@Kirky658 Oh good that sounds positive, the quicker they start the quicker you can hopefully start feeling better❤️. You will be fine on Monday, you’ve already come this far I remember the feeling well, I was petrified

Taybz · 10/09/2021 19:22

@Mamabearwhere nothing yet here too. I've been having a few false alarms but no real progress. I called my community midwife about the bleeding from nurse talons and she was shocked. Still bleeding but not as much. Note to self: check the nails if any midwife doing an internal!

Mamabearwhere · 10/09/2021 20:23

@Taybz glad to hear the bleeding is less. Fingers crossed for labour starting soon. I’m about to attempt a very long walk to hopefully start something. I’ve also been doing labour inducing yoga all day but baby boy seems happy in there and no rush to leave.

@unicornpower oh hun I completely understand how frustrating it is!!! I don’t think I’ll ever go down the induction route again after my last week of absolute hell. I didn’t really enjoy my C-section either but tbh it was probably because I had been left so stressed from the last few days.

LauEli · 10/09/2021 20:53

@Taybz actually think it's horrifying a midwife even has or is allowed to practice with acrylics. Deffo not uniform policy. I'd be making a complaint, especially since you've bled since she did your internal. Not on that isn't.

LittleCatDog · 10/09/2021 21:25

@Taybz Shock just read your update about the talons! Awful! You really just would not expect that?!

Taybz · 10/09/2021 21:31

@LittleCatDog @LauEli it was quite shocking but I only noticed after the examination and didn't say anything then so totally blame myself. She was really friendly and I guess that maybe why I'm hesitant to complain - I need to be braver!
How's baby coming along now? Mine does not want to leave his nest!

SillyBry · 10/09/2021 21:35

@Taybz if it helps, my midwife didn’t have talons and my sweep was really painful today!!! I’ve been losing mucus plug since, which is quite bloody?

LittleCatDog · 10/09/2021 21:45

@Taybz I would feel awkward complaining too I'm rubbish at speaking up with stuff like that! Surely they must know they can't have nails like that in that kind of job Confused crazy! I've been woken up at 5am for the last few mornings with lots of back/leg/BH pains but they die down after 30 mins. Feeling very big and fed up right now, the fan is my best friend! I was induced with my first so really want a spontaneous one this time. How are you feeling?

unicornpower · 10/09/2021 22:00

@MrsMcNtobe I’m so sorry you had such a stressful experience too! It really is awful isn’t it! I was so full of optimism which was very silly of me lol I think the hardest thing is just pacing the ward. I’ve managed to stay active up until now and I can imagine I will mentally suffer from not being allowed out! I really need to manage my expectations a little! Did you have the pessary? I’m going to ask to speak to consultant tomorrow if we are no further forward as the pessary has to come out at 10.30 tonight so not sure what happens after that? The midwife said she’ll examine me and then we’ll go from there. I suppose I’m just a bit confused as to when we will discuss other options 😰

MrsMcNtobe · 10/09/2021 22:06

@unicornpower I had the three doses of gel inserted 6 hours apart and they didn’t work so they took a 24 hour break and repeated the process (couldn’t leave hosp).
I was told Wednesday it could be a 24 hour wait for a space on the labour ward and then told another 24 hours yesterday so I buzzed the midwife on duty and basically said this was affecting me mentally and that I hadn’t eaten properly since last Sunday day (no lie, hospital food is awful and the stress wasn’t helping) I told them they made it sound like induction was an urgent thing and really it wasn’t and if I wasn’t taken soon I’d be leaving and within 3 hours they somehow had me a bed in the labour suite.

I thought if you had the pessary and it fell out that was a good sign that it had done it’s job and opened the cervix? You should be able to ask for the doctor on shift even at this time and ask if they can examine you or else ask if the midwife can do it ASAP

unicornpower · 10/09/2021 23:05

@MrsMcNtobe sorry I meant it’s been in the max amount of time it can be so I’m waiting for the midwife to come and take it out. My cervix was still fully closed at 2pm.

Yes that’s exactly how I feel! They make it sound like it’s such an urgent thing for baby and then they take their sweet time. The midwife yesterday asked me why I was being induced?! Like surely she can read my notes. I haven’t noticed they’re particularly busy either! Post natal is so quiet at the moment. Yes, hospital food is vile, it’s just soul destroying being on this ward constantly. I’m sorry you had such a rubbish time! I hope that you’re doing okay now and soon it’ll all be a distant memory! X

Hi everyone.

Finally my little girl Millie entered the world at 12.53 on 10/09 at 41+2. I had sweep number 2 on Thursday at 10.30 and labour started at 3.30am.

Mild contractions at home at first, however mixed with bouts of sickness which was really unpleasant. Lasted until 9.30am and then came hospital - contractions were 3 mins apart for about 40 seconds. I was so happy to already be 5cm dilated with a 'paper thin' cervix!! After a couple of hours in the birthing pool I asked to be checked as was really struggling on gas and air - was 9cm and she was on her way. 10 mins of pushing later and she arrived.

9 days past due date, she weighed in at 8lb 4.

Best of luck to all the ladies still waiting - it's worth it xxx

AdventuresAwait · 11/09/2021 01:18

Congratulations @primhutch and welcome Millie! Xx

Poppins2016 · 11/09/2021 02:37

So many babies arriving, how exciting!

I've been having painless but fairly consistent tightenings for the last 12 hours... also had a few the night before. I guess this is latent labour but finding it very odd as this didn't happen with my first! At least there's no pain and I can sleep (when my mind will let me)!

SP2Bx · 11/09/2021 14:24

Congratulations @primhutch ! 💕

Hope you've had some answers today @unicornpower and have a bit of a plan to keep you sane! xx

Squibble84 · 11/09/2021 19:19

Congratulations @primhutch! Hope you’re both doing well! Xx

Taybz · 11/09/2021 19:31

@MrsMcNtobe @unicornpower sorry you've been having a rough time. Hopefully not much longer for both of you!

@SillyBry losing the mucus plug is a great leap forward isn't it? When are you due?

@LittleCatDog I could have written everything you wrote myself! I just want my little one in my arms! He clearly doesn't want to come though. I'm now considering a sweep but they won't give me one until week 41!

Taybz · 11/09/2021 19:32

Congratulations @primhutch! Hope you and your little one are well! X

KHR1 · 11/09/2021 20:33

@unicornpower @MrsMcNtobe it's horrible you are both still waiting, can't believe they let people hang around so long when being induced. Most people are induced for a reason so you'd think there would be more of a sense of urgency with it. Really hope you both get to meet your little bundles of joy very very soon

MrsMcNtobe · 11/09/2021 20:35

@Taybz @KHR1 hey ladies sorry I fell of the earth. I had a horrific time with the labour drip that ended in an emergency section. My baby girl Niamh was born at 01:52 am on Friday morning. 7lb 3oz. We got discharged today so I’m just trying to find my feet xx

KHR1 · 11/09/2021 21:08

@MrsMcNtobe congratulations, glad you've finally got to meet your little girl, sorry that you didn't have the most pleasant experience though

AdventuresAwait · 11/09/2021 21:53

Congratulations @MrsMcNtobe and welcome Niamh xx

Taybz · 11/09/2021 23:48

@MrsMcNtobe sorry to hear you had a difficult time but congratulations on the birth! Hope you get some well deserved rest and lots of lovely cuddles! X

SillyBry · 12/09/2021 09:40

@MrsMcNtobe @primhutch congratulations to both of you! Hope you’re doing well recovering!

After my sweep on Friday, I started getting contractions at midnight… by 7am, they were pretty serious, so my mum came round to collect Naomi (our daughter)… got given a room at 9am in the labour ward as the birthing centre was full. (But the rooms are pretty identical and at that point, I didn’t give a damn!)
Contractions were relentless and intense… my waters finally burst at around 11am and baby Rosie was born at 12.03pm with a lot of swearing, crying and “I can’t do it”! I really struggled when she was crowning… just couldn’t shift her and then got upset/panicked on the gas and air… but thankfully, all was fine.
They told me that actually, pushing her out slower (although bloody agonising), saved me from stitches etc.
She was 8lb 12oz and we were discharged home at 4pm.
Got no sleep last night, but quite smitten!
