Hi all, my little man who we've named Oliver Coble Jones arrived at 11:33pm last night weighing 7lbs 10! 💙 my sweep Wednesday obviously worked and he arrived very quick! We are still in hospital hoping to go home later!

Those of you still waiting don't worry honestly mine came on so fast and he was out, I was booked in for induction next Tues which obviously won't be happening now! Grin

LauEli · 17/09/2021 17:01

@steph246 I didn't have any of that with first labour either. Just awful back ache. Contractions. Could not get comfy. They broke my water at 6cm.

D0nut · 17/09/2021 17:36

Congratulations @CobleCloud! Lovely news

Squibble84 · 17/09/2021 18:28

Congratulations @CobleCloud! Xx

AdventuresAwait · 17/09/2021 18:35

Congratulations @CobleCloud and welcome Oliver! Xx

Scotti84 · 17/09/2021 20:33

Congrats @CobleCloud! Hope you are both doing well x

@MrsMcNtobe the drip was the same for me. Fortunately I had an epidural before they put me on the drip because I was having contractions without a break and the pain was unbearable. After 3 hrs pushing Lillys heartrate was climbing with every contraction and my waters turned green which meant she'd done a poop and was in distress. Plus she couldnt move down as the cord was round her neck. They told me it looked like it would have to be a c section but fortunately the lead consultant hadn't gone home yet, so he tried with the suction cup and as I pushed, he held her head so she couldn't move back up. Honestly ive never been so scared in my life. It hurt like hell but I knew I had to get her out. When I think about what could have happened I could cry all over again. I hope to have another baby, but would definitely make different choices next time

MrsMcNtobe · 17/09/2021 20:49

@Scotti84 See I think I was the opposite, they literally JUST managed to break my waters cos my cervix still wasn’t really ready and then all contractions were controlled with the drip and thinking back on it now I should never have let them continue to stop and start it because it could really have harmed my wee one and I keep thinking about it over and over and wondering what might have happened.
I’ve been moaning about a pulsing feeling in my back which is apparently a side effect of an epidural and said to my other half I thought they’d have told me about side effects and he said I signed a form but that was after morphine so I wasn’t even on this planet and I don’t remember 😂😂😂

FTEngineerM · 18/09/2021 04:58

Congratulations @CobleCloud

bluemagicalsky · 18/09/2021 08:34

Congratulations to everyone who have had theirs babies already

I'm 39 + 4. I'm a little bit concerned about baby's position. A lot of the time I have 2 big lumps either side of my belly button, almost like he's curled up in a hammock laying side to side. Has anyone else had this? I rang yesterday and I'm going in for a scan tomorrow to check his position. I could be completely wrong. My midwife really struggled to tell how he was laying at my last appt but didn't refer me. I'm a homebirth, so think this is making it more of a concern to me. Anyone been completely wrong about babies position? I haven't had a scan since 20 weeks x

FTEngineerM · 18/09/2021 08:42

@bluemagicalsky I don’t know if this happens with everyone but it’s worth a go(?) if I lay on my right hand side in bed his back/bum swings round to that side and I can feel a big hard lump from under my right rib down to my pelvis. Then if I roll over to the left his back/bum swings over that side. Usually ending up with butt in ribs which is awfully uncomfy but at least it might give you an idea of what part is where.

SP2Bx · 18/09/2021 09:48

@bluemagicalsky I'm 39+3 and home birth too. Midwife came on Thurs and struggled to feel baby's position but what she thought was it's back was on the complete opposite side to where it has been all along! I usually have a real hard bump all down the left hand side and a very obvious bum in my ribs! But the last few days I haven't got a clue where baby is lying! It's 2/5s engaged now so right on down there and when I've googled images of that baby almost seems sideways so wondering if it's because of that? But like you from a homebirth perspective it's making me a bit anxious, although midwife isn't worried at all so, I guess neither am I!!

Newmum110 · 18/09/2021 12:46

Had my lovely little boy yesterday after 3 days in induction which resulted in emergency c section. Not how I wanted things to go but as everyone says once they are here healthy nothing else matters.

Hopefulmummie · 18/09/2021 15:49

So fed up.. Foley balloon has been in 24 hours so should be getting took out soon but there's a backlog of people waiting to get their waters broke which I'll join.. All have been waiting since yesterday or day before so I think it will be at least tomorrow before mines are. Was admitted to induction ward so can't even wait at home

Poppins2016 · 18/09/2021 19:53

Baby Thomas arrived safely on 16-09-21 (12 days overdue!), I gave birth at home in the pool as planned which was lovely, although it all happened very fast in the end (midwives were only with us for an hour before he was born)!

KHR1 · 18/09/2021 19:57

Congrats to all of those who new babies!

@Hopefulmummie hope the backlog goes down quickly so that you aren't waiting too long

Poppins2016 · 18/09/2021 20:08

@SP2Bx @bluemagicalsky I felt the same about baby's position but I think it was because the head was so low all I could feel was shoulders/back/bottom but not quite in the usual place! All was fine and head down for birth! 🙂

Sillysocks998 · 18/09/2021 21:06

@Poppins2016 congratulations on Thomas🎉 and congratulations to everyone else too. I've had a little catch up today on here. Our baby AJ is 5 weeks old now. I think I was the first to have a baby in our group.
These muggy nights are hard. How's eveyone finding breast feeding.

FTEngineerM · 18/09/2021 21:14

Congratulations @Poppins2016

I’m still waiting but had my first sweep today at 41 weeks woohoo. You were I think @Sillysocks998 maybe the same day as @Kirky658 too? How much is little one feeding through the night?

SP2Bx · 18/09/2021 21:16

Ah congratulations @Poppins2016 💙 and on the home birth - sounds wonderful! x

Kirky658 · 18/09/2021 21:42

@ftengineerm @sillysocks998 yep Alice is 5 weeks old now too. We are trialling 4 hourly EBM feeds atm, so up at 2am and 6am which is great! She's taking about 550ml a day and is nkw 6lb 6 oz. X

D0nut · 18/09/2021 21:55

Congratulations @Newmum110 and @Poppins2016! Hope you’re both recovering well.

Sillysocks998 · 18/09/2021 22:24

Hi @Kirky658 what does ebm mean?
I'm BF and Formula. I don't know much breast milk he has but I am expressing around 4 ounces a day! It's not much. Then breast on top. AJ is on nutriprem 2. He has I'd say 350 to 400mls a day but I don't actually know anymore because I can't see how much breast he has. When at hosp he was on 40mls every 3 hours at 34 weeks old. He's now 6.5 pounds. I give a formula bottle once or twice overnight and 1 or 2 times in day. He on breast around 10 x a day. I found the breast feeding very demanding. I couldn't pump and feed around the clock. It was depressing me all the pressure. So I'm at a better place now with combi feeding. What was Alices birth weight? AJ was 4.3 pounds. Our little warriors ❤️. @FTEngineerM x

Sillysocks998 · 18/09/2021 22:26

I'm up around 1 to 2am and around 5am. Doing a nappy and feed. Hubby does one and ido the other. As long as they have steady gain I think, that should be OK. By our 5th /6th week shouldn't we be producing more milk? Like 24 ounces a day? @Kirky658

Kirky658 · 19/09/2021 07:31

Morning @sillysocks998. Apologies i am using hospital terms, EBM is expressed breast milk. I've tried to bf Alice but she needs a nipple shield as I've got really flst nipples so she can't latch well, and she bites 😭 so I'm sticking to expressing 6-7 times a day and feeding via bottle, but it means that DH, my parents etc can help too. We were told last week we could try moving to 4 hourly feeds so we are up at 2am and 6am which isn't so bad. They told us too as long as weight gain is constant it's all good. I read that your milk supply stabilises anywhere up to 8 weeks but your body will be producing based on how often you breastfeed so try not to worry. Xx

Sillysocks998 · 19/09/2021 08:30

Morning @Kirky658 ebm.... Of course lol.
Well last night we gave 90 mls at 1130pm and 2am and now I'm BF at 8am! We were all asleep😳😳😬😬! Some days there is a 4 to 5 HR feed gap. I always offer boob first unless I'm so sore. I am trying to eat as much as possible & the right foods. Has Alice started cooing etc? Smiling at you?
