Next question, not so personal this time, blood pressure... I think its supposed to be under 140/90 and mine was over that last time but the dr didn't seem concerned, just asked if i was monitoring it which im not and wasn't aware I should be? Should i be worried?

AdventuresAwait · 02/08/2021 09:41

That's good @CherLW xx

I don't really know @Scotti84 but it is good the doctor wasn't concerned. Were both numbers high? Xx

D0nut · 02/08/2021 09:48

Hi @Scotti84 mine is usually high at an appointment and they ask the same. In the end I bought a cheap monitor and check at home now too. It’s normally much lower at home for me. I think it’s the arriving and waiting that makes mine higher at an appointment.

Kirky658 · 02/08/2021 09:49

@scotti84 my BP has always been on the very low side if anything I think due to the aspirin I've been taking. Your midwife should be monitoring it on each visit and keeping an eye on your urine levels to check for signs of pre eclampsia. Not unusual for it to be slightly raised though particularly in the gp surgery x

Kirky658 · 02/08/2021 09:49

I had my first Labour nightmare last night!!!! But suspiciously slept the best I had in ages, I think being away in the caravan for a for a few days is helping to calm me a bit!

Scotti84 · 02/08/2021 10:12

@Kirky658 I don't see a midwife here, it's all done by a gp. They check urine, weight, BP and water retention at every appt, nothing else is showing.

@AdventuresAwait it was 143/95 so not massively over, but with the GD I wonder if that has an influence too? Hopefully at my next appt it will be a bit lower. My mum was in the hospital with high BP for 6 weeks before I was born so wanting to keep an eye on things. Wish Dr's wrote better so i could understand more!

Kirky658 · 02/08/2021 10:15

@scotti84 ah right fair enough. Well long as they're keeping an eye on it can't see why you'd need to too! See your comment about your mum's high BP too, mine was the same, she had me at 35 weeks as she had pre eclampsia hence I'm on aspirin to try and prevent so completely understand your concerns x

crobo87 · 02/08/2021 12:47

@Scotti84 anything over 140/90 is high, I've been in & out of hospital over the last few weeks with high blood pressure.
The only tend to keep me in when the bottom number is over 100 & as long as your urine is fine & not symptoms of pre eclampsia they tend to just keep an eye on it.

I'm in for twice weekly check & weekly bloods but mine is regularly over 100 despite medication 🙈

AdventuresAwait · 02/08/2021 14:21

@Scotti84, I can understand your concern, especially as your Mum was in hospital for a high BP. When is it due to be checked again? Xx

crobo87 · 02/08/2021 14:23

Had my 32 week growth scan today. Baby is still small but continues to follow his own line.
Next scan in 2 weeks.

Consultant said I'm unlikely to go to 40 weeks and should expect to have him between 37&38 weeks.
He's currently still breach with his feet under his bum....really hoping he turns 🤞🏻

Scotti84 · 02/08/2021 14:46

Thanks ladies, @AdventuresAwait on Thursday, so not too long to wait, there was one other high one 150/ something quite early on, but other than that they've been on the higher side but ok... going to have lots of questions at this appt on Thursday! Ive got the birth planning meeting at the hospital on Friday too with the Consultant so I'll ask then as well.

KHR1 · 02/08/2021 18:05

@Scotti84 my BP was regularly over 140/90 in my last pregnancy. They used to check it at the start and end of each appointment and if it didn't improve I'd get sent to the day unit for monitoring for an hour. I've only had it over twice so far this pregnancy and consultant made me stay at the hospital until it was under 140 - she said if it happened a few more times she would look at medicating for it.

Kirky658 · 02/08/2021 18:22

Hey ladies, just a quick one, wondered how active you all were still? DH thought it was a good idea for us to walk a very hilly 5 mile walk today round snowdonia and I'm shattered now 😂 I'm walking maybe 30 miles a week and swimming for an hour a week plus 2 strength sessions. Particularly those of you who are still running, how are you coping? X

Squibble84 · 02/08/2021 18:36

Um barely anything! 😅 I had a brisk walk around town today and that’s about it! Honestly I find just doing all the housework tires me out plus running around after an almost two year old who constantly wants to be picked up (maybe that could count as my strength workout!? 😂🤔 ) That’s sounds like you’re managing a lot of exercise still I’m impressed!

marshmallowmode · 02/08/2021 18:42

I'm just walking the dogs now exercise wise. Half an hour or so in the morning and some evenings round the block. With longer walks on the weekend. They tend to tire themselves out though and I can just stand there and spectate 😂. I've started sticking to flat parks now too as I find any incline makes me very breathless and I get palpitations which isn't fun. Can still walk a fair amount on the flat. I was reasonably fit (walking fit, can't run 10m without dying) before pregnancy so I find it very frustrating not being able to do as much now. I was also doing agility training with my dogs up to 25 weeks which is basically sprinting for 30 seconds but that was starting to become a massive struggle and I definitely couldn't do that now!

Catkin7 · 02/08/2021 18:46

@crobo87
I have missed a few posts, can I ask why you are having growth scans?
I had my 34 week midwife appointment today and am being sent for a growth scan on Thursday as I went from 50th percentile to the 90th. I’m not too worried as personally don’t think I’m that big but who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️
@Kirky658
Practically immobile right now 😂 finding walking up the stairs hard and having a nap at least once a day. Fell asleep in the cinema last week! Anyone else always tired?

Scotti84 · 02/08/2021 18:49

@KHR1 was the birth okay, or did it cause any problems?

@Kirky658 my dad and sister finally made it over last week, we walked a fair bit, but with breaks, mainly due to fanny daggers and general heavy stomach feelings, I'm good for about an hr, then i need a rest, and a day off between, dont know how you fit lot are keeping going!

crobo87 · 02/08/2021 18:49

@Catkin7 because I have low Papp-a which can mean small birth weight. He is measuring small but growing at a good rate so they are happy with his growth so far but it can change quite quickly with low Papp-a.

I also have a high BMI which can mean a bigger baby but he's definitely not measuring big

Kirky658 · 02/08/2021 18:53

I now don't feel as guilty about the days I spend vegging out on the sofa haha 😂❤️

FTEngineerM · 02/08/2021 18:56

Bloody hell @Kirky658 no, I’m practically a potato with the amount of moving I do.

The only exercise is lugging my DC around when he tantrums 😂.

@Catkin7 my fundal height did that at last appointment 50th > 90th and she didn’t send me for a growth scan?! How can trusts be so different? I have my 34 week one this Friday so I will see what she says.

AdventuresAwait · 02/08/2021 19:06

Glad you haven't got too long to wait @Scotti84 and that they've been ok so far. I've got my next growth scan on Thursday. Mixed feelings as I can't wait to see how she's doing but also a bit nervous xx

SP2Bx · 02/08/2021 19:09

Definitely don't feel guilty @Kirky658 ! You must be superwoman... my poor dogs walks are getting slower and shorter by the day 🙈 I'm a full on waddler now and the breathlessness is unreal. I'm in bits today with hip pain too for the first time and I just want to cry 😭 but have my 10yr old niece staying with us to entertain for the week as well!

Catkin7 · 02/08/2021 19:11

@crobo87 ah I see. I hope the scans give you peace of mind. I think that’s what mine will do on Thursday and know for definite she’s the right way round.

@FTEngineerM
My midwife just said she would ask the hospital as it’s not over 90. When she rang they just booked me in straight away without hesitation. She just said it was a big jump for 3 weeks but at the same time didn’t look concerned. I was 34cm at my 34 week appointment so I thought if you measured same as week you were ok. I was 28 at 28 weeks and 31 at 31 weeks so I I don’t really understand it.

KHR1 · 02/08/2021 19:14

@Scotti84 BP didn't seem to cause any issues during labour from what I rememeber, a few things didn't quite go to plan but they weren't linked.
When I was sent to the day unit with high BP at about 38-39 weeks the midwife said they would probably just induce me but they never did as it went down after monitoring.

bewitchingnight · 02/08/2021 19:37

Oh @Kirky658 well done that's loads! I walk for about an hour after dinner every evening (slowly and not very far) I was swimming until a couple of weeks ago but I think I'm done with that until afterwards now!
