Has anyone else had period like pains? Had a dull ache down below all morning

Mamabearwhere · 06/08/2021 13:34

@KHR1 I had some period cramps and period like back pain last night in bed. Made me feel a bit anxious but has gone today. Baby has def dropped a lot lower the last few days as all my movements are below the belly button so I wonder if things are getting close!

Bubbles1st · 06/08/2021 13:37

@FTEngineerM thanks for asking, he definitely isn't being as active as he was up until a week ago but he is a little bit more active than he has been the last 24 hours, back tomorrow morning for monitoring so nice to feel him today to get me through

SP2Bx · 06/08/2021 13:57

@KHR1 I seem to be getting period like pins all the time at the moment... not in a regular pattern or anything like that, just back ache and period-like cramps at random times... very uncomfortable!

Scotti84 · 06/08/2021 14:09

@KHR1 yep me too, off and on but deffo achey and in my back. Not very comfortable but bearable, better than the hip pain at night!

@FTEngineerM absolutely, had myself so worked up about what i should do, to know theyre ok to wait to see if she comes naturally and are much more relaxed than my gp is such a relief, and this consultant has been head of the dept since 2012 so i reckon he's delivered enough babies to know whats what. Bit weird but i like my doctors like i like my pilots, few grey hairs, over 45, enough experience under their belt to have seen a few things and know how to react. Maybe i should see someone... 😅

KHR1 · 06/08/2021 14:27

Thanks @Mamabearwhere @SP2Bx @Scotti84 glad to know I'm not alone! Do you find they are like little waves or just consistent for a little while then go away? I remember in labour last time they were like short cramps but this time it's just there.

Scotti84 · 06/08/2021 15:24

@KHR1 mine are consistent and then go. I did think maybe it was Braxton Hicks, but I'm not sure, its my first baby so am clueless with this stuff, everyone tells me that when real contractions start I will know...

Geegee20 · 06/08/2021 17:01

@KHR1@Scotti84 I have been like this the past week, I woke up mother morning with shooting pains in me grions and back ache I thought oh please stay in a few more weeks, I had a growth scan last week and a scan to check my placenta had moved that moved and hes.moved right in me pelvis his head is near enough touching me cervix 😫, I am 33+2 so am hoping he stays put an.other few more weeks at least, but I suppose they come when there ready am just not ready yet, waiting on me key for new home 🙈

KHR1 · 06/08/2021 17:22

@Geegee20 hope he stays put a while longer for you!

@Scotti84 I still feel pretty clueless even though its baby number two 😂 the pain I've had feels different to braxton hicks, when I get those it seems to just get really tight over the whole bump

Geegee20 · 06/08/2021 17:24

@KHR1. Me to 🙈

Krista1991 · 06/08/2021 17:56

Is anyone having a membrane sweep at 38 weeks ?

🤔

Clouless · 06/08/2021 17:57

Hi everyone. Turns out my baby is currently breech with its legs over its face 🙈 midwife yesterday told me it was one fifth engaged but clearly mistook a bum for a head! Had a growth scan today and the sonographer told me. Makes me wonder what would happen without the scan? Would they just assume baby was in the correct position? But worrying. Hope everyone else is doing okay. I can't believe babies are going to start arriving soon!

Geegee20 · 06/08/2021 18:12

@Krista1991 do they do them at 38 weeks?

ame88 · 06/08/2021 18:44

Hi ladies would you mind if I joined?? I didn't realise this existed! Im due a little girl on the 28th Aug but knowing my luck will probably be late!!

Jay3004 · 06/08/2021 19:20

@Clouless the same happened to me! I was sure he was breech as was feeling all my kicks low down but midwife said he was head down. When I went for a scan they confirmed he was breech with his legs over his face and it was his bum that the midwife had been feeling 🙈

Poppins2016 · 06/08/2021 20:51

@KHR1

Has anyone else had period like pains? Had a dull ache down below all morning
Your question is actually the main reason I've come to post on here this evening!

I've had twingey period pain like feelings over the last few days (I'm 36 weeks now)... they're not at all like contractions, just general discomfort... I think baby must be starting to engage (and if that'a not the case, I'm really dreading when it does happen)!

I certainly don't remember feeling this level of discomfort with my first, I guess it's true that every pregnancy is different... I'm actually now measuring larger (fundal height and waist measurement) than I did at 41+4 with my first!

Poppins2016 · 06/08/2021 20:57

Just remembered I have one more reason for posting...

Is anyone finding it difficult to get comfortable during the night/waking up in a lot of discomfort? I keep waking up feeling sore, as though I've been punched in the stomach, possibly because my bump/muscles aren't very well supported as I'm sleeping? Can anyone recommend a solution?!
I'm using a V shaped pillow under my bump and in between my legs, then added more pillows last night, but this doesnt seem to be working particularly well (this method worked fine last pregnancy but I guess my body is feeling the strain more with it being my second)?!

SP2Bx · 06/08/2021 20:57

No @KHR1 no waves, just constant ache/pain for a period of time.. and no tightening over the bump either, it's like across my back and low down under my bump really.

@Clouless I've heard this about midwives mistaking the bum for the head right up until birth and then it's a surprise breech baby!!! But to be honest it amazes me how they can know baby's position just from feeling so I guess its only human for them not to be right all the time...!

AdventuresAwait · 06/08/2021 21:09

@Poppins2016, yes to feeling uncomfortable in the night. I also use a pregnancy pillow and don't have a solution but wanted to say that I'm definitely experiencing this. It really is a feeling as though I've been punched in my bump, especially when I try to turn over. First baby for me but I also wondered if it is because my muscles relax at night and the weight isn't as supported but I really don't know.
Would love to hear of any solutions xx

KHR1 · 06/08/2021 21:53

@poppins2016 baby engaging would make sense with the pain, just hope if that is the case it's not going to last the next few weeks until baby arrives

@SP2Bx that sounds really similar although I haven't had any pains in my back, just low under my bump and then my pelvis has been really sore

Welcome @ame88

Joey86 · 06/08/2021 23:53

Hi, I just discovered this board a few days ago. I'm due 2nd Sept with my 3rd.
@Krista1991 I'm having a membrane sweep at 38wks, and booked in for induction at 39wks if need be. Due to being in so much pain and discomfort, I'm using crutches every day. Also, I'm worried about going past my due date as DS2 was 40+11 and had menconium aspiration and needed antibiotics in NICU for 5days. DS1 was 39+2, had menconium but it was fresh and didn't cause any issues.
I'm hoping a sweep or two will be all I need, and I can avoid induction. My others were spontaneous and quick, so let's hope so.

AdventuresAwait · 07/08/2021 07:19

Welcome @Joey86! Hoping you can avoid the induction and have a good couple of weeks before your sweep xx

Welcome @ame88! Is this your first baby? xx

FTEngineerM · 07/08/2021 07:36

@Krista1991 😬 no, those things are nothing short of foul.

@Scotti84 I’ve never heard that but it made me laugh😂! Experience is definitely reassuring

Kirky658 · 07/08/2021 08:27

I am so glad to see you all posting about period type pains - that's what I've come on to post about this morning! I've been feeling rotten for a couple of days now, sick, tired, headachy and back and stomach cramps. Feeling very fed up now!

ame88 · 07/08/2021 08:38

Yep FTM here! I'm excited but it's such a weird feeling not knowing when she is coming or how! Someone actually asked me what type of labour j was going to have yesterday....erm I don't know 😂
