib. I did appreciate the 4hrs solid sleep but really don't want this to be our routine. Any suggestions are welcome?

flowersatthecastle · 08/12/2021 09:05

@Lindzers83 congratulations!

We had this for the first few nights at home and I really did not want to bedshare (personal preference) or set us up for that being a habit but no luck in the next to me at all. Then at about a week old we tried again and baby slept fine in there (for a newborn anyway). Previously we'd tried changing the swaddle, warming the bed, white noise, etc and it didn't work. This night we didn't change anything. I'm thinking maybe it's just the process of baby realising they aren't in the womb anymore? Keep persevering is my advice.

Em39ma · 08/12/2021 11:03

@Lindzers83 have you tried putting one of you t shirts next to her. Keep her in the next to you, put just gives the smell of you being there a bit closer.
I don’t do co sleeping either, with dd she didn’t like to be swaddled, but wanted me. On occasion I did have to come down stairs with her, but maybe once a week for a couple of weeks then she was great.
It is perseverance I’m afraid. There so small they are working out what they like at the same time as you.

Thanks ladies. she had ewan the dream sheep and my vest I'd been wearing. I think your right and could be the initial transition. I'll try warming tonight. X

Em39ma · 11/12/2021 11:50

@Room4onemore congratulations. We are having our c section next week, so will update when boy is out.
Still getting contractions, so we might not make it to our actual date towards the end of the week.

Has anyone had advice from midwife about getting covid booster so late in pregnancy? I have my third jab booked exactly on my due date but not sure whether to cancel it or not. Only had tiredness/cold like side effects with first two but currently have a bit of a cold so don't know whether it's daft potentially making labour more difficult for myself. On the other hand don't want to get it while in the sleep deprived newborn stage 🤔
