@Scotti84 non existent sex scene here, I think we’ve done it once the whole pregnancy. I was way too sick and tired the first 4.5 months, then started feeling too big and uncomfortable. The last few weeks I don’t even want him in bed with me as my bump is so big I just want the whole bed to myself so he’s been in spare room. Luckily my DH is super understanding and as it’s 3rd time we know it’s a phase and will be back to normal in a few months.

In terms of pain relief, I had (and wanted) and epidural with my first. Best decision and no regrets. With second I also wanted one but the labour was all so fast there was no time (2 hours from first twinge to birth) and I just had a couple of puffs of gas and air. This time I really want an epidural (mainly because without it I was a screaming mess which I hated). I have been having some anxiety for how the birth will pan out and what it I need an emergency section. Trying to stay positive etc

Scotti84 · 31/07/2021 21:55

Thank you ladies, i love how i can ask the personal questions and know i'm not alone. My hubby is really understanding, we do do it now and then but its hard to feel like it with all the pain and feeling like a whale trying to find a good position. This pregnancy has been so eye opening! Definitely a learning curve!

Mrsserenalewis · 31/07/2021 22:48

On the talks of sex during third trimester. I know it can be common to bleed after sex. How much is too much. Do you need to call straight away or if it worsens.

Krista1991 · 01/08/2021 03:47

Hey,ladies.

I woke up now at night and felt very weird,period pains,lower back pains,walked around the house and was thinking it’s so close and my little girl could be here any day.
It’s my third baby 😇🥳🤰🏼😊

Good luck to us ☺️

Kirky658 · 01/08/2021 07:18

@scotti84 likewise ❤️
@krista1991 scary isn't it, I had backache a couple of days ago and was like oh crap is this it. But it was just me doing too much as per!

I got complimented on my 'lovely round bump' at the swimming pool yesterday 🤣

RadDarwazeh · 01/08/2021 08:39

Morning all. I wore a black long sleeve top and stripy dungarees yesterday and thought well if you can't look like a children's TV presenter at 6 months pregnant, when can you. I loved it. And got loads of compliments. Bump is looking v rounded now too which is nice 😊 @Kirky658 I also love my bump being complimented 💕

unicornpower · 01/08/2021 08:52

@Scotti84 I think we've had sex about 5 times since I got pregnant tbh haha I was too ill up to about 16 weeks and then my husband isn't keen now we can feel her move loads. She's so wriggly I think it just freaks him out a bit. We are perfectly happy with that though, we know it'll right itself and we will get back to normal at some stage 😀

marshmallowmode · 01/08/2021 10:55

@RadDarwazeh @Kirky658 My bump is very round too, pretty much looks like I've stuffed a football up my top haha. People have being saying it's "neat" since it appeared which I took as a compliment but now had two people this weekend say "it hasn't grown much" and "you're tiny for your dates" so it's now edging into slight paranoia that it's too neat/small!

RadDarwazeh · 01/08/2021 11:06

@marshmallowmode absolutely. I still get this now, people don't believe I'm 6.5 months. However, all bumps are beautiful no matter what. And as long as the midwives are happy, so am I 😊

Gonna start packing my hospital bag next week. I'm v excited for it! Yay 😍

AdventuresAwait · 01/08/2021 12:26

I've just been reading a thread for babies born in July. I hope we will continue sharing on a thread when our babies are here! It would be lovely xx

FTEngineerM · 01/08/2021 12:35

@AdventuresAwait how lush, bet it was all excitement having babies arriving! We could make a thread in the post natal club section once we start having our babies. There’s be loads to talk about no doubt!

Bubbles1st · 01/08/2021 16:10

@RadDarwazeh bump love is so nice!

I'm not sure if anyone else who is on the larger side is the same but as my uterus has moved up and bump is higher and harder the bottom of my bump has returned to almost just a flabby belly 😭

It's like my bump comes to a cliff edge and then drops down, I mean it's perhaps more comfortable than it otherwise might be but it's still slightly disappointing 🤣

@Rach921 @deedeebythesea

Baby has now turned head down, so it's full steam ahead for home birth plans... I met one of the team this morning for the first time!

The home birth team seem to place a lot more trust in letting the mother get on with it in her own way vs the community team who seem to medicalise things more.

I had a good conversation about pain relief (was assured that the supply of gas and air wouldn't run out/that if I did somehow get close to exhausting the supply I'd probably be needing to transfer to hospital anyway due to failure to progress). Discussed meptazinol (I hadn't heard of it; it's a slightly weaker version of pethidine used for home births) but she said she doesn't usually recommend it for second time mothers due to a faster labour being likely and I was happy to agree (last time I got to 9 cm at home with nothing but a tens machine, then used a birth pool plus gas and air at the MLU).

I've managed to source a pool that I can loan from a local home birth group, all I have to do is obtain a new liner and hose.

I'm feeling so relieved and actively looking forward to giving birth now. I hadn't realised how anxious I'd been to avoid the late transfer from home to hospital that I had last time, along with a worry about the hospital team being potentially too 'hands on' for my liking compared to the home birth team. I'm looking forward to being able to relax in my own space, being guaranteed a pool and being "left alone" to get on with it.

@Kirky658 Everyone's different, but I would say you're not being unrealistic at all! I have endometriosis and my experience last time was absolutely fine with just a tens machine, gas and air plus a birth pool. I also used hypnobirthing breathing techniques. I'm planning exactly the same for pain relief this time around, which I think says something (AKA I have no regrets)!

Poppins2016 · 01/08/2021 16:25
@Kirky658 not sure if your planning to bf but my endo pain didn’t come back last time whilst I was bf and didn’t have periods planning for same thing again 🤞🏼
@2021mumma
@Kirky658

I'll echo the above! I had the same experience, hoping my periods and endo pain stay away for a decent length of time with this baby, too. I breastfed for over 2 years in the end, but periods came back when DS was about 10 months old (once he was well into the food weaning process, so I had a pretty reasonable break!

I would advise to be pre-prepared for the return of your periods... make sure you have the same painkiller and sanitary protection regime to hand as you had before you were pregnant. I was taken by surprise and regret not having had my usual prescribed pain relief to hand.

Squibble84 · 01/08/2021 19:26

@Poppins2016 that’s great you can have the home birth you wanted!

I’m slightly gutted as I wanted to birth at the mlu at my hospital but because of my low Papp-a they’ve said I can’t, I also can’t use the pools in the maternity ward as they have to monitor the baby’s heart rate the whole time so it looks like I’m going to be strapped to a machine just like last time which was what I was hoping to avoid this time! 😫 I’m going to take my fairy lights and diffuser and try and make it as cosy as possible and that’s about as much as I can do!

crobo87 · 01/08/2021 19:54

@Bubbles1st my bump is exactly the same. Not helped by the fact he's transverse so there's literally nothing at the bottom, not even baby lol,

@Squibble84 i didn't know you had to be monitored the whole time with low Papp-a, no one has told me that yet 😳. I was hoping for quite an active labour like I did with my first but sounds like that my not be the case now 🙈

CherLW · 01/08/2021 20:21

Hey All, hope everyone is doing well ❤️

Has anyone ever contacted or been to the MAU or Maternity centre about leaking Amniotic Fluid? I called them about half hour ago and they have told me to wear a maternity pad for 2 hours and then call back.

Part of me thinks I might be as apparently it smells sweet. I’m just a bit worried at what this might mean? Has anyone ever been told anything?

SillyBry · 01/08/2021 20:41

@CherLW No experience here, but I hope it's all ok. I would say just keep an eye and keep nagging the Labour Ward if you're concerned!

I've felt awful this weekend - not sure if it's a delayed reaction from my Covid jab mid week or just pregnancy sh*te, but I had a nap yesterday and two today... I am NOT a napper! But I've had horrendous headaches and just felt wiped out. I've felt slightly paranoid as I felt like that the weekend before I went into labour with my first, but I'm not quite 35 weeks now, not ready yet!

CherLW · 01/08/2021 20:45

@SillyBry I think she’s giving it 2 hours to see. She said they will get me in to assess me if at 10 it’s a bit wet 🤢😕. I’m 35+2 and I’m definitely not ready!

Kirky658 · 01/08/2021 20:58

@poppins2016 thanks for the support hun, good to know about a fellow endo sufferers journey of labour and post birth too! Got my panadol & codeine to hand.

@cherlw at 22 weeks I thought I had leaking fluid, they told me to put a pad on and had to give them the pad when I went to the MAU, it wasn't fluid for me it was just thrush but keep a very close eye on it. If it is your waters they can give you medication to prevent labour etc so try not to worry too much yet. Please keep us posted x

CherLW · 01/08/2021 21:02

@Kirky658 thanks for the info, I was just so worried if there was anything they can do if it is waters…I’ll call back at 10 and see what they say. Just hoping it’s one of those pregnancy side effects and not fluid!

AdventuresAwait · 01/08/2021 21:04

@CherLW, I did a few weeks back now and they told me to wear a pad for an hour and get checked. It wasn't fluid (in fact the pad was dry when I went in) but they told me it would smell a bit like a wet digestive biscuit if it was. I don't have any other experience, sorry, but it's good that you're getting checked xx

CherLW · 01/08/2021 21:15

@AdventuresAwait I keep thinking the pad is just going to be dry.. she said if it is then I’ll have to monitor it and call again if any worries. It smells kind of sweet so that’s what’s made me panic a bit.
Thank you x

AdventuresAwait · 02/08/2021 08:54

Good morning @CherLW, how did you get on? Did you speak to them again last night? Xx

CherLW · 02/08/2021 09:19

@AdventuresAwait Morning 😊 yeh I called them last night and she said it didn’t sound like it was my waters. She said if it was my waters then it wouldn’t stop and would continue coming out throughout the night so to see what it was like this morning…. There is nothing this morning so I feel it was just one of those love pregnancy side effects 😕.
I’m going to keep a close eye tho for a couple of days just to monitor things a bit.
Thank you for checking in ☺️ X
