Apparently you can get it on prescription & it's related to aspirin so advised not to take it orally?
I'd have thought using a cleanser on your face would be OK

Effram · 09/11/2021 11:11

thinking of you @laurenGame I have everything crossed!

and sending lots of love to you @Tinypeanut1224 too... hope it's all ok!

@missv556 tbh I think most topical things are ok really (a doctor told me that once) so I wouldn't worry about what you've already used but you could be careful from now if it makes you feel better! I think it's only around 5/6 weeks that the blood stream is shared anyway!

I have arranged a wine tasting for my husband's birthday in a couple of weeks so that's a bit annoying haha! I think it will be mingly enough that people won't really notice if I'm drinking or not as long as I hold a glass and he will be happy to have double portions. I went out for a work do last week and I just ordered a seedlip and tonic - it's good now lots of places still do ordering by app as I just got the round in on my phone ! My strategy continues to be just don't mention it and nurse/sip then swap out! We are also getting hte new car so I am happy to be des driver for a while...

I've let myself get too hungry today so now I feel sick and don't fancy anything but need to eat to stop the sickness wahhh

missv556 · 09/11/2021 11:20

@Effram I use the pink grapefruit face wash and moisturiser. I'd have thought that stuff was OK but I thought peanuts would be OK and according to NHS they're not lol

Aww gutted about the wine tasting. I'm not a big drinker but I brought some tropical kopperberg a few weeks ago and I didnt get around to trying it 😭

Effram · 09/11/2021 11:41

Peanuts are fine to eat in pregnancy! Is that what you meant? I think it's encouraged actually as there is possibility it could help prevent allergies (but that might have been debunked)

laurenGame · 09/11/2021 11:51

Thanks for well wishes my scan is tomorrow (I'm in Aus) so not today Smile
@Tinypeanut1224 my story is almost word to word to yours. Mine started weds, after I strained on the toilet, also has sex twice Blush
The same tortuous circle: bleeding - spotting - stopping... I'd calm down... then bleeding would start again ! Are you having any pregnancy symptoms? Good luck and I will report back on what my obstetrician will say on this.

Ok I'm so jealous of people eating a lot, I've only managed fresh stock and some fruit today, even had to leave the room when my DP was eating dinner.

Also I have newly discovered respect for those having a 3/4/5th baby - I don't think I could do this again 😂

missv556 · 09/11/2021 11:57

@Effram I was looking the day I found out to see what foods to avoid and peanuts was listed. I asked my mum (nurse) and she said best to not eat them tbh

Effram · 09/11/2021 12:07

@missv556 current NHS advice is definitely that peanuts are fine to eat unless you have an allergy www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/foods-to-avoid/ I believe they're actually really good for you as a source of protein and folates! I've been having a spoonful of peanut butter to take the edge off when I get really hungry sick, the saltiness helps me feel better without having to eat loads!

@laurenGame I remembered you were in oz and got confused with time difference when tomorrow was haha! ok well I will keep up the good thoughts for an extra 24 hours!

Tinypeanut1224 · 09/11/2021 12:25

Thanks @Lucylulu1and @Cruz86 - Ive done another test this morning and it's still a strong positive but if I'm totally honest it looks lighter than my others so I'm not holding out too much hope. I have called the EPU though and they've agreed to see me tomorrow afternoon for a scan (if I don't start bleeding before then). I really really hope things are going to be ok but after two previous losses in the last 6 months I'm not feeling too good about it. Errrghh why is it all so stressful?

Tinypeanut1224 · 09/11/2021 12:28

@laurenGame - It's so stressful isn't it? Are you having any cramps at all? I'm having some mild ones but then I don't seem to be bleeding when they'e happening? It's mostly in my lower back. Really hope you have some good news from your scan. I've managed to get booked in for one tomorrow at 14:30 so hopefully I'll know more then! x

CaptainCarp · 09/11/2021 12:37

@laurenGame @Tinypeanut1224 fingers crossed 🤞 eveeything is OK for you both for tomorrow.

Trinxsy · 09/11/2021 12:46

No follow up scan for me @cruz86, there's no concerns at all now so just my dating scan at 12 weeks. I am going to book an early scan at around 9 as I don't think I can hang on that long.
I'm not sleeping at the moment, my anxiety is just telling me that I'm going to lose the baby again. I'm really struggling to be quite honest

Cruz86 · 09/11/2021 14:05

Haha the tantrums aren't too bad if you have patience and understanding @Lucylulu1 (easier said than done 🤪).

Who will be finding out the sex of the baby? I'm going to this time round so that I can say to my first "Mummy has a baby and it's going to be your little brother/sister."

@missv556 I've also been reading some stuff about skincare as I use salicylic and a retinol cream. Really not sure what to do as it says to consult dr on the labels too?

Oh I'm so sorry @Tinypeanut1224. I really hope it's just your eyes playing tricks on you and that everything is okay at your scan tomorrow. Keep us updated.

@Trinxsy if you're struggling please seek some help. It is an anxiety ridden time at the best of times, let alone when you have extra stress like you've had. I'm surprised they haven't offered a follow up scan. I had one with my first pregnancy at about 5 weeks and they could see a yolk/sac but not baby and they told me to come back a couple of weeks later to see the heartbeat. If you are finding it difficult, maybe another scan will help to put your mind at ease?

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 09/11/2021 14:33

Peanuts are definitely good to eat in pregnancy - at least according to a project I did in medical school Grin. They should help induce tolerance to peanut allergens in your baby, so advised to eat during pregnancy + breastfeeding, and to expose to early on in weaning (pre 6 months).

Interestingly, they discovered it after realising that Israel has very low rates of peanut allergy, and put two and two together with the fact that Bamba is a very common snack there and contains peanuts! Smile

missv556 · 09/11/2021 15:18

@Cruz86 definitely want to find out the gender. No way I could wait til birth lol I wanna know now! 😂

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I don't eat a lot of peanuts, it's mostly around Christmas time tbh. I cant control myself and I end up eating too many and upset my stomach so I steer clear for the most part. But good to know I could have a few if I wanted

MSJK · 09/11/2021 15:24

@Cruz86 I’m planning not to find out! I like the idea of it being a surprise but time will tell if I manage to last that long!

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 09/11/2021 15:31

@missv556 unfortunately I absolutely HATE peanuts so my poor baby will just have to be weaned onto them nice and early because he/she certainly isn't getting any from me Grin

Is anyone planning on getting NIPT? If so, anyone recommend anywhere in London?

Mads96 · 09/11/2021 15:34

@Cruz86 I'll be finding out this time too, my first was a surprise but as she's 3 I think it would be easier saying she's going to have a brother or sister rather than just baby.

Also I want to know for preparation!!

missv556 · 09/11/2021 15:39

I had to google what NIPT was. But I think I probably will do it. Anything to ease my mind I'll take.

I'm currently lying in bed feeling bloated from a sandwich I ate 2 hours ago 🙃 I might have to avoid bread for a while cos I had massive bloating on Saturday after eating bread too

camvt · 09/11/2021 15:48

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I had NIPT done via NHS with my last pregnancy. They took the blood sample on the same day as the 12-week scan. Not sure if that's standardised, but maybe check with your midwife if they'll offer it before going private.

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 09/11/2021 15:48

@Cruz86 I will definitely be finding out! Hopefully with the NIPT at 10-11 weeks...

@missv556 it seems like a good idea to me, too. I can't quite work out how much it costs though - many places seem to bundle it in with an early scan which I'm not fussed about and don't want to pay extra for

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 09/11/2021 15:52

@camvt Thank you! I wasn't aware that was an option unless high risk! Would be great if so.

camvt · 09/11/2021 16:00

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I think it's offered as standard, just saw it here: www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/screening-tests/

Only downside is they don't tell you the sex of the baby like the private ones offer.

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 09/11/2021 16:11

@camvt hmm, this suggests it's only if you're higher risk after the 12 week scan / 12 week bloods. I think possibly it depends on your local hospital guidelines, but I'm not sure it's standard yet, sadly.

Hopefully I'm wrong... although this would take away my reasoning to my husband about why I'm spending £300 to find out the sex at 11 weeks Grin

camvt · 09/11/2021 16:20

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou ah yes, you're right! I completely confused the tests - the test I had done was the combined test which is what they use to determine if you're at a higher-risk! Sorry about the confusion 🤪

CaptainCarp · 09/11/2021 16:27

@Cruz86 we're not planning on finding out as I want a surprise!
DP already has a child & he found out prior to birth that time but said he didn't mind knowing or not this time.

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou another peanut hater! Although DP likes them so won't be completely unexposed.
