@Tokyo87 you could make your own with a normal water bottle and pierce some holes into the lid. It’s only useful if you end up with cuts or stitches otherwise you should be ok.

@Mamabearwhere @unicornpower congratulations

Good luck today @Newmum110

FTEngineerM · 15/09/2021 11:32

@Tokyo87 I wouldn’t buy one yet I had a manky episiotomy that got infected and then stitches that came apart and did’t need one. It didn’t ‘sting’ or anything at all really.

Had my consultant appt & final growth scan this morning at 40 + 2. I'm booked in for an induction on Tuesday if nothing happens before then. Good news I'm 1cm dilated & my cervix completely soft (totally different to last week) so I've had a stretch & sweep at the hospital too. They also found traces of blood in my urine.. likely to be my plug so hoping I'll go into labour naturally before Tuesday and things might be starting! My afternoon is going to consist of ball bouncing.

Good luck to everyone who's inductions are starting today or in the next few days! And congrats again to all the latest arrivals! 😍

LauEli · 15/09/2021 14:23

@showmorekindness I went in for monitoring yesterday morning due to increased movement. Not because I thought I was in labour but because like you I thought she was trying to push herself out of my stomach 😂 was on the monitor for 35 mins and they seemed happy she wasnt distressed and her heart rate was consistent.
If babies movement doesn't feel right you can ring the day unit and they will invite you in for monitoring to put your mind at ease if you so wish 😊

Hopefulmummie · 15/09/2021 14:24

40 weeks.. Sweep done 😷 I'm already nearly 2cm so hopefully a good sign. Booked in for next available induction but said hospital it mental for inductions atm so don't know when that will be

Poppins2016 · 15/09/2021 15:50

@Tokyo87 I used "Bottoms Up" spray which is available in Boots when I had my last baby, I found it very soothing and would recommend (I actually keep forgetting to go out and purchase it again but keep intending to, this has acted as a reminder!): www.boots.com/natural-birthing-company-bottoms-up-soothing-bottom-spray-100ml-10248550

I'm now 41 + 4 by NHS scan dates (slightly under by my own) had a sweep yesterday, another scheduled for tomorrow and just had a scan/waiting to see consultant due to being "post dates". Very keen to avoid induction and hoping that I can just have additional monitoring if it comes to it... there will be lots of bouncing on the exercise ball later!

showmorekindness · 15/09/2021 17:05

Thanks @LauEli I hadn't considered that it might be a sign of distress or that I'd be advised to come in for monitoring. She is back to her usual movements today but will keep an eye on her.

Hey ladies. I had my 38 week midwife appointment this afternoon and based on the bump measurement I've gone from 95th percentile to just over 10th 😫. Obviously been referred for a growth scan, the measurement was 2cm less than 2 weeks ago... I've not had any scans since 20 weeks so I'm really nervous now.
Midwife did say she wasn't worried and that measurements are not very accurate, especially as he's now 4/5 engaged which is keeping my anxiety down a bit.
Just a bit taken aback as I feel enormous and was expecting to be right up there on the growth chart again, definitely feel bigger than I did 2 weeks ago!

What do they do at a growth scan? How long is it etc?

CobleCloud · 15/09/2021 18:47

@marshmallowmode aw do not worry, I've had growth scans at 32, 36 and 40+2 weeks now. All they've done with mine is take some measurements, baby's head, leg length, look at the heart, measure fluid around baby and make sure the cord is working. Think each of mine have lasted 10 mins max and then they plot on the graph on your notes. Then afterwards I've seen a dr or consultant and they chat through what they found.

Jary6 · 15/09/2021 19:51

@marshmallowmode don't worry, I had a growth scan as I was always 1cm smaller than I should have been and then at my 38 week appointment I was 4cm behind so I had a growth scan same day. They measured all his limbs etc and he was actually measuring fine but my bump had shown smaller because I went from 4/5 engaged to 1/5 engaged so more of him has moved down.

Weird thing was I gained about 3kg in those two weeks so wasn't expecting to be smaller. Since then I've gained another 2kg and feel massive but based on his scan he's normal.

I think the tape measurement is very inaccurate and so they just use as a guide and later they expect you to change so it's more of a check than concern. At least they are checking and I quite enjoyed getting another sneak peak before his arrival. I'm 38 + 5 so hoping he arrives soon.

Scotti84 · 15/09/2021 20:17

@Tokyo87 i had birth with suction cup and needed a fair few stitches afterwards. They gave me a jug in the hospital to pour warm water over instead of using loo roll so i dont catch the stitches and keep it clean, it is a bit weird at first but it does help and when my stitches had itched a bit it eased that too.

marshmallowmode · 15/09/2021 20:41

@CobleCloud @Jary6 thanks both for the reassurance! I'm trying to think of it in terms of it being nice to get another look at him before he arrives 😊. Hopefully get it done before the weekend so I don't fret!

Tokyo87 · 16/09/2021 10:25

@Scotti84 @Poppins2016 @FTEngineerM @Mamabearwhere thanks ladies, good to know about the bottoms up from boots, may see how I go and can always send DP for some if I need it!

Had my midwife appointment yesterday and she advised get an induction booked in just incase, so have it down for 6th Oct, when I'll be 41+5. Really hoping I go in labour naturally before then though 🤞🏼

Hopefulmummie · 16/09/2021 11:33

Have my induction booked for tomorrow morning 😬 allowed home for a few hours after then they'll admit me tomorrow evening as I have group b strep and I mentioned reduced movements over the last few days. Unfortunately my partner won't be allowed in until I'm in active labour so I'm hoping things progress quickly 🤞🏼

Hopefulmummie · 16/09/2021 11:34

Also lost my mucus plug this morning so hoping things happen on their own before induction tomorrow

MrsMcNtobe · 16/09/2021 20:29

@unicornpower that hormone drip has honestly left me traumatised, it really messed with my little girls heart rate hence why I ended up with an emergency section. The pain just went from zero to 1000 in what felt like minutes x

Squibble84 · 16/09/2021 20:32

@MrsMcNtobe I refused the hormone drip this time for that exact reason, with DD1, her heart rate kept going through the roof and it ended up in an emcs. Still ended up in an emcs this time as well but I refused almost all other interventions, except for the epidural, that I took! 😅

Jary6 · 16/09/2021 20:55

@MrsMcNtobe @Squibble84 I was on the hormone drip the first time round and am really hoping this baby comes naturally. I'm 39 weeks tomorrow and hoping he starts making a move otherwise I think I'll be back on that drip.

When I was on the drip the pain was crazy and my daughters heart rate kept dropping every time they turned it up. The epidural was amazing for sorting the pain, I'd happily have that again Smile

KHR1 · 16/09/2021 22:10

First time I had the hormone drip it was awful, was screaming for an epidural pretty quickly after it was turned on. This time I didn't find it quite as bad until the last like 15 minutes which seemed horrific but Zach was born so quickly compared to DC1. The drip definitely seems to make things go from 0-1000 so quickly

Taybz · 17/09/2021 13:56

Hi ladies, how's everyone feeling? 40+3 and still no real sign of baby! To those who had their babies, was there a build-up of signs? I feel absolutely fine today minus the huge bump resting on my bits! Wondering if he's going to make an entrance any time soon or I'll have to be induced!

steph246 · 17/09/2021 14:40

Afternoon ladies hope everyone is doing okay? ☺️
I am 38 & 5 xxx
Little question;
I am having period cramps mainly low they are noticeable and uncomfortable but not the worst pain ever. Noticeable, dull, cramps as if my period would be here right now.
My bump is also tightening and going very hard.
Been having the cramps for a while now, but these seem a tad more intense.

I am going to keep an eye on them.

Is this braxton hicks or possibly could lead into the real deal?

Thanks xx

LauEli · 17/09/2021 14:46

@steph246 sounds promising 🤞 that's how number 1 started for me 😁 good luck

steph246 · 17/09/2021 14:54

@LauEli
I do hope so 😂

Although I haven't had a show or lost my plug or anything this is why I am wondering if it is just braxton hicks x

leftitlate37 · 17/09/2021 15:17

@Taybz had absolutely no signs at all! Did a 5 mile walk day before and felt good! Waters broke next morn at 38+6. I still had 2 get induced as had group b strep.. ! Good luck and hope u get some movement soon!
