@Rach921 Although it sounds long, being able to use the pool in the MLU sounds lovely! I have to say, the mess is what put me off a home birth... this time round, the room looked like a murder scene as I lost 1/2 a litre of blood... our house would never have survived!
Plus, we have a 35 minute drive to the hospital and my MIL (ex midwife) said to me, just imagine transferring in an emergency... the drive is bad enough in early active labour!

I hope you get home and get some rest soon :)

Good luck with the induction @Tinydancer321, Zach was estimated 9lb 12oz at 40 weeks but was 9lb 7oz when he was born 41+2 so they can be a bit out with the estimations, I heard it can be2lb either way.
Congratulations @Holly91 and @Rach921

@SillyBry Can 100% confirm that transferring to hospital in the back of an ambulance, fighting the urge to push after 35 hrs of labour including an hour of pushing, is ABSOLUTELY as horrendous as it sounds!

BUT... I'll definitely be home birthing again if there's a next time. Didn't put me off in the slightest!

Sounds very similar @LauEli - honestly once the spinal was in, the theatre experience was actually so positive, everyone was lovely!

Hope those of you yet to meet your babies aren't kept waiting too much longer! (Even though they're soooooo worth it)

@Scotti84 The decision to have a homebirth was definitely the best decision we ever made. The care we received was absolutely fantastic and being in our own home was wonderful for both me and DH. Of course, I did have tiny niggles of doubt creep in at the back of my mind, but hypnobirthing gave me so much confidence that my body knew what is was doing. It was still hard, but I would absolutely recommend x

Scotti84 · 09/10/2021 04:12

@bluemagicalsky I think my main worry is that with Lilly the cord was wrapped round her neck so she wouldn't move down the birth canal and it got pretty iffy to the end, she needed to get out immediately as she was in distress. It was only because the consultant was still there and he used suction that we avoided a section and the nurses told me afterwards that a section would have been risky too due to the time it would take to prep. If I was at home and that had happened I think without the dr being there and the suction equipment it would have been a different outcome, and the thought of that scares the hell out of me.

@KHR1 hello, thank you!
Had bubba Monday evening, the day before due date so got my home water birth!
Was such a wonderful birth and went perfectly, she did poo in her waters luckily when my waters went they were clear and the time between waters breaking and her being born was so short they were not worried.
All that that she was a large baby she was nearly 2 weeks late and weighed 8lb!

Tinydancer321 · 09/10/2021 18:46

@bluemagicalsky totally agree about the home birth. Was so much more relaxing. Like you I had worried but once I heard baby heart beat I felt in more confident and in control.
My dd had a short cord, they thought it was round her neck but was round her shoulder.

bluemagicalsky · 10/10/2021 10:51

@Scotti84 Completely understand your concerns. If you have another one, definitely speak to your midwife about it. Mine really reassured me. They also look out for certain things for early transfer so it doesn't get to an emergency situation and carry a lot of equipment to deal with situations if they do arise.

bluemagicalsky · 10/10/2021 10:53

Congratulations @Tinydancer321 🥳 So great to hear you had a wonderful home water birth 👶🏼

Suma2021 · 10/10/2021 15:33

Just popping in to say baby Robert finally decided to make a move at 42+5 and was born 1:07am on 10/10. Weighing a wee 7lbs!
MLU closed and ended up on the CLU labour ward but it was actually lovely and still got a pool. Everything very calm until 10cm dilated when things got a bit dramatic, I was pushing for over an hour, eventually rushed into theater for a spinal, forceps delivery with episiotomy. However baby born safe and well and no signs of distress, and I've got no regrets about what happened- spinal anaesthetic was THE best thing ever Grin Enjoy your beautiful babies everyone! Xx

MrsTD88 · 10/10/2021 17:48

@Suma2021 congratulations!! Hope you're recovering well X

KHR1 · 10/10/2021 20:11

Congratulations @Suma2021!

SP2Bx · 11/10/2021 19:05

Congratulations @Suma2021 ! 💙 Your ending sounds the same as mine, and even after 36hrs of labour I was all smiles once that spinal kicked in 😂👌🏼

ye11ow · 10/11/2021 09:13

Hi all, I am in the August 2021 babies Facebook group but my little one didn’t make an appearance until 08.09, so I searched for a September thread so the posts etc are a little more accurate to my little one. Could I please be added into the Facebook group if possible? Thanks in advance x

Bubbles1st · 12/11/2021 06:41
