I will have the membrane sweep at the end of this month 😄

Will see how it works 😇🤗🥳🤣

Squibble84 · 07/08/2021 08:55

Welcome to the new joiners! @Poppins2016 I’m so uncomfortable at night now, last night I think I had hourly wake ups! I remember this from my last pregnancy and by the last couple of weeks, sleep just wasn’t happening for me so I’m hoping it’s not as bad this time! 🤞

ame88 · 07/08/2021 12:15

My trust won't even offer a sweep until your due date...it seems a veryyyy long way off! I just can't see how my bump can physically get any bigger at this stage!

FTEngineerM · 07/08/2021 12:43

Add me to the pelvic pain club 😟.
This morning it feels like there’s so much pressure and pain, maybe he’s moved down a bit?
Yesterday she said 3/5 engaged so defo in right direction.

Joey86 · 07/08/2021 12:47

@ame88 that used to be the guidelines here too. With DS2 I had three sweeps starting on my due date, and was booked in for induction at 40+12, thankfully he came at 40+11. That was 9yrs ago though!
My mw explained that they've since decided that for some ladies it's better for their physical and mental health to not have to wait, especially as they know baby is absolutely fine to be born from 38wks. When she told me this at my 36wk appointment I actually cried with relief, knowing that I didn't necessarily have to struggle for another 6wks! I already have fibromyalgia, and with the pgp on top it's been horrible, and I had pnd after DS2...so they want to get him born for my benefit. I can't wait to not be pregnant. I've also had HG in all three of my pregnancies too😅 I do not do well in pregnancy.

KHR1 · 07/08/2021 14:07

Didn't realise sweeps were offered before 40 weeks in some areas. Last time even at 41 weeks my cervix was so closed they couldn't do it though. Those of you who have had a sweep before, would you do it again? I've heard mixed opinions about it and don't know whether I want one or not!

Ready for baby to be out but it's DDs birthday 5 days before my due date so nervous they are going to overlap! Debating how much time I should actually be spending on the birthing ball before then 😂

Newmum110 · 07/08/2021 14:56

Is there any negatives to having a sweep? Obviously I know it's not guaranteed to work but are there any reasons it should be avoided?

bewitchingnight · 07/08/2021 15:14

Yes, period type pain here as well. I'm having a serious nesting day today, been cleaning, tidying, organising... now totally knackered!

Joey86 · 07/08/2021 15:19

I was already 2-3cm dilated when I had my first sweep at 40wks. Pretty sure it can't do any harm, it's not exactly comfortable, but I happily had three last time. My mw said it's not like they're forcing your body to do anything it's not ready to do, if you aren't ready then it won't do anything. But if you're almost ready, it can get things going.

@KHR1 it's my DS2's 9th birthday next week, and he's adamant he doesn't want to share his birthday 😅

FTEngineerM · 07/08/2021 15:53

I don’t think there are any negatives @Newmum110 just someone entering your uterus without any solid evidence that they work 😬🤷🏽‍♀️. Some have gone into labour that night and others it has no effect it’s not possible to say before hand which camp you’ll be in. I had mine whilst I was actually in labour, 4cm dilated, and it did nothing.

KHR1 · 07/08/2021 16:15

@joey86 hope he manages to keep his birthday to himself! Luckily DD is too young to have an opinion on sharing at the moment 😂 my friend at works two kids have birthdays in the same week and they'll have their 18th and 21st birthdays at the same time!

MrsTD88 · 07/08/2021 16:26

@KHR1 @joey86 my youngest sister and I were born 10 years apart. Her birthday is the day before mine, if she was born 12 minutes later we would share a birthday. It's nice having them close but I spent my 10th birthday with my gran and other sister while my mum and new sister were in hospital.

MrsTD88 · 07/08/2021 16:28

I had a sweep with my daughter about a week overdue, did absolutely nothing for me. Just felt uncomfortable afterwards 🙃

Newmum110 · 07/08/2021 18:46

@FTEngineerM good to know, thanks!!!!!

CherLW · 07/08/2021 19:36

Ladies, popped on to post about all this uncomfortable pain I’ve been having and it seems like lots of you are having similar!

I’m 36+1 today and I feel like I’m going to be worrying for the rest of the pregnancy that the baby is coming!! I’ve got some really uncomfy pain low down, I don’t think I’ve dropped yet as everything still feels high in my ribs and kicking/massive rolling movements are high and above my belly button.
Just need to relax more I think as I’ve been doing so much!

KHR1 · 07/08/2021 19:44

@MrsTD88 oh wow, 12 minutes was close!

@CherylLW with you on worrying baby is coming, thinking I need to finish my hospital bag off this evening just incase - baby will probably be late then 😂 I thought the pain might ba baby dropping but like you, still getting lots of movement uo high. At the moment it also feels like he's trying to claw his way out down low whilst kicking/bum shuffling up high

CherLW · 07/08/2021 20:14

@KHR1 there is always something to worry about isn’t there 🙈 I’ve got everything ready to go into the baby’s bag but I still need to sort a few things for mine! I’ve got bits round the house to sort too, I feel like I’m not ready and keep telling him to hold on!!
I feel like he’s having a dance off in there, head down and kicking my ribs too!

Kirky658 · 07/08/2021 20:23

We've been to a wedding today, was nice but not the same when you can't have a drink, feel fat and heavy and got tummy cramps! Glad to be home now with pj's on, watching masterchef. Oh the joys 😂

Mamabearwhere · 07/08/2021 20:57

@CherLW I’m with you on the pain and worry too. I am struggling to walk as with every step I get a sharp jab down there, I’m pretty sure baby has dropped because all movements are super low and never above belly button. I’m 34+1 and have a strong feeling he’ll be here in August rather than my mid September due date. My hospital bag and baby car seat is in the car now because I’m so nervous he’s coming soon!

CherLW · 07/08/2021 21:01

@Mamabearwhere I keep being told ‘oh first babies are always late’ but they really aren’t! I can’t really walk that far without the intense feeling of pressure down there!
It’s my last day of work tomorrow before some annual leave and then maternity leave!! Things like getting the car seat in and finally finishing my bag are first on the list of things to do!

Kirky658 · 08/08/2021 09:16

@mamabearwhere I'm the same as you, EDD is 15/09 but I've got a feeling she will be here this month. I'm the same with every step I feel this pressure down below it is vile. Swimming this morning, the only thing that seems to help atm!
@cherlw my last week at work this week, can't wait to finish on Friday, had last week off but struggling to care about catching up 😂 we've had our car seat in the car for a while now, it still freaks me out lol

Scotti84 · 08/08/2021 09:42

@Kirky658 I feel the same, I've only got three weeks to go but I just have the feeling she'll be here sooner. The more I thought I might have to have a c section, the more i realised how different the whole experience would be, I'd much prefer nature to do its thing and for her to come on her own so if that means a bit early that's fine. The Dr had also said he thinks she will make an appearance earlier too.

She's not engaged yet, but the pain is ramping up, in my hips and legs on a night, and back ache and period pains through the day. Still not sure if it's BHs or just aches though.

Noodles4Me · 08/08/2021 10:27

I don't know if my boy is engaged as he had been head down since week 16. His knees are under my belly button coz if he carries on wiggling he will pop it out (I have an irrational dislike of belly buttons so terrified of this).

I'm just only comfortable now if I lie down which doesn't get a lot done really. But, less than 2 weeks now so I'll just put up and (sort of) shut up

Bubbles1st · 08/08/2021 12:19

Ladies.... had an incredible pregnancy massage and reiki session this morning, highly recommended if you can afford to treat yourself, perfect start to lazy and chilled Sunday before a couple of days being busy with last minute bits!

Wow @Bubbles1st that sounds wonderful. I have a spa day and mama to be massage booked on Wednesday. I'm incredibly ticklish though so hope I don't just tense up during the massage !
