It's funny you should say about the Clearblue tests @i123i because I had every intention of getting one next week to make sure it was 3+ 😬 I just find it really difficult to comprehend that we wouldn't know if anything was wrong for another 8 weeks. It makes me so nervous!

Hahaha I love the 'everything is highlighted purple' @Elsols93 and @HotToddyColdSauvignon 😂 I think I was worse when TTC and in the TWW compared to now!

Oh wow @Effram, that does sound really traumatic. I'm so sorry you had to experience that! I do take comfort in knowing that, despite what you went through, you still decided to have a home birth for your second and it was a much better experience. Was your first child at home during the birth?

Thanks for the recommendation too @i123i - I'll definitely check it out.

Effram · 27/10/2021 11:50

That's a brilliant book! I also think the positive birth book is a great read for whatever your plans including sections. X

Effram · 27/10/2021 11:51

He was, he slept through the whole thing ! (I went into labour around midnight). He was actually a big oxytocin boost for me, imagining him sleeping upstairs. And not having to worry about childcare for him helped.

Pinklemonade16 · 27/10/2021 11:55

So I self referred two days ago and just got my booking appointments (I’m guessing it’s that as I’ll be nine weeks?) but it’s over the phone. Is this normal. @i123i sorry I’m tagging you because I seen you wrote you got your booking ap

Effram · 27/10/2021 11:59

@Pinklemonade16 I wonder if that is a covid legacy? Obviously it used to be in person bhg then they changed to on the phone and then they do bloods etc when you go for scan to reduce contacts. Bit of a shame if they're still doing that!

Pinklemonade16 · 27/10/2021 12:00

@Effram yeah I thought as much just seems a little weird that I won’t even see anyone before my first scan

i123i · 27/10/2021 12:01

@Cruz86 - agreed it’s super tempting as you have no real confirmation until the 12w scan! Totally up to you if you want to still do it; I’ve just read it can cause unnecessary stress and worry too.

@Pinklemonade16 - I think each NHS trust is different and it also depends on availability. My booking in appointment is at the local “Children’s Centre” linked to the hospital, and my first scan is not at my hospital of choice (it’s still in the same hospital group in London) but they said that was due to appointment availability at the hospital, and I should just make sure I ask them to book the 20w scan at the right hospital. 🙏🏻 Hope it works out.

If you have a strong preference for in person then it might be worth a call and pushing for it? I have no experience as to what happens in that appointment, although I thought blood/urine samples were taken then, but maybe they’ll do that at your 12w scan instead?

i123i · 27/10/2021 12:02

Ah my message crossed with @Effram! But sounds like it could be COVID legacy….

Elsols93 · 27/10/2021 12:09

@Pinklemonade16 my midwife is coming to my house for 1st appointment which is all new to me! X

laurenGame · 27/10/2021 12:38

@i123i you're probably right about digitalis, I've got one left and was going to use it this morning but then realised it's not been an exact week since my BFP so I didn't.

I've just for this one digital left which might use on the weekend, and then that's it - waiting for my 7 week test :)

I feel relaxed about things now and even had salami today and I don't think I'm supposed to eat it Blush

Anxiousnewbie · 27/10/2021 12:50

@jadeypies that's great you're only 2 days off your mini target. Sending you lots of luck and positivity for this pregnancy. I've got long cycles to so my missed period is only on Friday, so it's going to be a long wait until I get to the 6 week mark!

@cruz86 I know what you mean about wanting to get a 3+ on the digital weeks indicator to check for progression. But it also makes me very nervous if I didn't see progression (which could mean a whole number of reasons not necessarily negative).

The TWW was bad, but waiting for a scan feels even harder!

Cruz86 · 27/10/2021 13:56

I'll take a look at the positive birth book too, thank you @Effram. So lovely to hear about your son being asleep upstairs. That honestly sounds like my dream birth ❤️ Can't believe we've ended up getting onto birth already and we're not even halfway through the first trimester 😂

Yes I appreciate you bringing it up @i123i. I'm going to try really hard not to use one! I had a couple of early scans in my last pregnancy because of left sided pain due to a haemorrhagic cyst, so won't get that this time round! Waiting around really is the worst @Anxiousnewbie!

Does anyone feel completely unsatisfied with food at the moment? Like, I'm starving but don't fancy anything and then I start to feel sick and weak. I don't know what to eat to make this feel better 😂

annie1994 · 27/10/2021 15:33

I was 15 weeks pregnant with my first child when we went into first lockdown and felt completely neglected tbh they scrapped loads of appointments/ scans/ investigations because they weren’t deemed crucial. All the health visitor stuff for my 14mo is still over phone 🙄 I was hoping things with midwives were back to normal. @Pinklemonade16 for my booking appt with my first (Jan 2020) they did bloods, weight, blood pressure etc. So I assume they will do all that another time for you? They must have it all planned out but on the receiving end I know it’s not very nice!!

i123i · 27/10/2021 15:51

@jadeypies - that’s great about your target. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

@Effram - thanks! I will also check out that book. All about educating myself as much as possible on this journey.

@laurenGame - it’s bizarre, every country has different recommendations about pregnant women can and can’t eat. Some even recommend cured meats…! It is good to be cautious but I’m not one to be too paranoid. Even had a runny soft boiled egg the other day. WILD. 😂

@Cruz86 - it’s really hard to resist the lure of those tests! I’m just not buying any now. Otherwise I’d be tempted to test every few days. Best way to avoid it. That’s what I did during the TWW. Didn’t buy any tests until day af was due.
Sorry to hear about the food dissatisfaction. I guess you just have to try and eat eg. little and often of your favourite snacks. Better than nothing!

@annie1994 - sorry to hear about that pregnancy experience during COVID. Happened to quite a few friends of mine. Even their 6 week post birth check up was over the phone!!! Really wasn’t proportionate.

annie1994 · 27/10/2021 15:55

@i123i that’s so awful their postnatal check up was over phone!! I feel so sorry for them. Luckily both me and my baby got seen face to face at 8 weeks by the GP. Hopefully things will just keep getting back to normal for us all🤞🏼

HotToddyColdSauvignon · 27/10/2021 16:17

Can I have a wobble?

As I didn’t have a cycle, no one is really sure if I’m 3 weeks / 4 weeks / potentially 5 weeks…

Midwife suggested 4, so I've been making myself feel better reading that by 4 weeks, it’s implanted and things are growing etc.

But just had a call with a dr from an early scan company, and she advised I’m potentially 3 weeks still Sad so couldn’t book me in for an early scan even for another month.

Just a bit…. Aaargh, I know, I know, once the morning sickness starts I’ll want to wish back to now where there’s nothing. But I just cant believe there’s something in there right now

Trinxsy · 27/10/2021 16:26

Sorry to hear that HotToddy , if it helps, with DS I had 0 symptoms the entire pregnancy apart from missed period! He was definitely in there!

I'm 3 weeks today and I'm already getting dye stealers, period isn't due until the 30th. Hoping its just the one in there...never had dye stealers with MC even at 6 ish weeks which is making me get my hopes up and think baby is here to stay.
Definitely not booking in with midwives for a few weeks just in case.

Radrose · 27/10/2021 16:29

Hope I'm not too late to pop in here. According to all the apps, I'm either 4 weeks today, or 4+1, so due either 5th or 6th of July. Got a faint positive on 9dpo, and they've gotten stronger since, but I think because I got the positive so early, I'm really really paranoid something will go wrong. This is my first pregnancy, and our first month trying properly, so also didn't expect it to happen straight away! Is the anxiety normal, and the constant feeling that it's not going to last?

Symptom wise, I've had a bout of insomnia since 5 days dpo, which I'm putting down as pregnancy related, and I feel like I've been repeatedly punched in the boobs! I was feeling sick every day about 3pm, but that's lifted today. I think I ate a bit more regularly, so that might be it.

It's actually been so nice reading back through this thread and seeing where everyone is at, a bit of reassurance!

Holskey · 27/10/2021 16:49

I've also realised Clearblue with the weeks indicator is a terrible idea. I did one yesterday at 4 weeks exactly, excited to see the word "pregnant" but found myself concerned that it said 1-2 instead of 2-3, even though 1-2 is still correct!

@effram, I'm obsessed with that miscarriage calculator and have the tab permanently there 🙈 I used it throughout my first and it's great when you get down to the low percentages.

@missy95 sorry to hear you're bleeding. I know it's worrying but often has a good outcome Flowers

beansprout55 · 27/10/2021 16:58

5 and half weeks pregnant, I had implantation bleeding at 11DPO (it was just brown spotting!) but today I just wiped a few hours ago and saw a bit of pink tinged cm? Freaking out BIG time. Is this bad news for us? 🙁 it was only a tiny about but still....

Jenjingo · 27/10/2021 17:05

Hello ladies
Over the moon to see 2 lines appear this morning.
I stuck it out and tested a bit later this month at 15 dpo as I had a chemical last month after testing too early.
Congrats to everyone!

Missy95 · 27/10/2021 18:54

Welcome to all the newbies and congratulations on your amazing news 🥰

Little update regarding bleeding - had a few spots of pink cm this morn but this evening it turned bright red, not as much as a period but similar. I did nhs111 online which told me to ring my gp. I got a phonecall back within half an hour. She said that it can be very common and as long as its no heavier and im not in pain, I shouldn't worry too much. She is going to call me next Tuesday and possibly get me booked in for an early scan. So unfortunately its just a waiting game 🥺

I had a good chat with baby and a bloated belly rub 🤣 we are gonna fight through and stay strong and positive ☺️ luckily my OH is super positive. He's so laid back he's practically laying down. So he keeps me from stooping into a low mood xx

Missy95 · 27/10/2021 18:56

Ps, bleeding was only bright red once when wiping (sorry for tmi) and has since settled - the doc said thats also a good sign x

i123i · 27/10/2021 18:59

That sounds like a good update @Missy95. 🙏🏻 ❤️ Well done on staying strong and positive!

Missy95 · 27/10/2021 19:06
