I'm thinking now is as good a time as any to start winding down though. I'd like to keep swimming till as close to due date as I can ideally. Still need to walk the dog about 3 miles a day too. So least that's something decent. Today has knackered me up!

Hopefulmummie · 02/08/2021 20:45

Has anyone felt like their baby has dropped yet? I had really sore pains all day and baby pushing against me more and now seems to be alot lower down than she was.
My husband came in from work there and commented how much lower my bump looked. Does this mean baby could be engaged?

Kirky658 · 02/08/2021 21:03

@hopefulmummie I don't think she has yet but I was reading about this earlier, apparently it can happen anytime from about 34 weeks but doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be born soon x

SillyBry · 02/08/2021 21:05

Not dropped here yet. The midwife said on Friday that baby is head down, but still “floating around”. I think I was engaged around 36 weeks last time.

Activity levels have dropped massively here. I tried to go for a run on Saturday and had such bad cramps in my calves that it was more of a walking limp. I have a feeling it might be the beginning of the end for me… I’m going to try running this week and see how I go, but I suspect I’m not far off walking and swimming!

Squibble84 · 02/08/2021 21:06

@Hopefulmummie sounds like your baby has dropped down - at your next midwife appointment ask the midwife to check how engaged the baby’s head is, I think they do that anyway at this stage. At my 34 week appointment, my baby’s head was 2/5 engaged and I’d definitely been feeling lots of pressure down there, however it’s eased off now so I think baby has popped back out again!

AdventuresAwait · 02/08/2021 21:29

@Hopefulmummie, I'm 34+4 and feel as though baby has dropped a bit. Midwife said at my appointment on Friday that she was starting to engage too.

bewitchingnight · 02/08/2021 21:32

This evening there's been a lot of pushing against me and I think she is more in the centre than before but I don't think she's dropped any lower. Exciting!

Hopefulmummie · 02/08/2021 22:33

Yeah will def ask at next growth scan.. Will be 36 weeks then so she hopefully will be engaged... Getting closer eeek

Kat1112025 · 02/08/2021 22:41

@Kirky658, still swimming a couple of times a week, Pilates and walking. But sometimes just standing up to go and make a cup of tea is exhausting and achy. I find once I'm up and moving I can go for a long walk (2miles +) and feel ok, but moving after being sedentary is very uncomfortable.

I'm hoping to stay active until the end, but I also had a little cry because I was so tired after walking up 4 flights of stairs at a train station, so I'm finding it very up and down!

Kat1112025 · 02/08/2021 22:43

Oh and running was abandoned in the first trimester, I was too tired and nauseous to attempt it. I do wish I'd persisted now though. It'll probably be almost a year off when I start again!

crobo87 · 02/08/2021 23:29

@Hopefulmummie my baby is currently breach. Definitely no signs of him even attempting to be head down yet....he has 3 weeks to turn 😬

Jay3004 · 03/08/2021 05:12

@crobo87 another breach baby here

Noodles4Me · 03/08/2021 08:14

I'm only managing to walk now, cycling os too hard with bump in way. I'm only walking 2 miles a day when work allows (working till 4 days before birth).

Baby is not back to back now so he is off my sciatic nerve thank f*ck coz that was not fun! Got my 37 week, final I hope, growth scan on Wednesday and my pre-op.

Scotti84 · 03/08/2021 08:38

@Kat1112025 im like that too, once I'm up and about im ok, but having the motivation is another thing. I'm also struggling with comfy clothes, in the house I can wear what I want but outside i need to look at least a bit decent, and the weather here atm is lovely mountain weather, one minute blazing sun, the next the clouds appear and it starts to get stormy... its just all too much effort 🤦‍♀️ so lazy!

SP2Bx · 03/08/2021 08:51

Oh my goodness @Noodles4Me , pre-op tomorrow?! That has made it feel scarily close even though I'm a few weeks behind! I think as soon as babies start appearing in this group time is going to flyyyyy

Suma2021 · 03/08/2021 09:15

Currently my most important "exercise" goal is to do about an hour's combination of light yoga, deep breathing / meditation, stretches and exercises my physio gave me to do for SPD - if not daily then every 2 days. I find it just makes me feel so much looser, but stronger and generally better. It still manages to get me out of breath too Grin.

I'm trying to keep walking though, if I feel up for it. That's for

Scotti84 · 03/08/2021 09:38

Anybody had an induction before? How did they do it, and how did you find it? Just had a chat with a midwife and although i was set on a c section over an induction it has given me a bit to think about... if anyone's got any personal experiences i'd be interested to know, good or bad.

Kirky658 · 03/08/2021 09:51

@scotti84 I've not had an induction but I can tell you that for our hospital trust its been a nightmare. They book ladies in for induction then the wards are too busy and they end up waiting ages to go in - I'm talking days. Would depend on how busy your hospital is I guess. X

Scotti84 · 03/08/2021 10:13

@Kirky658 whaaa??? Thats crazy, isnt the whole point of an induction that the baby needs to be out sooner rather than later? I think it should be ok here, im hoping so anyway, cos if its not too busy i get my own room!

Kirky658 · 03/08/2021 10:26

@scotti84 honestly it's madness, they have been waiting 3-4 days in some cases!!! I just hope I can get in, have a normal birth, and get home!!!! X

KHR1 · 03/08/2021 10:51

@Scotti84 I was induced with DD as she was 10 days overdue. Got a call at 6am on the day I was due to go in, pessary in at 8am. Went for countless walks and stayed on the birthing ball in between and my waters broke naturally at 5pm in the middle of the hospital carpark. As my waters went naturally I actually got onto the labour ward but other people who were more dilated than me but were waiting for waters to be broken medically were there quite a while, some had been there days. Was put on the drip after a few hours in the labour suite as contractions weren't progressing enough and that sure sped things up!

Noodles4Me · 03/08/2021 11:32

@SP2Bx I know! Pre-op seems a bit early since ELCS is two weeks away but I suppose it gets it done and can ask all my millions of questions.

Happy to say, 75% of the bag is packed!

leftitlate37 · 03/08/2021 11:38

thanks @Bubbles1st for the thread! Cant believe how close its getting for us all!
@Kirky658 hope your weekend away was fun! walk sounds like an epic ;) my running has taken a big hit, once a week probs now, but swimming 6 times a week - the only time i dont feel massive and achey!
apparently our local trusts are also getting peoeple in for inductions and then waiting days to go to labour ward....really hoping this doesnt happen to us.
defo starting to struggle more here, feeling like a whale with a v achey back - kinda wishing the weeks away but got friends with new babies who are finding it TOUGH, so you know that probably in a better situation right now ;)
exciting some of u r winding down with work and starting mat leave!! my boss has no cover in....but guess that's nothing for me to worry about!?

Krista1991 · 03/08/2021 11:46

Good morning 🤰🏼🙂

Had my 34 week midwife appointment this morning ,I will have a membrane sweep at 38 weeks 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥳

I hope everyone doing ok 😇

Scotti84 · 03/08/2021 13:02

@KHR1 how was the pain level with the drip? If you had to have another induction would you do it again?
