Hello everyone! I am 4 weeks + 2 days - ovulated on 19th/20th Oct. This is my first pregnancy and was the first month that we were trying, so feeling slightly shell-shocked!

I somehow managed to catch norovirus the day before yesterday requiring fluids and antiemetics in hospital, so not off to the greatest start so far...but still have a nice, strong positive line so fingers crossed that it didn't affect anything too much.

So glad to finally have some people to discuss all of this with given it's too early to tell family / friends!

sle0911 · 08/11/2021 10:00

Hi everyone hope you're all well!! I have just got my 3+ on a digital so I'm happy and will now step away from the tests! 😂 May also contact the GP today too! X

@laurenGame fingers crossed everything will look fine on weds! ❤️
I told close friends, but only people that I consider to be my support network.

laurenGame · 08/11/2021 10:21

Thanks @Elsols93 when is your scan? I don't particularly feel sick but I've gone off a lot of foods and my OH jokes that he's no good to me now as I don't eat any of his delicious foods and we've stopped having sex for now until the scan (my bleeding started after we had sex twice in a day Blush)

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 08/11/2021 10:22

@laurenGame could be cervical erosion if after sex?

Elsols93 · 08/11/2021 10:32

@laurenGame my scans Wednesday too! I had no sickness WhT so ever with my 1st so I think every pregnancy is different ain’t it, my spotting also started with DS after sex aswell I never had a early scan then so I actually waited I think till 12 weeks partner was not best pleased 😂

Elsols93 · 08/11/2021 10:34

Also welcome to the July crew @DrPrincessFluffyToYou & @sle0911 ❤️ Really is nice having this group through the anxiety’s and worry’s we all help each other ❤️

laurenGame · 08/11/2021 11:05

Hahah @Elsols93 my DP was actually the one stopping all the sex as he was freaked out he caused the bleeding!

Is bleeding after sex in pregnancy actually a thing? I'm seeing a few couples on here abstaining from sex until 12 weeks. GP said it's not an issue but I'm starting to wonder if it is..

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou I haven't even read on erosion, none of the drs mentioned it 🤷‍♀️

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 08/11/2021 11:17

@laurenGame cervical erosion / ectropion is a very common cause of post coital (after sex) bleeding in early pregnancy. The sensitive inner part of the cervix is caused to grow outwards and become exposed due to all the pregnancy hormones, then if it’s touched by anything (eg a penis…!) it is “friable” and bleeds easily.

Obviously still worth being checked out to make sure it’s nothing else but I’m surprised this wasn’t mentioned!

laurenGame · 08/11/2021 11:36

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou that makes so much sense, it's so strange none of the health professionals mentioned it: 1. Ambulance staff, 2. Drs/nurses in emergency, 3. My GP.

Although I didn't mention that I had sex , I didn't think it was in any way relayed and I was in too much of a shock from fainting at the sight of blood. Thank you so much 🌸 for educating me , it's at least some potential explanation!

Is everyone else abstaining from sex?

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 08/11/2021 11:43

No problem! I mean, I would still defer to whoever is looking after you as I don't have details e.g other symptoms / HCG levels / PMHx etc but it's definitely a common cause of bleeding after sex in pregnancy.

laurenGame · 08/11/2021 11:49

@DrPrincessFluffyToYou
Hcg levels were 19k last Wednesday and only 20k on Friday Sad I was 6 weeks.

Feel like I can't get reassurance whichever way I look 😆

I'm starting to think maybe it's better to wait for 8-10 week scan and do nothing until then! All the extra testing just caused worry! X

DrPrincessFluffyToYou · 08/11/2021 11:56

@laurenGame I think there's something to that. Although hard not to go for all the tests when they feel like they might give you the answer sooner!

I was in hospital last week with a fever / vomiting bug, and considered getting an early scan to see if baby is still ok but then decided it probably wouldn't change anything so changed my mind... No right answer I don't think!

Kellraiser · 08/11/2021 12:21

Hi all, just got a positive test this morning. Baby #4 for me 😳
My other three are 8, 10 and 12 from a previous marriage, been with my new partner for 4 1/2 years now and it was very planned but feels scary now it's real!
Been trying since July so wasn't expecting it this month at all, haven't quite processed it. Haven't even told the dad yet! Wondering whether to just blurt it out or plan something cute.
So excited to go on this journey again

Effram · 08/11/2021 12:25

Lots of love @laurenGame the waiting must be horrendous! I have cervical ectropion and have had bleeding after sex both pregnant and not pregnant, it's surprisingly common!

Congrats to all the newcomers!

I think I am 6 weeks today, still feeling the same level fo constant nausea which is reassuring really, and my booking appt is a week today.

missv556 · 08/11/2021 12:35

Afternoon all

Quite an eventful 24 hours. Yesterday I had some light pink spotting on and off. Trying not to worry but it's almost impossible not to really. Then today about 45 minutes into my shift at work, literally out of nowhere I burst into tears. Nothing set it off, it just happened lol the hormones are raging clearly 🤣 it's crazy

In terms of sex I had sex the same evening I found out I was pregnant. Not had it since. Was going to last night but I was fairly upset about the spotting so wasn't in the mood tbh. Plus kinda scared I'd cause more bleeding if I did

Cruz86 · 08/11/2021 12:46

Great to hear everything looks as it should for you @Trinxsy! Have they asked you to go back for a follow up scan?

It's interesting to read everyone's opinions on the flu jab. I'm 28 and have no reason to have one (in normal circumstances) but I'm now questioning whether I should. Has anyone here not been vaccinated for Covid? Hopefully no judgement here but I haven't yet and I'm really undecided about what to do now that I'm pregnant. Starts to make you question things more!

@sle0911 glad you've got your 3+! I'm still waiting for mine and it is starting to worry me now 🤦🏼‍♀️ but I've got an early scan booked in for next Monday so I'll know either way by then.

Has the bleeding settled down now @laurenGame? And you have your follow up scan next week? I haven't had sex and probably won't for a little while but it's only because if anything happened I'd blame myself for it 😂

feliznavidad2 · 08/11/2021 13:25

Bless you @missv556 it's an anxiety ridden old time and as you say, hormones are rife... Hope you're feeling a bit better now.

I cried whilst listening to 4yo DS' fave Greatest Showman soundtrack in the car earlier. BlushHmm

missv556 · 08/11/2021 13:31

@feliznavidad2 the spotting seems to have died down. Currently lying on the sofa watching Netflix under a blanket. Having a me day. Will be interesting to see what sets me off next 😂

Elsols93 · 08/11/2021 13:38

@Cruz86 I’m also 28 I never got the flu jab whilst pregnant before I remember speaking to my midwife at first appointment and asked her if she had hers whilst pregnant and she looked away which gave to me she never so I didn’t .... haven’t been vaccinated for covid and tbh don’t plan to either right now xx

MSJK · 08/11/2021 13:52

I’m 29 and I have no medical reason to get a flu jab but I pay for one every year just because flu can be really nasty so I’d rather do what I can to avoid it. I had mine a couple of weeks ago so I would have been a few days pregnant I guess! I personally would take all the vaccinations I’m offered but at the end of the day you have to be comfortable in your own decisions.

I’m also vaccinated against Covid and will take a booster if I’m offered one. I understand pregnancy increases your chances of being sick from it so perhaps that’s why it’s on your mind? But again, it’s a decision you have to be comfortable with! Can I ask is there any particular reason that you haven’t yet?

Effram · 08/11/2021 13:58

I cried at the paw patrol movie last week haha!

I have had my Covid jabs and will take the booster when offered, and as said above I will have the flu jab (and whooping cough) again too.

the research I've done has convinced me that unvaccinated pregnant women appear to be over-represented in hospital covid patient numbers i.e. being hit more severely if they do get it. There is increasing evidence (as more and more women have the jab on top of clinical trials) that there is no risk from the jab to the baby and that as well as protecting the mother it conveys some level of protective antibodies to the baby through the womb and then later through breastfeeding too.

In other news we have just bought a car (not had one before!) and my husband has said let's avoid any excessive expenditure for next year. I was like um... apart from the baby I guess...

camvt · 08/11/2021 14:56

I am having my flu vaccination today and will take the covid booster when the time comes (probably january for me). I had a cold about a week and a half ago that completely wiped me out and I'm pretty sure it was intensified because of the pregnancy, so I wouldn't want to leave it to chance with flu/covid.

Being pregnant last year without having any protection against covid was awful! Knowing about the risks, I was constantly worried and ended up completely isolating through the Christmas period when cases were very high. Being vaccinated now I feel much safer and more relaxed about it (although still being cautious). I would definitely advocate for taking the vaccines that are offered, but of course everyone should do what they're comfortable with.

Am I the only one without symptoms? 6+3 today and only feeling very tired.

Elsols93 · 08/11/2021 14:57

I had covid before and my body fought it off naturally on its own and I had no more then a cold and although there is a chance I could get again I’m choosing against it especially whilst pregnant anyways that’s just my personal opinion Everyone has their own x

missv556 · 08/11/2021 15:22

@camvt I've not had any major symptoms yet but I'm only 4+2. My boobs feel a bit bruised and not able to eat as much as I used too and fatigue, thats about it. I'm a sleepy girl anyway so had I not known I was pregnant it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to make me question anything haha
