@GWhiteley I love the fabric, and handmade what a kind gift.

KHR1 · 31/07/2021 09:34

@GWhiteley love the changing bag!

Mrsserenalewis · 31/07/2021 10:25

@Kirky658 I only used gas and air with all my labours. Even when we was being induced. Don’t underestimate yourself. Think of it as a placebo like when children have a plaster and everything is better. Gas and air of course doesn’t take all the pain away but keeps you focused. You can also move around a lot more which helps the labour process quicker. I’ll be using it again this time x

Mrsserenalewis · 31/07/2021 10:26

@GWhiteley beautiful changing bag. Love that I’ll be more personal x

GWhiteley · 31/07/2021 10:42

Have to admit, I'm definitely going to be having an epidural. I know I've got a low pain threshold & don't think gas & air will cut it. But everyone's different & it's certainly a personal choice

FTEngineerM · 31/07/2021 11:03

Gas and air is cracking to be fair @Kirky658 and contractions aren’t constant which endo pain probably was?

Kirky658 · 31/07/2021 11:06

@sp2bx @mrsserenalewis thanks girls ❤️ yeah I would love a water birth and the option to move around too, planning to take my ball in with me so I can use that too!

@ftengineerm yeah that's what I was thinking, it was constant throughout the month for me and I'd often collapse during a flare up. So hey labour should be fine 😅

Scotti84 · 31/07/2021 14:35

Personal question, but hows everyone doing with intimacy and stuff atm? I feel sorry for my OH because im just so not into it atm, so much going on down there that's the last thing I can deal with, alongside my mood swings and general moaning about aches and pains he's got a lot to put up with!

Squibble84 · 31/07/2021 14:41

@Scotti84 not much happening over here! My sex drive takes a massive dive when I’m pregnant, that on top of a heavy bleed early on, morning sickness until 24 weeks and now feeling huge, achey and bloated, we’ve managed to dtd once since I fell pregnant! My DH is super understanding though, we have a great relationship, and are still intimate in other ways so I know it’s just a phase!

Noodles4Me · 31/07/2021 14:45

@Scotti84 we are still doing it 3-4 times a week but getting into a comfortable position is amusing!! But I never got sickness or bleeding so I've been lucky to carry on fairly well!

I'm not sure what's going to happen after the CS. I'm not sure I can last 6 weeks without but who knows!

Mrsserenalewis · 31/07/2021 15:11

Currently only 1-2 weekly. It’s been struggle to find a comfortable position. The breathlessness doesn’t help either x

SillyBry · 31/07/2021 17:10

3-4 times a week is impressive!! It’s once a week at best here and frankly, that’s a sense of duty at this end 🤣🤣
I feel like a lumbering whale, which is not attractive!

In terms of pain relief, I found hiring a tens machine massively helpful for the early stages and gas and air really helped me.
Personally I would rather try to manage with gas and air as I had pethidine last time and really hated the drugged up/out of control feeling.
I would also say that the more drugs you have, the more drugs baby has… the pethidine made me daughter really sleepy for the first few days and I struggled to feed her… we were then hospitalised with jaundice. I then found out that was far more common with pethidine/epidurals etc.
I would remain open minded to what you want as labour can go any which way… but if mine is straightforward, i am going to try and stick to gas and air 😊

KHR1 · 31/07/2021 17:38

Probably about once a fortnight here, always so tired and uncomfortable. Last pregnancy was much more frequent.

With DD I was adamant I wasn't going to have an epidural (huge fear of needles and the idea of having something stuck in my back and all the wires freaked me out). Started with gas and air, had an injections of something (maybe pethadine but tbh I don't have a clue 😂) and pretty much straight after that had an epidural. My midwife had warned me before labour that a large percentage of people who get put on the induction drip end up with an epidural though. This time I'd like to try just gas an air, not against an epidural but didn't like not being able to move around. Last time I was stuck in the bed anyway as they needed to monitor baby but want to avoid that this time if I can.

@SillyBry what does the tens machine do? And where did you hire it from?

Kirky658 · 31/07/2021 17:57

@scotti84 about once a week here too, just don't feel up to it most days too tired! Holidays now though so maybe we will feel more up for it!

Mrsserenalewis · 31/07/2021 18:05

Does anyone else feel like their baby is kicking or head butting their cervix 😬😬

SillyBry · 31/07/2021 18:10

@KHR1 there are lots of websites that do hire, it’s around £30 and you get it for 6 weeks. Then just post it back when done.
You get little pads that you place on your back and then when you get a contraction, you can send little electrical pulses, which is supposed to help with the pain. I just found it was something that I could control and something to focus on during contractions.

It’s so hard as my last labour was relatively short. (Admitted at 4am, birthed at 11.48…) had I have known that, I would’ve probably coped without the pethidine… but there’s nothing to say it’ll be the same this time.
The positive of pethidine is it sent me to sleep for 45 minutes. The downsides, it made me sick and completely boggled my brain. And I’m sure it effected my early feeding… but that’s anecdotal/just my inkling.

Squibble84 · 31/07/2021 18:34

@KHR1 my hospital have tens machines on the labour ward so it might also be worth asking your midwife.

FTEngineerM · 31/07/2021 18:39

@Scotti84 like never, maybe once in the last month. My hips are too painful for that 😂.

@SillyBry it defo happens so not just you, it’s quite common because to be effective for the mum it goes through the blood stream and that ends up in the baby’s, if you got nearly an hours rest I think it was worth it 😀. It’s a slightly different reason to why they’re sleepy after epidural, because labour usually takes quite a lot longer and it’s tiring for them too by the time they’re pushed or dragged out (in my case😂) then they just wanna nap for aaaaages. I can remember calling the midwife at 2am asking why he wasn’t feeding.

I’m not ruling it out again though, labour is exhausting. We had jaundice too, I think it lasted 2 days but maybe that’s hazy now.

@Kirky658 that sounds awful glad it’s not like that anymore for you😩 if someone has compared it to labour I couldn’t or wouldn’t even like to think about a month of labour 😲.

Suma2021 · 31/07/2021 18:39

@Scotti84 Ohh our sex life is non existent since getting pregnant! I think maybe a couple of times during the whole pregnancy. We've discussed it at length and both just don't feel like it at all. It's not even occurred to us. We are really close and still very affectionate, so it's not a problem. Intimacy can come in lots of forms Smile

Kirky658 · 31/07/2021 18:45

@ftengineerm honestly I wouldn't wish endo on my worst enemy. Got some relief after my last surgery but very concerned as to how quickly it could come back post pregnancy with hormones being all over the place 🙄

Little bub is being a monkey and not wriggling as much... She's been very active this morning when I was relaxing and quieter now. Just had an ice cold drink and she's wriggling a little more so going to keep an eye on it as we are going away tomorrow.

FTEngineerM · 31/07/2021 18:48

Oooo nice, are you going on a baby moon? I think I remember you saying you’d booked one.

KHR1 · 31/07/2021 18:55

Thanks @SillyBry and @Squibble84 didn't know some Labour wards did them, although £30 isn't bad at all, expected it to be way more!

2021mumma · 31/07/2021 19:50

@Kirky658 not sure if your planning to bf but my endo pain didn’t come back last time whilst I was bf and didn’t have periods planning for same thing again 🤞🏼

Kirky658 · 31/07/2021 19:58

@ftengineerm just to Wales for a few days to my parents caravan, nothing high end but it's our 2nd anniversary on weds so off for a nice meal!

@2021mumma I am seriously hoping to and have heard this so fingers crossed 😬😬😬

2021mumma · 31/07/2021 20:49

Has anyone like me got zero energy, I am recovering from covid which I think I’m over but feel like I’m running on zero and think my csection date is going to coincide with my last day at work so no time to wind down 😱 my husband is literally doing everything whilst I lie on sofa
