@Joey86 blooming heck I'll stop whinging now 😂😂
Fingers crossed for you xx

KHR1 · 04/09/2021 16:49

@primhutch they don't usually induce until 10 days over here but my consultant is doing it early as baby is measuring huge and I have high blood pressure. With DC1 I had to wait the 10 days

Squibble84 · 04/09/2021 17:08

Good luck @Joey86!

I started having contractions early this morning - still early stages, about ten minutes apart and not lasting long but when I rang my hospital, they said that they’re at capacity and I’ll have to go to another hospital which will probably be about an hours drive as opposed to ten minutes! 😫

Hopefulmummie · 04/09/2021 17:19

Has anyone any advice about reduced movement at this stage? I'm 38+2 and the last few days she definitely hasn't been moving as much.. I can still feel her but it's more pressure I can feel instead of normal jerky movements.. Wondering is it worth ringing admissions

Mamabearwhere · 04/09/2021 17:36

@Hopefulmummie I’m in the exact same situation. 38+1 and he’s definitely less jerky and more slow motion movements. I did mention to my midwife last Wednesday and she said it’s normal as he’s bigger now and has less space to roll around. I do get random spells of jerky moves but not like how it used to be. He gets lots of hiccups and I feel those

@Squibble84 oh no - that's the last thing you need!! Didn't even think about the hospital not having room. I've heard the drive is awful too and every bump in the road painful 😣 maybe go a bit earlier if you're going to have an hour of that!! Good luck hope it all goes well 🤞🏻

Squibble84 · 04/09/2021 18:17

I know she said it’s because they are short staffed due to staff having to isolate! I don’t even know how to get to the other hospital so we’ll be putting it in the sat nav when we go! 😫

Bubbles1st · 04/09/2021 18:45

We brought Lorenzo home today ! It was touch and go and a couple of the staff were really surprised they were letting us home but obviously my boy is a super star and they trust his mummy can feed him well!

We are so happy it feels amazing to be home, to see my dogs, already day had the best hours sleep I've had all week in my own bed and incredible shower!

Today is officially a great day.

Good luck to all those with things happening! I can't wait for everyone to have their babies and feel this way.

@Bubbles1st Aww he's gorgeous! 💙 glad you got to go home today- enjoy. Good luck everyone in labour or waiting patiently!

SillyBry · 04/09/2021 20:19

@Squibble84 at least you know now, not when you need to go!
My advice would be to take a pillow for the journey. Our hospital is 40 mins away and when I had my daughter, the road was closed so we had to take diversions. I buried my head in the pillow for most of the journey.
The midwives will try and delay you going in saying “can you do another hour from home?” Don’t be afraid fo say “it’s a really long journey - I want to travel now”. I did and they said I may get turned away, but I was 4cm when admitted so they let me in!

MrsMcNtobe · 04/09/2021 20:24

@Hopefulmummie I noticed reduced movements on Thursday (38+2) and got monitored, I had also been monitored at 32 weeks because she was quiet one night but on Thursday they referred me for a growth scan for yesterday which showed all was ok, I did mention I’m still not 100% happy with movements so they monitored again and recommended induction partly for my own sanity as another 1-2 weeks sitting worrying would be a nightmare.
They booked me in for 20 minutes monitoring this morning and I’ve had slight movements but nothing compared to what I’m used to so I’m being induced tomorrow. Really not the route I wanted to go down but for some reason my movements have reduced, possibly lack of space for baby? But always better to get checked xxx

GWhiteley · 05/09/2021 01:43

@MrsMcNtobe good luck for your induction, I hope it goes smoothly for you & there's nothing to worry about. Will be thinking of you

Hopefulmummie · 05/09/2021 07:46

@mamabearwhere
@MrsMcNtobe

Thank you. I'm not overly concerned as can definitely still feel her moving but just seems to be different kind of movements and I suppose it's down to them being so big now and not as much space.
I have another growth scan on Wednesday so will mention it then

MrsMcNtobe · 05/09/2021 10:47

@GWhiteley thank you! I’m a bit of an emotional mess this morning, OH had to work (self employed so making the most before taking time off) and I’m just trying to keep myself busy!

GWhiteley · 05/09/2021 12:26

I didn't end up getting to your stage as my contractions started naturally the night before I was due in. But I can imagine you feel like a tight spring at the moment.
What you don't want to do is too much & then be tired when you're due to go in. Try & take it easy

KHR1 · 05/09/2021 12:55

The wait for this induction is hard! I can't sleep worrying I will miss their phone call in the night and don't want to dive into doing anything during the day, just in case. Had another call today to say they are miles behind still and can't give an estimate of how long it could be before I go in. My mum is due to pick up DD now but I don't want to let her go and not be called in for another day or so as we cant get her back because we are supposed to self isolating. Going in for monitoring again this afternoon, will be the 5th time this week and I'm shattered, so ready for baby to be out.

MrsTD88 · 05/09/2021 13:26

@D0nut my c-section is planned for 20th too!

@Momminmiss congratulations! What a gorgeous name 💙

@Bubbles1st great news you both got home!

MrsMcNtobe · 05/09/2021 13:38

@KHR1 thinking of you! The waiting and the trips in for monitoring are both draining. I’m due to go in for 4pm today but also expecting it to be busy so no doubt I’ll have a wait or even sent back home aswell. Hoping you hear ASAP x

Joey86 · 05/09/2021 15:50

Hi all.
Baby Edward was born last night at 11pm.
8lb 7oz
Went into labour while waiting for space to have my waters broken. Hospital so so busy! Had to do most of my labour on a ward! Poor women trying to settle down for the night. I just wanted to get to the delivery suite so I could use gas and air 😩
They broke my waters sometime after 10pm, then he was born at 11pm.
He came out with his hand next to his face, no wonder he wouldn't engage!!
We came home at 7:30 this morning. Exhausted, relieved, and his brothers both want to hold him constantly.
Also, he's feeding well, and has already had a full nappy of menconium and wee, and weed all over me 😅

D0nut · 05/09/2021 16:07

@MrsTD88 c section twins! How are you feeling about it? I’m nervous, glad to have a date finally…. But also hoping she stays put/everything is good until then.

SillyBry · 05/09/2021 16:12

@Joey86 awww yay, congratulations! Such exciting news! Poor you having to labour in the ward! But I’m glad you’re home nice and quickly and baby is feeding well! After the seeming weeks of early labour for you, I bet it’s nice to get your body back a bit!!

Mamabearwhere · 05/09/2021 16:12

@Joey86 congratulations! Glad you’ve managed to get home so soon after birth. Enjoy all the baby snuggles xx

KHR1 · 05/09/2021 16:51

Thanks @MrsMcNtobe hopethey stick to 4pm for you! Been on the monitor an hour and baby's heart rate is high so she is giving me an hour break then going back on again. Luckily brought DH with me today .

Congratulations @Joey86 labouring in the ward sounds like it must have been hard but glad you are home now

unicornpower · 05/09/2021 17:01

@KHR1 that sounds so stressful about your induction! I hope they get you on the list soon, it seems such a big thing to wait for!

My friend went into the hospital we are both having our babies in for monitoring last night and she said it was absolute carnage. Labour ward was full so there were three women all labouring on the same ward she was on, massive backlog of inductions, hardly any staff and the ones she saw had zero patience with her and said she was being hysterical over the situation, the bathroom was filthy and they wouldn’t let her leave. I had a bit of a meltdown as you always hear such horror stories and the thought of going in on Thursday to be induced absolutely terrifies me now. I’m going to call the hospital tomorrow and explain how worried I am and hope they can offer some reassurance that it isn’t always like that Confused a home birth is completely off the table for me and I wish it wasn’t Sad I just know I’m going to be worrying now all week
