This is brilliant news @Kirky658 ! ❤️

I've had a letter from what I can only assume is the HV service (although it doesn't actually say anywhere)... Stating that I'd be due an appointment at home about now but because of covid they're not doing them at the moment, and that my first one will be about 10 days after baby is born 🤷🏼‍♀️ I do feel a bit clueless about what to do once baby is here (in some respects)... but just counting on mother's instinct really! 🙈

Joey86 · 19/08/2021 13:51

I just had a call from the hv, she wanted to re schedule as I cancelled. She actually sounds lovely, and said they aim to have the same hv for the first year now. When I had my other two you never knew who you'd see, hence missing my pnd I guess! I told her I have builders in, and she said that's fine as long as I don't mind, she just wants to introduce herself and meet me before baby comes, which actually sounds like a better system than they had 10-12yrs ago. So I've booked in for Tuesday morning. I might've had baby by then anyway if this sweep works, and if not I have another one booked in for Monday.

S&s went well, I'm 2cm dilated. Cervix was a bit far back so she couldn't quite reach above it, but said she swept around the opening. Bit of cramping, and some shooting pains in my cervix afterwards. Baby's heart rate was all good, just gotta see what happens now.

AdventuresAwait · 19/08/2021 14:24

I had a letter from the Health Visitor after the red book arrived. It explained that they're not doing home visits until after the birth due to covid. So they scheduled a video call. It was fine, just an introduction to the HV service. They said they'll visit us at home on day 5.

Brilliant news @Kirky658 🥰

SillyBry · 19/08/2021 15:36

@Kirky658 What fantastic news for you - I hope you've managed some more time together today. I can't imagine how stressful it is to have to keep fighting for what you need... and simultaneously stay calm to lower that blood pressure!!

@Joey86 Your experience sounds similar to mine - my first was jaundice and slept beautifully... it was only when we went in to get her on the sun bed that they told me she needed forcefully waking and feeding, despite what she wanted!!
We never had to worry about a dummy though as she was practically born sucking her thumb! ;-)
Glad the S&S went well - 2cm is definitely a good start.
I'm 37 weeks and still working, so hoping baby can stay in a wee bit longer!

Taybz · 19/08/2021 16:26

Hi ladies, I've been a bit quiet here lately but just been catching up on your updates. @Kirky658 I'm so glad you finally got to spend some time with little Alice 💜

I'm feeling absolutely shattered as our munchkin is so active at nights and I hardly get any sleep and am incapable of napping during the day. Does anyone else just want the baby to come already?! I'm 36+3 today and I think I'm done being pregnant now 😄 honestly can't wait to sleep on my stomach again! How's everyone else feeling?

Sceptre86 · 19/08/2021 16:55

I must have been lucky then because I have had positive experiences with all my health visitors. The last lady I had with my ds was particularly great, no judgement for not breastfeeding him and was always so pleased that he put on weight on each occasion she visited. She made me feel very much supported. if you haven't had any experience with a health visitor I would say keep an open mind. Remember that their advice is just that advice, you will learn and know your own baby best and don't have to follow exactly what they say. It isn't one size fits all when it comes to babies.

@Taybz I've been fine minus the usual aches, pains and discomfort. I had an iron infusion last week which seems to be perking me up energy wise although I have been sick a few times over the last few days. I went for a pcr test today as have a cough buy it is more phlegmy than dry, will hopefully get the results tomorrow.

@kirky658 so glad you and Alice will be together now x

Noodles4Me · 19/08/2021 18:09

Evening all. Had my boy at 39 weeks by ELCS at 11am this morning. 7lbs 9oz.

He's gorgeous and very chilled. No name yet. I'm okay, not too sore yet, hoping to get up walking soon. Hoping home tomorrow. Smile

Scotti84 · 19/08/2021 18:18

Congrats @Noodles4Me! Hope you have a good recovery and can get home soon with your little one!

@Taybz nights are a nightmare! Sleeping on and off, aches, needing to pee every 2 hrs etc...

Just had my last drs appt before the birth, baby is measuring at 8lb 3, which is scaring me a little, but the dr said its not a problem... easy for him!

SP2Bx · 19/08/2021 18:45

Aaaah huge congrats @Noodles4Me 💙 Pleased to hear you and baby are doing well ☺️ x

bewitchingnight · 19/08/2021 19:26

Congrats @Noodles4Me lovely news 💙

Scotti84 · 19/08/2021 19:41

@Taybz im 39 weeks, is that a good weight? It sounds on the bigger side, but they said she's long so im hoping its more that than width!

AdventuresAwait · 19/08/2021 20:20

Congratulations @Noodles4Me! Such lovely news xx

D0nut · 19/08/2021 20:29

Congratulations @Noodles4Me! This is lovely news. I hope your recovery goes really well.

Mamabearwhere · 19/08/2021 20:41

@Noodles4Me Aw congratulations! That’s lovely news, must be so nice to have baby cuddles.

@Taybz I am absolutely DONE with being pregnant. So so so tired, really irritable, have no energy to do anything exciting with my older 2 so feeling all the guilt. I’m 36 weeks tomorrow and basically counting down to 37 weeks before I start on all the old wives tales of getting baby out. I just want to have my baby, sleep on my tummy and move at a normal speed without feeling so much aches and pains.

All these lovely new babies is getting me really excited though!

AdventuresAwait · 19/08/2021 20:48

I seem to be in the minority but I've been thinking that in 2 weeks I won't be pregnant anymore & feel a bit sad about it! So excited for baby & can't wait to meet her but I'm going to really miss being pregnant. Feeling well & loving these last few weeks of pregnancy. I hope these two weeks don't go too fast. Anyone else? Xx

Sceptre86 · 19/08/2021 20:54

@Taybz yes I'm double jabbed. x
