Hello! Getting a bit crazy here about symptoms. I'm 6+6 and the cramping has been easing off since I found out I was pg (I guess that is normal). Boobies are still sore but today I'm not nauseous, only a bit of upset stomach. I have a scan in 2 days and I'm terrified I will be told I have miscarriaged again 😭 Are symptoms likely to go and them come back?

Elsols93 · 09/11/2021 17:16

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou there’s a place called window to womb which does early gender scans at 16 weeks at £80 and you get a wellness scan included I used them last time xx

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 09/11/2021 17:24

@elsols93 Thank you! As far as I can see they don't do NIPT though, sadly. I think the cheapest I've seen is around £300 Shock

camvt · 09/11/2021 18:46

@Lostintranslatio I barely had symptoms but the little I felt has been coming and going, sometimes disappearing for days. I was (still am) feeling super anxious but had a scan on the weekend and everything looked fine. I'm sure everything will be going great with your little bean too! I know it's hard to feel confident after a loss, I'm right there with you. I wish I had a button to shut down my thoughts!

Elsols93 · 09/11/2021 19:24

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou sorry I never even knew what a NIPT was untill I just googled 🤦‍♀️ I just thought we got the standard testing with nhs didn’t no we could actually pay for a more detailed and precise one xx

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 09/11/2021 19:27

@Elsols93 no worries! It's also called the Harmony test, which other people might have heard of. Personally I think it will give me a lot of peace of mind much earlier than all the other tests so will be going for it, but just trying to work out where!

ps864 · 09/11/2021 19:42

Hi everyone!

7 weeks pregnant tomorrow and due date according to the calculated is 29th June - feeling this group is most appropriate though.

This is our first pregnancy. Lots of nerves and worries but trying to enjoy it at the same time.

Our families both know - more for support rather than celebrations at this stage.

I have my fingers and toes crossed for everything to go well but being realistic at the same time as it's early days. It's really hard to find the balance.

First midwife appointment next week and then will be referred for a scan.

Desperate for a scan to hear the little ones heart beat but not sure if it's just best to wait for the dating scan. I'm not sure when exactly we will get this, if we have to wait til 12 weeks or if it could possibly be sooner.

Any advice/tips/any chat welcome!!
Also podcast suggestions!!

Lostintranslatio · 09/11/2021 20:14

@camvt Thank you for your words☺️ I am very happy for you and your scan. Fingers crossed I can bring good news on Thursday as well, although I know it would be a temporary relief, I don't think I'll relax until baby's born 😂

camvt · 09/11/2021 20:51

@Lostintranslatio I feel the same! I kept telling myself that I'd be able to relax once I saw the heartbeat, but in reality the calm lasted about 24h until I started worrying again! I now think I will calm down after 8 weeks........the lies I tell myself to get through this. Sending you lots of love for Thursday ❤️

@ps864 Congrats and welcome!! x

Effram · 09/11/2021 21:25

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I'm having nipt at 10 weeks in London... I can't remember the name off top of my head will check tomorrow. It's something generic like women's health clinic !

Won't be finding out sex, I love the surprise too much. I have a 3 year old (and 1year old) but didn't find out with either of them and I think he will be fine being prepared for a generic baby. I'm sure it'll be another boy I think I only make them blue but my husband thinks girl (but he's said that past two times!)

Effram · 09/11/2021 21:25

I think unless you're at a teaching/research hospital the NIPT is only offered on NHS if you come out at high risk from nuchal scan, bloods and age calculations X

laurenGame · 09/11/2021 21:41

Hi @Cruz86 just seen you use retinol, my GP told me absolutely not use it at all, as soon as I started ttc in feb. apparently it has a lot of vitamin A which in excess can give birth defects. I remember it well because I love my retinol and haven't been able to use it for almost a year :(

On Google it even says to stop using retinol a month before ttc. Just did a quick search too:

Maternal use of synthetic vitamin A (retinoids) such as isotretinoin (Accutane) during pregnancy can result in multiple effects on the developing embryo and fetus including miscarriage, premature delivery and a variety of birth defects.

Chh0412 · 09/11/2021 21:50

Hi Ladies.

Im 6 weeks tomorrow.
This will be my second baby. Daughter is 13months.
Since last Thursday I've had spotting only when I wiped. Ranging in colours from brown to red. Sunday I had a small clots. Spoke to a midwife on Monday and I have a scan tomorrow morning with EPAC - hubby can't come with me as he's working away.

I have no pregnancy symptoms but didn't really have symptoms in my first pregnancy apart from taking a liking to sparkling water and felt sick for 2 weeks between 15-17weeks.

As for vaccinations as a nhs nurse who works on an acute medical ward and have watched people die of covid and prior to the pandemic of flu I do not understand why people do not get vaccinated. You need to protect yourself and your unborn child. Your more vulnerable when pregnant. I have been double vaccinated and had my booster last week and flu jab last month.

We won't be finding out the sex, we will team yellow. Personally think there are hardly any surprises in life and it was lovely having my husband tell me. Also think it helped me get through labour.

I just have a horrible feeling that tomorrow won't be good news. I've had this gut feeling the moment I found out I pregnant it was too good to be true. It took us 15months to fall pregnant last time but only 10wks this time. X x x

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 09/11/2021 22:18

@Effram Thank you! If you do remember, please do send me a link. If I go at 10 weeks I think there's a chance I'll have the results by Christmas which would be a nice present for myself Smile. I'm convinced I'm having a boy, too!

Re: covid vaccines, I've both had covid and had two covid vaccines. I think I'll avoid a booster while in the first trimester because I'm likely already effectively triple dosed, but would definitely get one if I hadn't had covid + 2x vaccines. As it is, I think I'll wait for my booster until the second trimester but will try to semi-self isolate until then.

MrsG35 · 10/11/2021 07:36

Hi all!

I'm 4+5 and desperately waiting to get to 7 weeks after a MC at 6+5 last April. This will be our first child so trying not to get too excited just in case, but can't help it a bit!

Is anyone else really bloated? Baby should be the size of a sesame seed, and here I am feeling like I've had an all you can eat banquet three times a day for the past week! Think I'm going to have to dig out the winter tights and wear a dress to work do I've no waistband to contend with! Confused

Also, so tired! Need a nap by 1pm everyday, but as a primary teacher - not a chance! I collapse on the sofa by 5pm usually, but dh been working the last two nights (and next two) so have two young dogs to walk, feed and entertain so it's usually 7pm before I sit down - after setting off to work at 6.30am [tired]

Hope everyone has a good day!

AppleTree16 · 10/11/2021 08:06

Migrating here from the conception thread. Due around 18th July based on LMP but obviously that might change. Symptoms so far are sore breasts and tiredness. Oh and protein craving! (That came on before I knew and it was one of the signs I should take a test - I was like CHICKEN!).

Excited but keeping sensible at its early days.

AppleTree16 · 10/11/2021 08:06

@laurenGame

Hi *@Cruz86* just seen you use retinol, my GP told me absolutely not use it at all, as soon as I started ttc in feb. apparently it has a lot of vitamin A which in excess can give birth defects. I remember it well because I love my retinol and haven't been able to use it for almost a year :(

Maternal use of synthetic vitamin A (retinoids) such as isotretinoin (Accutane) during pregnancy can result in multiple effects on the developing embryo and fetus including miscarriage, premature delivery and a variety of birth defects.

I stopped using retinol as the start of this cycle due to this reason.
Elsols93 · 10/11/2021 08:07

It’s my scan day on my way to hospital now for an 8.30 appointment nervous but excited should be 7,1 weeks xx

feliznavidad2 · 10/11/2021 08:14

Good luck @Elsols93 x

laurenGame · 10/11/2021 08:27

@AppleTree16 it was the first thing GP advised me when I said I was going to ttc. She said 'no retinol' before she even said no alcohol and no smoking 😁

My 7 week scan went well today! After 8 days of bleeding, a trip to a&e, non-increasing hcg levels - baby has grown and the heart started beating 💗

Lady who did the scan said it's still unusual to bleed like this. And I'm still a bit nervous I haven't stopped spotting. But for now the baby is alive, and growing x

missv556 · 10/11/2021 08:33

@MrsG35 the bloat is crazy. And the tiredness too. I had a sandwich from m&s yesterday and it made bloated and tired. I had to have a lie down for a while.

@AppleTree16 anything chicken based I'm all over it! Kfc is gonna be my friend 🤣 I've had it twice since I found out I was pregnant a week ago. On Saturday night we ordered 10 strips for £10 and that's all I ate. Monday night I had a zinger burger. Body obviously needs it.

Effram · 10/11/2021 08:33

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou just checked - this time I am going to 'city ultrasound' but last time I went to women's health Dulwich (and I went to Dulwich clinic but believe they have a Harley st one too).

When I looked they were all basically comparable... My friend went to London women's clinic and rated that too!

Good luck @Elsols93 !

And @laurenGame I am SO HAPPY what a relief it must have been to see that little heartbeat 💓

Congrats @MrsG35 and @AppleTree16 :)

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 10/11/2021 08:39

@laurenGame what fantastic news! I’m so happy baby is growing as he/she should be at the moment.

@Effram thanks! I might give the dulwich one a go, not too far from me.

Has anyone thought about where they want to give birth yet?

Effram · 10/11/2021 08:52

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou oh really whereabouts are you? You can't be far from me either!

Definitely a home birth again for me 🙂

beansprout55 · 10/11/2021 09:07

I'm 7+2, browny/pinky spotting started 5+2 and has persisted. Had an emergency TV scan 10 days ago and they saw a heart beat and HCg was good. But now the spotting is just pink and more of it, also thought I saw a minuscule sized clot in my pessary which fell out.
Encouraging stories if there are any 😕 ?
Scan tomorrow morning x
