@unicornpower hope they get you in quickly! The finally put extra staff on the labour ward yesterday so managed to move 3 of us off induction and bring some new people in

@MrsMcNtobe really hope you get your waters popped soon, we waited about 30 hours after being ready for it to be done.

Baby Zach was born at 2.01am this morning after my waters were popped at 9.30 last night. He arrived much quicker than we expected and weighed 9lb 7oz

SP2Bx · 09/09/2021 09:40

Ah congratulations @KHR1 ! 💙

@Hopefulmummie That does sound like a rollercoaster of a day, and must have been very disheartening. However, I hope your blood pressure stays under control and it isn't anything more sinister as that wouldn't be fun either. Sending hugs x

Fingers crossed for you @primhutch !!! 🤞🏼

And happy mat leave @RadDarwazeh , sounds like a lovely first day you have planned ☺️ I turned 38 weeks yesterday and zero sign of anything happening yet, baby seems very comfy in there! I had an antenatal appointment last week when I transferred to the home birth team so not being seen again until next week now either, but I guess it's a fun guessing game!

primhutch · 09/09/2021 09:47

Congratulations @KHR1 💙

CobleCloud · 09/09/2021 09:49

@KHR1 congratulations on your new arrival.

@MrsMcNtobe and @unicornpower hope things get moving for you today.. and all those other ladies waiting to be induced at home or in hospital.. seems to be lots going on at the moment by baby brain is struggling to keep up.

I'm still waiting for something to start.. 39+3 today and no signs just some niggles & pains which then disappear.

Mamabearwhere · 09/09/2021 09:52

Hi ladies how are you all doing?
I just had a midwife appointment, I’m 39 weeks tomorrow. She gave me a sweep and said my cervix was VERY soft and gave me a bishops score of 6 which is great. Anyone else had a sweep yet and had any progress? Really hoping something starts soon!

Congratulations @KHR1 and welcome baby Zach xx

@leftitlate37, I had forgotten about the new thread, thanks for the reminder!

FTEngineerM · 09/09/2021 10:07

Congratulations @khr1 lovely name!

FTEngineerM · 09/09/2021 11:11

Does anyone else feel the baby’s hiccups in the butt because they’re so low 😭🥺 it’s such a weird feeling.

Mamabearwhere · 09/09/2021 11:19

@FTEngineerM YES!! thought it was just me. I’ve been feeling them lots, such an odd sensation!

I'm a little confused about sweeps - my consultant has said I can have them from 39 weeks but my midwife has made an appointment for 41 weeks for this only if I don't give birth beforehand. I'm currently 39+2. Can you elect to have a sweep? Also, how does the pain compare to an internal? I had an internal and it was absolute agony and I bled quite a bit- mind you I was shocked the midwife had fairly long acrylic nails on! I hope this is not normal.

Taybz · 09/09/2021 11:32

@KHR1 congrats, love the name! 💙

Mamabearwhere · 09/09/2021 11:39

@Taybz mine wasn’t painful but it was uncomfortable and a bit rough as she does need to rummage around in there. I turn 39 weeks tomorrow and I just asked her if I could have one and she said yes. She also has booked me for another one on Monday when i will be 39+ 3 if I haven’t gone into labour. I think maybe each trust has their own rules on when to offer a sweep and depends if your low risk or consultant led etc

My back has been in agony since she did it though so not sure if it’s related and I did have some bleeding which she reassured was normal

FTEngineerM · 09/09/2021 12:00

@Taybz I’d definitely decline if they had long acrylics, they use their finger tips to try separating the sack from the cervix. Can you call your community midwife and ask for one, say you’re done or whatever and want to try everything possible.

CobleCloud · 09/09/2021 12:23

@Taybz yes I think it depends per trust but I would ask your midwife for one, my consultant recommended I had one at 38 and 39 weeks had my second yesterday! My community midwife did them and both times my cervix is still a bit high but she took a look and said she wouldn't attempt anything unless she could tell I was ready! She did manage to feel his head super low though.

Think my consultant agreed for me to have them as I have said I don't want to be induced so they suggesting trying so baby comes naturally but no sign yet!

I also wouldn't let anyone do it in acrylic nails that does not sound pleasant at all.

primhutch · 09/09/2021 12:47

Just got back from my second sweep, still have a score of 3, only dilated 1cm 😭 cervix medium. Sweep didn't hurt as much as the first one - different midwife - which has convinced me it's not going to work!

Booked in for induction on Sunday (41+4) I asked about how busy they are and she said they were fine, just normal September busy but plenty of staff to deal with it which made me feel a bit better after some of your guys stories.

Anyone else a bit worried about a 9/11 birthday 🙈

ame88 · 09/09/2021 13:09

Baby Lily born on the 6th September 05.16am (41+2) weighing a whopping 10lb 14oz. We are besotted!

@ame88 aw congratulations, lily is beautiful! What a weight! How was labour? X

AdventuresAwait · 09/09/2021 13:27

Congratulations @ame88 and welcome Lily! Xx

MrsTD88 · 09/09/2021 13:33

Congratulations @KHR1 💙 and @ame88 💖

SillyBry · 09/09/2021 14:24

@KHR1 congratulations! That’s fabulous news, well done! 😁

@Mamabearwhere hope the sweep works! I’ve got my first sweep tomorrow at 40+3… I’ll be glad to know what stage I’m at down there at the least!

RadDarwazeh · 09/09/2021 15:00

Ladies I like hearing your sweep stories, keep them coming. My midwife said the first one is unlikely to work for a first time mama? Seems it's different everywhere when the sweep is offered.

I have lower pelvis pain / back and low butt pain lately but can't tell if it's coz baby or coz I'm sitting down a lot oops!

Taybz · 09/09/2021 15:31

@Mamabearwhere has your bleeding subsided from the internal? Mine hasn't yet completely and just wondering if the midwife did some damage with her talons.

@FTEngineerM @CobleCloud thanks for the advice - mine was done at the hospital in triage - I didn't even know the community midwives did them. I'll give them a ring if baby doesn't come by tomorrow! My bump is getting huge now!

Mamabearwhere · 09/09/2021 15:44

@Taybz the bleeding has already stopped, mine said it could go on for 24 hours but not more than that. When did you have yours?

Squibble84 · 09/09/2021 16:04

Congratulations @KHR1 and @ame88!

Taybz · 09/09/2021 18:42

@Mamabearwhere I had mine yesterday afternoon. I expected it to have gone by now. It's not a lot but I'm just getting worried now.
