Morning.
Im new on here but could I just ask a question please. My consultant has booked me for a sweep on friday with my midwife then if that fails im booked in for induction on Monday (im terrified of being induced so shes said have a sweep to hopefully get things going) she said I can call my community midwife tomorrow and ask them if they will give me one on maybe Tuesday. So I’m just wandering, if they agree to give me one where will it take place? Will they invite me to where ever they are? I usually see my midwife at my surgery but thats on fridays and thats the day ive already been booked one?

Thanks xx

leftitlate37 · 12/09/2021 10:09

wahoo! congrats @SillyBry amazing news! wow that seems quick>! so glad u managed to avoid stitches! Love the name Rosie :)
Congrast also @MrsMcNtobe and @primhutch - fab news!
@MrsMcNtobe sorry you had a not so straightforward experience - hope u recover well.
So exciting with the all the arrivals!!

SillyBry · 12/09/2021 10:34

@Jennysmalls hey, I had a sweep on Friday. It was just at the drs surgery by the midwife. (It’s literally an internal examination with some hand twirling 🤦🏼‍♀️😱🤣).
They said I would be offered 3 sweeps ahead of induction, but like to get the induction booked in pretty quickly so you have the space held.

Good luck - the first sweep worked for me. Baby came the next day. But it’s pretty useful as it at least know what stage you’re at… if your cervix is preparing, open etc!

Jennysmalls · 12/09/2021 10:41

Thanks for the reply 😊
I think i worded it wrong, i dont even think my last post makes sense tbh 🤣🙈 I’ll try again -
I have a sweep booked for friday at my surgery, but my consultant has said to ring the community midwife tomorrow and ask can i have one before fridays one. BUT my midwife is only in my surgery on fridays, (im asking to get one before then) so would i be offered another one elsewhere?

Congratulations 🎉 glad your sweep worked. Im praying mine does xx

FTEngineerM · 12/09/2021 11:39

Congratulations @MrsMcNtobe @primhutch @SillyBry 😍🥳

Due date today aaaaaaaand absolutely no movement 😭, DP did remind me this morning though that the whole day leading up to labour last time felt like a normal day so stay hopeful.

CobleCloud · 12/09/2021 12:08

Congratulations to all the new arrivals! 🥰

Due date tomorrow and still no obvious signs.. although I'm feeling really lethargic today and have felt nauseous since 5am, the last few days I've had more period like pain but nothing consisted.. could it be a sign? 🤨

Taybz · 12/09/2021 14:12

Congratulations @SillyBry! Glad that sweep worked well and you had a good birth ultimately with no tears. Us women sure are soldiers 💪! Enjoy and rest xx

Taybz · 12/09/2021 14:13

@FTEngineerM it's almost my due date and I'm dreading being overdue! Have you had a sweep? I'm considering calling my midwife tomorrow to ask for one but not sure if they'll give in as I'm booked for an induction at week 41!

FTEngineerM · 12/09/2021 14:21

Not yet @Taybz but I have an appointment Thursday 40+4 and she said she’ll do one, I think I’ll deffo get one. I don’t want to be going much over that.

SP2Bx · 12/09/2021 19:20

@Taybz If you're booked in for an induction at 41 then I'd definitely be asking to try a sweep or 2 before then to see if you can avoid it if you can! It's not like you're asking too soon or anything so don't see why they wouldn't?

LauEli · 12/09/2021 21:46

Congratulations to new babies 😁 they really are coming thick and fast now!

Give or take 18 days to go for me 😩😂

RadDarwazeh · 12/09/2021 22:13

@LauEli I'm due 25th so similar to you. But I'm also trying to mentally prepare that realistically could be any time from now !

MrsTD88 · 12/09/2021 22:46

@MrsMcNtobe @primhutch @SillyBry congratulations to you all

@Jennysmalls do you know where your community midwives are based? Mine are based at the hospital so I have to go up there for any appointments that our out with the GP surgery. Mine are only there every second Friday. I had to go up to see them at the hospital yesterday for some final checks before my pre-op on 17th.

LauEli · 13/09/2021 07:24

@RadDarwazeh feels like forever away doesn't it 😂

marshmallowmode · 13/09/2021 12:39

Anyone else getting super frustrated with the physical limitations of late pregnancy? I'm 38 weeks and on maternity leave at last. I really want to clean and sort things but I get so exhausted so quickly, can't lift anything remotely heavy and my feet start hurting within an hour of being on my feet. It's driving me mad, I hate sitting still when there's stuff to do!

Newmum110 · 13/09/2021 12:46

Does anyone else have high blood pressure? I've been put on tablets for it but worried about the effect it may have on the baby. Due tomorrow but they have said I'll be let go 10 days over. Wish I just had the baby in my arms, hard to know it's ok in there!!!!

Hopefulmummie · 13/09/2021 13:56

@Newmum110 I have high blood pressure.. Only found out at growth scan last week and they were going to induce me there and then only checked again and was back down so sent home with my own blood pressure machine to monitor it.. Ended up back at admissions twice and they just gave me labetalol which I finished last night so will have to see if it goes back up

My due date is Thursday and I'm back on hospital on Wednesday for a sweep hopefully.
Are you going to get a sweep?

Mamabearwhere · 13/09/2021 14:12

Hi ladies. Just been for my second sweep following my first one on Thursday. Really hoping for something to kick start soon! I’m due Friday

D0nut · 13/09/2021 14:21

Hi @Newmum110 I have high blood pressure and I’m also on labetelol since 2 weeks ago. I’m on a very low dose (50mg 3 times per day) and to be honest I think they may have also calmed my nerves. I was worried at first too but seem to be ok. I’m 38 weeks and 2 days. Hope that might reassure you a little.

Newmum110 · 13/09/2021 14:33

Great to hear of others in the same boat, was just afraid that it could be something sinister unknown to me but I guess it's more common than I realised. They don't do sweeps where I am & apparently I'm not suitable for induction yet due to closed cervix.

Tokyo87 · 13/09/2021 15:14

Haven't been keeping up on here for a while and can't believe how many beautiful babies we now have! Congratulations to all you new mummies 🥰 some lovely names too!

@marshmallowmode I can totally relate to this, second week of mat leave, im 38+3 and got upset last week as just couldn't get on and do my jobs I wanted to! I either felt too tired, needed to wee every 2 minutes or my feet were hurting! I'm trying to be more relaxed this week, and just think I can do what I can do.

marshmallowmode · 13/09/2021 15:40

@Tokyo87 ah I'm glad it's not just me. That's the attitude I'm trying hard to get at the moment, chances are there will be plenty of time to get all my jobs done! I'm a busy person generally and not very good at sitting still and being chill 😂.

crobo87 · 13/09/2021 18:40

@Newmum110 I had high blood pressure from 28 weeks and took labetalol until I had Oscar last week.
I'm still on medication (a different one now) as mine hasn't gone back down but mine wasn't great throughout the whole pregnancy x

Newmum110 · 13/09/2021 20:19

@crobo87 do you mind me asking if you needed to have a c section on account of the high blood pressure. Meeting consultant tomorrow so I have a lot of questions but reading online information has me confused about this.

Kirky658 · 13/09/2021 20:20

@newmum110 I was very very unfortunate and had pre eclampsia so my little girl was born at 25 weeks. But it is good they've got you on meds. They will not harm the baby, the labetalol.x
