Congratulations @Jay3004 ! Hope he'll be out of NICU and in your arms getting cuddles soon ❤️

Has anyone felt quite a significant shift in the way they feel around 35+3? I've found myself feeling a bit startled by it a few times yesterday.
Ended up taking a few paracetamol last night and spending most of the afternoon and evening on the sofa feeling crappy.
3 days ago, suddenly I was sleeping much better than I had been previously but on waking (and waking LATE) felt like I could carry on sleeping forever.
Then yesterday, I had an uncomfortable pressure in my pelvis / back on and off all day with sharp pains on the tops of my thighs, sore groin and under my bump (more so than I usually do I mean). Loads of Braxton Hicks (normally I only notice 1 or 2 a day). Thought I wanted a walk, but when I was out found my body felt really sore, and my stomach a constant hard rock, so headed home. An odd stomach ache on and off, kind of like nausea but I can't tell. Had to stop eating dinner last night a few mouthfuls in because my stomach suddenly got really hard and I felt a big ache, then it went away and suddenly I was hungry again. My whole body has been aching and feeling heavy and sensitive, like an extreme version of how I'd feel before starting a period.
I'm not worried- baby is moving lots, I'm drinking loads of water etc. Sure it's all normal as body getting ready, but wondered if anyone else has noticed what feels like a large hormonal shift around this time? Smile

FTEngineerM · 18/08/2021 09:08

Congratulations @Jay3004 hope you get cuddles soon, glad he was a good weight. Fingers crossed you’re all home soon

Kat1112025 · 18/08/2021 09:13

Congratulations @Jay3004 ♥️ I love the name Kit, sadly it was way too close to my name for us to use it, plus the chocolate association for us as a duo 😂... But it was on the list of favourites X

I hope he progresses well and you get some cuddles soon.

crobo87 · 18/08/2021 09:14

Congratulations @Jay3004

@Suma2021 I'm 34+4 and felt exactly as you described yesterday.
I was in awful pain with backache & stomach pains to the point I was contemplating calling the hospital. I took some paracetamol & had a bath which eased it after a few hours but it definitely shocked me. X

Squibble84 · 18/08/2021 09:30

@Jay3004 huge congratulations and welcome to the world baby kit! Hope your recovery is quick and that you’re enjoying baby cuddles soon!

Squibble84 · 18/08/2021 09:31

There’s been quite a few new joiners recently - if anyone who hasn’t yet wants to join our Facebook group just send me a private message and I can add you!

Scotti84 · 18/08/2021 09:46

CherLW · 18/08/2021 09:49

@Jay3004 Congratulations 💙 hopefully not too long until you get your first cuddle xx

Bubbles1st · 18/08/2021 09:54

I'm going to update the list soon, we might even need a new thread soon!

Just wondering those with section dates, would you like the list updating to reflect these or leave the list as your due date?

@Jay3004 Congratulations! What a lovely name 💙 wishing you both a speedy recovery xx

AdventuresAwait · 18/08/2021 10:38

@Bubbles1st, I'm happy for it to be my due date so would probably choose that but I don't mind either way! So I'll go with whichever others want 😊

KHR1 · 18/08/2021 11:31

Saw my midwife today, she's convinced it will be the last time as I'm seeing the consultant at 40 weeks. My blood pressure has been up and down throughout the third trimester and today it was 137/97, then similar again at the end of the appointment but the midwife didn't seem concerned as it was borderline. The consultant hasn't been happy with it being like that for quite a while, last time I had to stay in clinic until it was under 130/90 and she had asked for extra monitoring until my due date so confused as to why it got left...I know it's not really high but I used to have to get checked when it was like that and was offered early induction last time.

Sceptre86 · 18/08/2021 13:13

Congratulations @jay3004 hope you get to cuddle your little man soon. In the mean time keep trying to rest as much as you can x

Moominmiss · 18/08/2021 13:43

@Bubbles1st I don’t mind which dates are used on the new thread, I have a section date and would be happy for either to be listed.

Congratulations @Jay3004! I’m sure you’ll get that first amazing cuddle really soon 🥰

35+2 today and struggling. The tiredness has hit me like a ton of bricks, my back has started aching out of nowhere, more so on the side that baby’s spine is, his movements are so big now and just feel uncomfortable, I can’t walk far without feeling like he’s going to fall out, the GD is really getting me down, I’m sick of injecting daily, and I just want to fast forward 2 weeks so I can meet him. Every day he stays inside me I get more and more terrified of something going wrong and losing him. Plus my partner is working away right up until 2 nights before the scheduled section so I just feel super lonely when all I want are some cuddles and back rubs.

Sorry for the pity post lol 😭

FTEngineerM · 18/08/2021 13:59

Oh my god you’ve got a lot on your plate @Moominmiss 😩 fingers crossed the next two weeks flies by.

Better to be safe with the extra monitoring @KHR1 hopefully it’ll lead to nothing though.

@Bubbles1st I don’t know if you want to make one in a post natal club one too since we have new arrivals? I don’t mind making it but I didn’t just want to Wade in on your list, you’ve been shit hot with all these ❤️

Bubbles1st · 18/08/2021 14:22

@FTEngineerM oh that sounds well
Volunteered!! As I'm sat here thinking I'm having a baby soon how am I going to keep on top of it! No pressure though if you feel the same!

I'll just update the list with births and keep the due dates on this one.

Kirky658 · 18/08/2021 15:06

@jay3004 congrats!!!

Sorry I haven't been keeping up, I'm STILL in the ICU and starting to get very angry about it. My blood pressure was under control yesterday and it has started increasing todayahisn tao they won't release me onto the ward. I still can't see my baby whilst all this is going on as it's 'too dangerous to transport me in this state in case I get upset and I'm away from the medics'. So her daddy is trying to be there for me and her and its just breaking my heart. The midwifes just keep trying to be nice and telling me not to worry, it's only temporary, but they're not the ones missing their little girl's firsts. I want to be the person who put on her new baby grows, who cuddles her to sleep and sings to her, and the one who feeds her. I'm trying to express still and I'm told I'm doing well (get about 50ml a session) but I just feel like I'm failing her.

I have anxiety anyway and I'm really worried it's starting to spiral out of control as I can't stop crying, I just feel so helpless.

Alice is doing well we keep being told, but no one is giving us a clear picture of what she needs to achieve in order to be sent home so that's causing me mega problems worrying about that.

DH never talks about his feelings, says he is fine and coping well, but he's panicking about needing to sort stuff out for work for his paternity leave and he has now booked this for starting on 31st August and it feels like at this rate I'll still be here and so will Alice...

Sorry to go on a pity party rant but I'm just so fed up now. I was told I'd be discharged to the ward this morning now I'm being told I've got to stay here and I'm physically so well there's literally nothing wrong with me!!!!

Hopefulmummie · 18/08/2021 15:24

@Jay3004 congratulations!! Hope you are both doing wepl

Kat1112025 · 18/08/2021 15:36

@Kirky658 that sucks! I really hope you're moved to postnatal soon and can go to Alice whenever you want. I can't imagine the stress you're under not being able to see her.

We've been told we won't be going home until Eddie's managing his own temperature (ie ok outside a heated cot) and at least 50% breast or bottle fed. They are ok to discharge while still on an Ng feeding tube, so long as it's less than 50% of his intake, and the community outreach team check up on him.

There are other requirements like not needing oxygen etc. but he's not needed it so doesn't apply.

Hopefully someone on NICU can talk to your husband about your hospital's requirements? They're likely to vary slightly based on the outreach support in your area.

Kat1112025 · 18/08/2021 15:41

They also have requirements for us as parents such as being trained on the Ng and doing resuss training.

Kirky658 · 18/08/2021 17:24

@kat112025 how's Eddie getting along? And your recovery?

It sounds similar to ours here, they've said she needs to be able to regulate her own temperature, be feeding well and be off the jaundice treatment. Well DH has been over this evening and basically kicked off to try and find out what's happening as we both think my BP is still high because I can't see my baby and bond with her....doesnt take a genius to work that out! They are now trying her in a normal cot to check her temperature regulation and if she does ok, they'll send her to be with me so I'm hoping our little fighter stays strong ❤️💪 xxx

FTEngineerM · 18/08/2021 17:25

Ok so I made a post natal one because I’m damn sure there’s still be things to talk about as we take on this new adventure, tagged you all anyway but here you go: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/postnatal_clubs/4326386-Babies-due-September-2021?watched=1

@Kirky658 I’m so sorry you’re still in ICU! I can’t even begin to imagine what it feels like to be separated like that❤️Are you able to FaceTime or anything when your partner is there so you can see her at least? You are not failing, at all, even if you didn’t pump anything you still aren’t failing. You just brought a whole human being that you created into the world, that’s huge.

AdventuresAwait · 18/08/2021 18:14

@Kirky658, you're doing amazing. Hoping Alice can be with you really soon xx

Squibble84 · 18/08/2021 19:00

I hope all the new babies are doing well!

@Kirky658 I’m keeping everything crossed that Alice will be in with you soon, hopefully she does well in a regular cot! It’s baffling how they think keeping you separate is going to help with your blood pressure! 🥺
