Congratulations @Joey86 it sounds like you had such a long lead up glad you got home so quickly too!

That sounds really stressful about hospitals being so busy!

steph246 · 05/09/2021 17:53

Hi everyone!
I have just found this thread can't believe it!
I'm a FTM 37 weeks today, due on the 26th September.
Congratulations to everyone it's so very exciting!
Also so very unknown every ache or pain I think oh goodness is this the start 🙈.
How's everyone doing and feeling? X

KHR1 · 05/09/2021 18:22

Thanks @unicornpower

The midwives here have been saying the hospital's around have been really busy, think September is supposed to be the busiest month

SillyBry · 05/09/2021 20:19

@steph246 That is exactly how I'm feeling right now... I'm 39+5 and every back ache or stomach tightening, I'm like oh crap, is it beginning?!
I think I just need to chill out and remember that aches and pains are standard at this stage!! ;-)

MrsMcNtobe · 05/09/2021 20:20

@KHR1 everything is quiet here at the moment (touch wood) they have said it can suddenly go crazy though. I had first pessary around half 5 and my stomach has been rock solid since, not sure if that means anything.
Have you heard anything about going in yet?

LauEli · 05/09/2021 20:24

Evening ladies, can anyone shed any light?

I had a scan Wednesday, and my waters have gone from 5.6cm to 2.3cm which led to me having a rom (?) test, a swab to check membranes not leaking. Which was negative. The doctor didn't seem concerned but did reiterate if I had concerns to go back. So I've stewed all weekend and googled 😑 obviously lack of water has its dangers.

I'm 36+3 today, see consultant on Tuesday... So my question,

Has anyone asked for early induction and it been accepted? As I'm literally quite worried, having already had one child born in meconium (which can be a risk with decreased water)

Stressed 😔

KHR1 · 05/09/2021 20:55

@MrsMcNtobe hopefully that's a good sign that something is happening! I got moved to labour ward for more monitoring, baby's heart rate is okay now but I've been put on medication for high blood pressure. They are going to see if they can break my waters in a bit but if not I've got to go to the antenatal ward until there is a bed on the induction suite for a pessary.

@LauEli sorry I don't have any advice but hope the consultant helps on Tuesday and accepts early induction if you want it

steph246 · 05/09/2021 23:14

@SillyBry it's so crazy but wonderful!
Our bodies are just getting ready 😂🙏🏼

MrsMcNtobe · 06/09/2021 05:20

@KHR1 I had a second lot of gel added at 1am and it was quite painful but I’m not sure if that’s because of the second examination. Asked if there was anything I could do to help myself and she said because of the time no but usually birthing ball or walking, tbh time didn’t bother me I’d rather have been on the ball than tossing and turning!

KHR1 · 06/09/2021 06:08

@MrsMcNtobe found walking and the ball really helpful last time I was induced, definitely think it speeds things up! Are you allowed to walk round with covid? When i was looking at my trusts stuff online it sounds like they aren't letting women out of the ward here.

MrsMcNtobe · 06/09/2021 06:17

@KHR1 oh that’s a good point about getting out the ward, I’m not actually sure. Being on the ball would be fine. Do you know if contractions/tightenings could feel like trapped wind? 🙈 I’ve been getting them on and off and I’m just not 100% if it’s sporadic contractions

crobo87 · 06/09/2021 07:12

Apologies for radio silence....Oscar was born on Friday 3rd at 23:06 via emergency section at 36+6 weeks.
All a bit rushed, I was already in hospital. Unfortunately dad missed him being born but all is well. He spent 2 nights in NICU but is back with me and doing really well

primhutch · 06/09/2021 08:00

Congratulations @crobo87 he is gorgeous! Sounds like you've had a bit of a time of it x

I'm 40+5 today and just lost my mucus plug, 🤞🏻 this is the start of something

D0nut · 06/09/2021 08:06

Congratulations @crobo87!! How are you feeling? Hope you’re doing ok

LauEli · 06/09/2021 08:21

Congratulations @crobo87 hope your both doing well!

Mamabearwhere · 06/09/2021 08:31

Hi ladies have any of you had on/off contractions that just suddenly went away? I was up from 3-5 last night with very mild contractions every 10-15 minutes lasting for 45-50 seconds. Went on for 2 hours then just suddenly went away! I was so excited it was the start of something but looks like not. Anyone had that either this pregnancy or previous? Can I do anything to bring them back !?

Congratulations @crobo87 hope you're all doing ok and feeling ok! Lovely photo 💙

@primhutch snap, I think I lost part of my plug yesterday hope it's the beginning for both of us!

MrsMcNtobe · 06/09/2021 09:18

@Mamabearwhere literally had this this morning and I’ve been trying to get them to come back 😂

MrsTD88 · 06/09/2021 10:17

Congratulations @Joey86 & @crobo87

@D0nut I'm feeling quite apprehensive today now it's only two weeks away! I'm hoping she stays put until then but being having a lot of niggles the past few days. Hoping it's just because we've been busy organising things at home. Do you have to do a Covid test before? My husband and I both have to do one at my pre-op on 17th

Squibble84 · 06/09/2021 10:40

Leo Cillian was born yesterday evening weighing 7Ib 11oz, the exact same as his big sister! Unfortunately my vbac failed and it ended up in another emergency section, my body just doesn’t seem to ever be able to get to the pushing stage!

He’s doing really well though and feeding like a trooper, hoping to be discharged this evening.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Squibble84 · 06/09/2021 10:43

And congratulations @Joey86 and @crobo87 hope you’re both doing well! Xxx

CobleCloud · 06/09/2021 10:56

Congratulations to all the newest arrivals! 🥰 just catching up from over the weekend.

Hope everyone is doing well! I've been having a few niggles I think..39 weeks today and hoping something happens soon, haven't had a show or waters etc but had period like pains and what I think are contractions that seem to have disappeared like others have said.

To top everything off, we finally completed on our new house sale on Friday- just knew everything would come at once so my partner and dad are frantically decorating.

Good luck to all those ladies with inductions, sections this week x

D0nut · 06/09/2021 11:30

Congratulations @Squibble84!

@MrsTD88 yes I have to do a covid test at my pre-op on the 17th too. I’m not sure about my partner. I know he has to do one but not sure when/how. I have a blood pressure clinic appointment today which will include a growth scan… my right foot is pretty swollen too so I’m feeling nervous!

primhutch · 06/09/2021 11:52

Aw congratulations @Squibble84

Did you manage to get in at your hospital in the end? X

SillyBry · 06/09/2021 13:52

@Mamabearwhere I had this with my first pregnancy… had contractions through the night, getting to every 6 minutes… but then they went away for most of the day - just coming at odd times… and then they ramped up again that evening before going to hospital in the middle of the night.

Good luck!!
