@AdventuresAwait I definitely will miss being pregnant! I love feeling her move about and I adore my bump! I think tbf though I've had a much easier 3rd trimester than alot of other ladies so I do recognise im really lucky! The only thing I'm struggling with is congestion but I can absolutely manage with that. I totally get what you mean though, it's a lovely memory to look back on isnt it?

RadDarwazeh · 19/08/2021 21:37

I'm with you @AdventuresAwait and @unicornpower. I think it's because I finally look pregnant to others and I'm enjoying it. And the movements. Some are uncomfortable and I do miss glass of a red wine and sleeping on my back and tummy. But I know I'll really miss my bump! Xx

Taybz · 19/08/2021 22:20

@Scotti84 absolutely yes, for 39 weeks I'd say so.

@Mamabearwhere I could have written that myself!! Exactly my feelings. We're almost there I guess! X

Ladies, don't get me wrong, I do love my bump, have enjoyed my pregnancy and will miss it but I think it's evacuation time now 😃

AdventuresAwait · 19/08/2021 22:31

Thank you @unicornpower and @RadDarwazeh! I agree about loving feeling the movements and loving my bump... I think I feel more confident about my body than I ever have done. This is our first but will probably be our only baby so I keep thinking how I won't experience this feeling again. But at the same time, I'm so grateful I'll have a baby and still cannot believe it! Going to try and savour/record as much of these last two weeks as possible xx

CherLW · 19/08/2021 22:36

@AdventuresAwait I feel the same as you, I feel sad that I soon won’t be pregnant anymore. I can’t wait for him to be here but at the moment it’s me and him and I love having moments of just us when I can feeling him rolling about. I’m loving being pregnant and knowing he’s safe.

I have a wedding at the end of October so have just been looking at some dresses and feeling sad I won’t need maternity dresses anymore. Xx

LauEli · 19/08/2021 22:39

@Noodles4Me congratulations 😁

AdventuresAwait · 19/08/2021 23:30

@CherLW, the feeling of the movements is amazing isn't it? And I'm not looking forward to wearing non-maternity clothing again! Xx

CherLW · 20/08/2021 00:08

@AdventuresAwait I love it and it always feel so lovely, like I’m never bored or take those movements for granted.
I think I will make my maternity leggings and jeans a permanent item in my wardrobe 😂 xx

Kirky658 · 20/08/2021 00:13

Hi girls sorry I haven't been updating much. I was allowed to visit Alice last nigh for 2 hours with a midwife escort in case my BP spiked dangerously again where they couldn't monitor me! Anyway so that was fab. My BP is under reasonable control now so they've moved her from the ward to be with me. However. I had a visit from a bitchy nurse who said that she's lost more than 10% of her body weight since she's been born and that as a result its my fault and I need to feed her every 2 hours 27mls of milk. She won't latch onto the breast because she's too immature and she's struggling to suckle the bottle for a long period before she gets tired. So tonight I've had a visit from the consultant neonatologist in the NICU who's said that the best plan of action is to transfer her back there so that she can be tube fed to get her weight back up again. I'm really really starting to struggle now and my emotions are a complete mess. I think the midwifes are concerned it is the beginnings of PND so they're keeping a close eye on me. It's just one step forward and three back, I'm really not sure how much more I can take 😭😭

deedeebythesea · 20/08/2021 03:56

When I see three whole new pages since my last visit, I know we have had a new arrival in the group! 💕 @Noodles4Me congratulations mama! Wishing you a speedy recovery and hope the little one is adjusting well to the big world! xx

@KHR1 & @MrsTD88 thank you girls! I did call when I saw your messages. Triage was very helpful and talked me through my concerns. Movements have come back now. Finally!

I am not sure where I am at with the whole being fed up with being preggo or going to miss it kind of thing. I had a very easy ride and can’t complain. Stayed active throughout, never had a medical reason to be concerned about, enjoyed all the extra attention and pampering from DH. And I do love the bump. But not the maternity clothes. So fed up with wearing the same thing over and over again. Going to treat myself to a whole new wardrobe when I am ready. I miss proper exercise and feeling strong in my body. Miss long, and I mean long, dog walks. And I am also quite impatient. Turning my mat leave automatic reply on my emails tomorrow at 2pm and the only thing left in the diary is a dinner reservation at 7pm. So ready to meet this baby now! Won’t be mad if it happens tomorrow night. So I guess I am 50/50 but more leaning towards “fed up, let’s have this baby now!”

P.S. For those who too loved feeling the baby movements: my colleague whose baba is now 7
months says she can still feel phantom kicks! Every now and then she forgets the bump is no longer there because she can still feel an odd (obvs not real) movement. How mental is that?!

deedeebythesea · 20/08/2021 04:02

@Kirky658 oh lovely, this sounds so tough! I am so sorry both you and gorgeous Alice have been through some much! Whatever happens next, please make sure you are looking after yourself. It won’t be long until you will be properly reunited and allowed to go home. You will need all your energy and health then. Personally, I always question every decision medical professionals try to enforce and demand answers before agreeing to anything. But I am sure they are doing the right thing for Alice. It is so much easier said than done but do try and get some rest! Sending all lots of love to you both X

AdventuresAwait · 20/08/2021 04:29

Yes me too @CherLW! 🤣

@Kirky658, I'm sorry to hear that. Hoping Alice quickly puts weight back on and can be with you again. It must be so hard. Sending hugs xx

@deedeebythesea, glad movements are back! Wow, interesting to read about your colleague. I've not heard of phantom kicks before. Must feel strange but I think I'd like it! A little reminder Xx

unicornpower · 20/08/2021 05:55

I've been awake since 5am with a horrendous blocked nose and I cannot get back to sleep! I may have been wrong when I said I could manage it Confused

MrsTD88 · 20/08/2021 06:10

Oh @Kirky658 I'm so sorry, sounds like you're having such a rough time of it. I hope Alice gains the weight quickly.

@deedeebythesea I'm really glad your movements have come back. What a relief! That must feel so good finishing up work, I still have just over a week to go.

@unicornpower blocked nose here too! Haven't dared look at the time until now but been awake at least an hour. Now I'm sooooo hungry but can't muster the energy to get up and make something 🤣

AdventuresAwait · 20/08/2021 06:12

Sorry to hear that @unicornpower. Is there anything you can take for it?
I've been awake most of the night too 😒

Kat1112025 · 20/08/2021 06:46

@Kirky658 that sucks!

Eddie went on a feeding tube straight away (he was born under 33 weeks and they knew he wouldn't be able to feed yet). He still lost over 10% in the first week, it's not your fault it just happens.

The tube isn't the end of the world. We're still able to practice breastfeeding around it and we do most of the tube feeds ourselves. Lots of the mums on the special care baby unit have babies that are half breast, half tube fed and ready to be sent home.

The main downside is that Alice will need to be on neonatal.

It is definitely up and down with these little preemies, not a straight path from birth to going home.

Sending you hugs X

SP2Bx · 20/08/2021 07:57

@Kirky658 ❤️ Sending so much love and strength to you sweetie, this is heartbreaking. Have you spoken with the doctors/midwives about if Alice does go back, how often you can visit her on the ward now that you seem to be improving? It only seems fair that they take this into consideration for your own mental health now too. I'd be demanding that they find a way for me to be spending plenty of time down there!!!

unicornpower · 20/08/2021 08:02

@mrsTD88 how annoying is it! I was starving too so admitted defeat and got up and had a banana- think today will be a two coffee day!

@AdventuresAwait nope Sad just vapour rub and those inhaler sticks are okay, paracetamol helped with the sinus pain but there isn't much I can do about the blocked nose unfortunately. How are you feeling? How come you've been up all night? X

AdventuresAwait · 20/08/2021 08:15

Oh @unicornpower, how frustrating! I'm doing well thanks, just struggled to sleep last night. I wake up a few times every night to go to the toilet and sometimes get a bit breathless when laying down. But last night I was just wide awake 🤔

unicornpower · 20/08/2021 08:20

@AdventuresAwait oh I hear you on the breathlessness! Its so uncomfortable isn't it. Not long to go now though love, you'll feel much better soon! X

MrsTD88 · 20/08/2021 08:32

@unicornpower it's so frustrating isn't it. I'm looking forward to being able to take Sudafed once again! I'm planning a nap on my lunch break already. Need to get ready now to take little one to school and then a midwife appointment straight after.

CobleCloud · 20/08/2021 09:10

@Kirky658 sending lots of love to you and Alice, please remember to take care of yourself too!

Ladies: I feel like a walking zombie today had a rubbish nights sleep here too. I was wide awake 2-4:30 am then when I nodded off I couldn't get comfy the hip pain from side sleeping is getting unbearable. Only positive was little man appeared to be awake with me and had a lovely time feeling him moving around whilst I was awake!

primhutch · 20/08/2021 09:31

Hi Everyone!

Haven't been on for a while, so lovely to see we've had some beautiful babies - congratulations to all the new mamas

My EDD is 1st September and I am losing my mind. I finished work on 6th August as I was struggling and now I regret it! Nothing to do apart from assess every twinge and movement. I just want her here.

How is everyone passing the time?xx

Suma2021 · 20/08/2021 10:09

Massive congratulations to all the new mums on this thread ! 💪🏻💐

Haha, @unicornpower
Today definitely a "two Coffee day" for me - reserved for when my sleep is absolute pants all night! Last night I think I set a record for amount of times up to pee. Basically every hour since 11pm, finally sleeping properly from 6am!

@Adventuresawait I do feel the same about missing being pregnant! Don't get me wrong, the insomnia and aches and pains are tedious sometimes and I miss my body being able to do hard work, or go for a walk without struggling. And to cook without sitting on something, or wash up over the sink without my back aching....BUT I love feeling my bump move and respond to me, and how DH chats away to it, and the movements do bring us some laughs sometimes. Also sounds cheesy but I feel really special being pregnant. Even just walking down the street 😁 I've always been body conscious and for some reason feel more confident having a big, obvious, pregnant belly than ever before 😁

@primhutch I've not been working since July due to having a very physical job in vet with SPD (which has now died down). Personally I'm loving it! But I'm quite a homebody anyway! We moved house 2 weeks ago, and have been busy organising things, decorating etc so definitely grateful of the time I have to do that. The house is only a tiny cottage, but has a huge garden so I've been embracing gardening, obviously it takes me forever to pull up some weeds but I've really been enjoying the fresh air and distraction lately. I'm finding with getting up quite late and going to bed relatively early my days feel short and time is flying for me.

Just trying to make the most of the downtime and peace and quiet, if we have another child in the future it won't be like this SmileSmile

SillyBry · 20/08/2021 10:45

@Noodles4Me Congratulations!! I hope you get home today and you're still recovering well :-)

@Kirky658 I'm sorry it's gone backwards again. I feel like I'd be tempted to tell said bitchy nurse that it's difficult to blame you if you aren't able to see her or be in any way responsible for her feeding!!
Don't feel like putting her on the tube is a failing - it's so challenging for her to feed when you're both in different parts of the hospital.
It's not the same at all, but when my daughter was re-admitted with jaundice, I really struggled to feed her fully without her drifting back off to sleep again. The nurses always suggested stripping her down, changing her nappy and tickling her with wet wipes to keep her attention!
