bewitchingnight · 13/08/2021 21:16

@Kirky658 so pleased things are moving in a more positive direction, such a lovely photo of Alice as well!

@Sillysocks998 congratulations! Hope you are resting up as best you can

@D0nut I've had some adventures in ketones this week - regular midwife doesn't dip for them (I don't know if that's the case everywhere) but they do at my hospital appointments (I have GD). Basically they asked whether I have any symptoms of an infection, whether I'd eaten that morning and whether I was dehydrated. Because of the GD they did a blood ketone test and mine was totally normal (urine was really high). It was because I was dehydrated. Hopefully the test on yours comes back fine but wanted to share to let you know it's not always something more sinister x

D0nut · 13/08/2021 21:24

Congratulations @Sillysocks998!!! These early babies… I’m definitely packing my bags this weekend!

@Kirky658 and @bewitchingnight thank you so much. These are the questions they asked me too. And I’m kicking myself for not asking them why they didn’t take blood but maybe that’s just fine if I’ve not previously had GD. This is so reassuring to know it can be normal. Thanks again ladies.

SP2Bx · 13/08/2021 21:35

Oh @Sillysocks998 congratulations! Take it easy 💙

And great news about Alice, @Kirky658 ❤️ the little tough cookie xx

CherLW · 13/08/2021 21:37

@Sillysocks998 congratulations!! I was just thinking of you on the GD thread!! So happy for you, take it easy x

Mamabearwhere · 13/08/2021 21:40

@Sillysocks998 aw wow congratulations!! It’s all starting to feel really real now with all these early babies Flowers my bags are packed and car seat sorted. Just need a heads down baby!

@Kirky658 great news about Alice and hope you’re resting up too.

Sceptre86 · 13/08/2021 21:53

@Sillysocks998 Congratulations on your little boy. Wishing you a speedy recovery. x

Sceptre86 · 13/08/2021 21:54

I was in for an iron infusion today as my levels are still not anywhere close to where they would like them to be for the birth. Are there any other mums to be with anaemia and if so how are you getting on?

Kat1112025 · 13/08/2021 22:01

@Sillysocks998 congratulations!

leftitlate37 · 13/08/2021 22:01

oh good grief! i have a couple of weeks off here and whats been happening?!
@Sillysocks998 @Kat1112025 and @Kirky658!! massive congrats to u all on the new additions to your families! what a time it sounds like you've all been having but gr8 the babas all seem to be strong little things and doing well!
@kirky658 - alice is a proper cutie, and what a gr8 name! sorry you'd had a tough time being plonked on antenatal ward, but glad you've managed to hold her whilst MW could feed her. Hope the c section recovery goes well. the pup will be looking forward to having you and new sister at home :)
as u others say, this might prompt some action - i better get my bag packed!!! did babies the other week then promptly unpacked it as had messed up the clothes and put wrong size in!
its all starting to feel v real isnt it?!
bump finally starting to show here, and the belly button popped out - feels like the baby wants to make a bid for freedom too - these rolls and kicks can be so damn strong at times!!

KHR1 · 13/08/2021 22:23

Congratulations @sillysocks998 hope you and baby are well!

I've finally finished packing and all the stuff is ready in DHs car, just incase!

deedeebythesea · 13/08/2021 22:25

@Sillysocks998 congratulations, mama! Take all the time you need to recover. I can only imagine how overwhelming it must have felt! Xx

@Sillysocks998 congratulations! I hope you are all doing ok!
@Kirky658 I felt like I aged 10 years in the first week of having my daughter… mainly as she was readmitted with jaundice and I had to keep fighting for help and mostly, for answers. When you are in hospital, you seem to be the last to know what’s happening with your care!! So I can’t imagine how stressful your situation is. All I can say is, take each day at a time, breathe and remember, it will pass!

You ladies have spurred me into action. I’ve packed a hospital bag! We have a weekend in wales - and we even packed the baby seat, just in case! I saw my midwife for my 36 week check yesterday before leaving and she was like “you really need to take your notes and write a birth plan!”
Feeling all very real now. Finish work next week… then it’s all go!

Rach921 · 14/08/2021 07:51

Congratulations @Sillysocks998 sending you all lots of love ❤️

marshmallowmode · 14/08/2021 08:05

Congratulations @Sillysocks998!

Gosh three babies in a week, and not even those due at the start of September!

Kirky658 · 14/08/2021 08:20

@sillybry honestly it has been the most stressful thing I've ever gone through. My BP is up again this morning, not surprised as I am anxious about what's happening today as Alice has been moved from NICU to the children's ward as they needed her bed space! Very fortunate that she's well enough but she's in a different part of the hospital now. I need some help with feeding so just need to try and hammer that home as I suspect they're trying to get me out to get my bed! Xx

KHR1 · 14/08/2021 10:18

@Kirky658 are you able to move to the children's ward with her? I know they'll have to make sure your BP is stable first, but usually they have pull out beds and being closer to her might help with the feeding/your milk coming in. It's not nice being separated from them at all

Kirky658 · 14/08/2021 17:17

@khr1 yep once I've been discharged I can go and stay there if I want to or DH and I can go and visit her whenever xx
