@JasVL oh wow, 20% could make an awful lot of difference when they are so small anyway. You'd hope, like you said that's just to cover themselves as I imagine it's really difficult to measure them

deedeebythesea · 16/08/2021 22:10

@Jay3004 the very best of luck! Hope all goes well and looking forward to reading an update from you whenever you are ready X

deedeebythesea · 16/08/2021 22:15

@Squibble84 Thank you! This is very reassuring. You are probably right - I have been experiencing backache since Saturday morning which is when I noticed a change in the position/movements. I will start doing the exercises and hopefully he will either go back to back-to-front position or turn during labour

CherLW · 16/08/2021 22:49

@GWhiteley I have a carry on wheelie suit case for me and my changing back pack for baby. I also need to take another small bag for snacks and I’m going to be taking my nursing pillow also! I feel like I’ll be moving in!!

I’ve packed 25 nappies as it was half the pack and enough clothes for 2 days just incase.

Scotti84 · 17/08/2021 07:29

Good luck @Jay3004! Thinking of you x

Kat1112025 · 17/08/2021 07:31

Good luck @Jay3004, hope everything goes well x

Kirky658 · 17/08/2021 07:40

Good luck today @jay3004 i know exactly how you feel, had x 2 steroid doises and she was delivered at 35 weeks. Stay calm, stay strong, and remember you're in very capable hands. Lots of love xxx

FTEngineerM · 17/08/2021 08:09

Good luck @Jay3004 you get to meet your baby soon 🥳, I hope all goes well.

Thanks ladies, I feel much better today, I got too caught up in DS1 being born at 41 weeks that I totally forgot that 37 is full term too. And our doctors are so fantastic earlier is also ok.

Have you been able to go and see Alice @Kirky658?

bewitchingnight · 17/08/2021 08:22

Good luck for today @Jay3004 !

MrsTD88 · 17/08/2021 09:28

Good luck @Jay3004 X

CherLW · 17/08/2021 09:58

Morning ladies, hope you’re all doing well ❤️

Just interested really - I’m 37+4 and I had a midwife appointment yesterday. My next appointment is the 1st September (39+5) unless he’s here already - that’s with a consultant and then I have an appointment on the 6th with my midwife! I thought I would see someone between now and the 1st 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Is anyone else seeing people more regular or am I just being silly?

AdventuresAwait · 17/08/2021 10:16

@CherLW, I'm 36+5 and saw my midwife yesterday. Was told I won't see them again and I don't have any more growth scans or consultant appointments before my c-section date. So I only have a pre-op appointment now! I was surprised being high risk due to GD. But they said I can call and go on if I want to.

SillyBry · 17/08/2021 10:20

I have my 38 week appointment next Friday and then I don't see anyone until I'm 41 weeks... which obviously I won't have if the baby comes before. I was due to see my midwife at 40 weeks for first baby, but she arrived so I didn't have to!

CherLW · 17/08/2021 10:20

@AdventuresAwait I feel it’s just strange.. I also feel I’m only worrying as a couple of people have said to me ‘is that it now’ regarding appointments. I thought we would have had another growth scan 🤷🏻‍♀️ Like my consultant appointment on the 1st I don’t even know what to expect! I feel like I just need to get to the 1st as I could have a baby by then and then see what’s happening 😊

D0nut · 17/08/2021 11:07

@CherLW I feel similar about my appointments. I’ve not had many anyway! But I’ve been waiting for a 36 week consultant appointment and have been told that’s when I’ll get my c section date. But I just checked my maternity app and the appointment is booked for 8th sept when I’ll be 37w5d. This seems so late to book my c section.

KHR1 · 17/08/2021 11:11

I've got my 38 week appointment with the midwife tomorrow then don't think I will see her again until 41 weeks. I do have a consultant appointment at 40 weeks though.

Think baby has gone back to back as i can't feel his back anymore. Bump is definitely more squishy!

SP2Bx · 17/08/2021 12:43

I've just had the usual... last midwife appointment was at 34 weeks, see her next week at 36wks, then at 38wks, then at 40 and again at 41 if still no baby. That's providing no need for a consultant to get involved between now and then, or that baby doesn't make a surprise appearance!

Thinking of you @Jay3004 !

CherLW · 17/08/2021 12:52

@D0nut that does seem late to plan a C section date! Hopefully they can give you one which suits you when you do go!

@KHR1 my tummy goes from
Squishy to harder in places, I don’t think he can make up his mind in there!!

AdventuresAwait · 17/08/2021 13:15

@CherLW, I know I expected another growth scan after 35 weeks. They just said they didn't need to see me again as they were happy. They said they'd do another if I wanted but clinic is every two weeks so would be this week but I'm away so we thought we would trust that they don't feel they need to see me!

FTEngineerM · 17/08/2021 13:43

I feel the same @CherLW last year I felt like I was having appointments for the fun of it this time I’m like… erm helllooo.. anyone there?

leftitlate37 · 17/08/2021 13:52

similar to you here @CherLW - 37 today and saw MW, then next booked for 2 weeks time.....eeek. seems so weird nothing between now and then but tbf, everything seems ok and chatted birth plan etc. getting bit panicked...anyone else got the fear of the unknown? Just no idea how ill handle it all or the pain :s MW is super chilled and blase and like oh youll be fine!
Good luck @Jay3004!!
Hope the others of you with babas here are getting on ok. @Kirky658 really hope u have managed to see Alice now and are doing ok and BP is coming down. Thinking of u all.

CherLW · 17/08/2021 14:00

@leftitlate37 I’m getting a bit worried about things. I know it’s going to be painful but it’s the unknown bits I’m struggling with. I might have to be induced as I have GD but as it’s controlled well they haven’t said anything like that yet.. so really i feel like it’s day by day.

Mamabearwhere · 17/08/2021 14:28

@CherLW my anxiety about labour is through the roof which is weird as the last two times I felt like I didn’t give labour much thought until I was in it. Like you say it’s the fear of the unknown and what could happen. I’m also terrified of the pain this time as my second birth was with zero pain relief and I remember it all too well. Trying really hard to think about all the happy moments after birth so that I distract myself from the actual event but it’s really hard.

My younger (20year old) sister asked me yesterday a genuine (albeit naive) question, whether it’s possible to give birth in your sleep and wake up with the baby in between your legs in bed. Made me LoL, can you imagine if it was that easy and painless.

CherLW · 17/08/2021 14:38

@Mamabearwhere Its definitely the unknown that worries me. Im hoping I’ll be able to have any pain relief I’ll feel I might need too.
I’ve been told to just keep telling myself that my body was designed to do this and how no one else can get this baby out but me ❤️
I really hope that when the time comes for you you’ll be able to relax a little more, just so hard isn’t it!!

Oh goodness imagine!! Just wake up and be ‘oh hello’ 😂. I know of someone who has had a baby recently and couldn’t make it into the hospital and was pretty much on the pavement outside!! I guess that’s one way of doing it! Would also be quick!

Tokyo87 · 17/08/2021 14:39

@leftitlate37 I'm the same, totally got the fear of the unknown re the labour. Just don't feel like I can imagine what it's going to be like at all. Haven't really thought about it up until the last few weeks, but feel like I need to take my head out of the sand now! Have booked a class this eve with the honest midwife to do the complex labour and birth workshop 😳 Have done the standard labour one, but have no real clue about all these other complications that can occur so decided i might feel better if I did.... we will see 😬!
