Sorry girls with being on holiday this week only just catching up, DH and mine 2nd wedding anniversary today so we've been to the zoo and off for dinner tonight 😂

@bubbles1st I'm so so glad you went and got checked out. I've had a couple of occasions where shes not been as lively and I've managed to kick start her by a cold drink and poking my tummy but it is scary. Our MAU is always full so I feel you there.

Hope everyone else is doing OK? I'm 34 weeks today and just got this feeling she will be coming in about 3 weeks... Don't know why i just do! She's deffo moving further down now, bump is much lower and hurting my back. Struggled to make it round the zoo today.

SillyBry · 04/08/2021 16:33

@Kirky658 hope you had a lovely holiday! And happy wedding anniversary!

I must be growing as suddenly all my maternity clothes feel a bit snug... I seem to be pulling the t-shirts down and the jeans up constantly! But I just went on Jojo and got some tunic dresses in the sale. I feel daft buying new maternity clothes at 35 weeks, but they are nursing friendly, so I'm telling myself I'll use them in the early weeks/months when my tummy is still wuite big and I'm nursing round the clock!
Plus, they were £18ish, so I thought stuff it, I'm going to treat myself!

AdventuresAwait · 04/08/2021 16:54

Thank you @KHR1 and @Sophieandtiger! That's good to know xx

AdventuresAwait · 04/08/2021 16:56

I've got some of those dresses @SillyBry! I love them (live in them) & it's great that they're for nursing too xx

2021mumma · 04/08/2021 17:27

@Noodles4Me thank you- I think you are right I will have to wait till week39 will update on how the appointment goes in the morning

KHR1 · 04/08/2021 18:16

@sophieandtiger definitely feel like I spend more time feeling movements than I don't if tthat makes sense? With DC1 she seemed to have 3-4 active times a day whereas this baby is full of beans! As uncomfortable as it can be, I prefer it this way though as the one time I had reduced movements it was so much more obvious.

Happy wedding anniversary @Kirky658!

Had my 36 week growth scan today and I'm a little nervous that baby is measuring at 7lb 4oz already! I know the measurements aren't always accurate so hoping they have overestimated his size...

Sophieandtiger · 04/08/2021 19:15

@KHR1 you are right it is nice as it is easier to spot a change. I wonder if it's partly because it's the second, I also have diastasis recti from my first and it feels like the baby is right there under my skin and I can feel every tiny little movement. I started feeling them really early on and it hasn't stopped since! I'm bracing myself for an active child, my first has always been super relaxed and quiet!!

KHR1 · 04/08/2021 19:24

@sophieandtiger never thought about them being more active once they were born!

Squibble84 · 04/08/2021 20:04

I feel the baby move all day long! It’s a little quieter at night but I definitely feel so much more movement than my last baby whom I barely ever felt and ended up being induced with as I was in weekly (daily by the end) for reduced movement.

However she is now making up for being and a little snoozer in the womb and is a proper live wire, she is the opposite of chilled out and is a VERY excitable and loud toddler! 😅 I’m really hoping that this one is wearing themselves out in my belly and will be slightly more chilled than DD! 🥴

CherLW · 04/08/2021 20:40

Finally coming together!! I don’t have a nursery so making this area of my room all lovely for his arrival… pics on the wall and rug to come! Next step filling those drawers!!

September 2021 Babies - Thread 8 The final stretch....
deedeebythesea · 04/08/2021 21:42

Girls please tell me I am not the only one who is so fed up with being asked “so when are you due?/so how much longer have you got left?” that they are about to combust?! I just can’t take it anymore. At work, in a local park where I take my dogs daily and see same people day in day out, neighbours... Especially at work. I manage a team of 20 people, a lot of whom are also quite new. At least three times a day I hear something along the lines of “you really should be taking it easy. when is it that you are leaving again?” I just want to scream. Today, I was this close to saying to one of them that she was fired. Can’t take the patronising tone/being a public property anyone. I take my work very seriously and it is incredibly demoralising to be treated this way.
SORRY! Rant over.

Suma2021 · 04/08/2021 22:12

@deedeebythesea Not just you! Today in B&Q the lady at the checkout: "How long have you got left? Do you know what you're having?" Then proceeded to go on and on about her daughter who's also pregnant- I just wanted to pay for my things and get out of there. Then on the way home got asked exactly the same questions by another stranger in a corner shop who then went on about some other pregnancy related topic...

I know people are just trying to be friendly, and sometimes it is sweet but I don't like how it seems to be acceptable to comment willy nilly to a stranger when they're just trying to mind their own business!

And I've got quite a way to go still! Grin

D0nut · 04/08/2021 22:29

Looks lovely @CherLW! We don’t have a nursery either so I have a similar plan. Just got to do it!

CherLW · 04/08/2021 22:35

Thanks @D0nut 😊 it was hard to get started but once I finally chose a few things and ordered etc I found myself enjoying it!

deedeebythesea · 04/08/2021 22:48

@Suma2021 Totally agree. I do get it - most of the time people are just trying to be nice. But it almost seems like they think they are the first person to ask you these questions.

What irritates me most is that (so far) I have enjoyed a very blissful pregnancy. No aches, no complaints, no real issues. But everyone is waiting for me to say how tired I am or how difficult it has been. I can imagine it’s the same when it comes to talking about birth. They want a horror story and when you tell them you did it peacefully, at home and really enjoyed it, they are disappointed.

As you say, just want to mind my own business. Pregnancy has been one of the happiest and most exciting things that have ever happened to me but it doesn’t define me. I am still me. Doing my own thing. But not in the eyes of everyone around me (mind you my friends and fam have been great, they treat me no different).

Bubbles1st · 05/08/2021 09:04

@deedeebythesea yes I feel like that especially some of my customers. When they ask how I am and say oh I bet the heat was awful for you and I'm like not really think everyone was struggling a bit and I doing fine, it's like disappointing to them that all is good.

I mean the last week is a bit of game changer since hitting 34 weeks but I feel I did well to last until then feeling so good!

Kat1112025 · 05/08/2021 09:16

I've had a few people say "you're looking really well". It's the perfect compliment, completely ambiguous 😁 .

Anyone that says anything along the lines of: "wow, ready to pop" or "you must have ages left" gets an angry frown. Or the usual what's the sex, how are you feeling, what's the due date? It's just all a bit tedious.

Kat1112025 · 05/08/2021 09:20

Also, so many people have told me their birth stories, good and bad.

It's getting a bit ridiculous at this point. I will explicitly say that I don't want to talk about that until I've done it, they'll then just launch into it as if they didn't hear me.

I might get some little signs printed "I don't want to hear about your vagina"

FTEngineerM · 05/08/2021 10:32

The unwarranted advice doesn’t stop when you give birth @Kat1112025 it.. just.. gets.. worse 😂

Jary6 · 05/08/2021 10:40

I found that after my daughter everyone told me their birthing stories which to be honest I would have rather heard before I went into labour. I went into labour with my first and had no idea what it would be like and was induced on a drip which I didn't have a pleasant experience with.

With this one I'm grateful to know what I'm walking into and hoping it can only be better, I hope.

@Squibble84 I think we had a similar experience and also I think you may have been in the Mumsnet group I was in when I had my first who was born in October 2019.

Kirky658 · 05/08/2021 10:57

Had a bit of a scare last night. We DTD as it was our anniversary, then I got up to go to the loo and my undies were wet. Was dead concerned it was my waters going, so just put a pad on. Nothing since, baby movement etc all fine so assume it was just ahem 'fluids' 🙈

Kat1112025 · 05/08/2021 11:01

@Jary6, I agree it's good to know the different ways it can go. I find it very helpful talking to friends and family about their experiences, and the ladies on here.

It is a little odd when Janet from payroll feels the need to come and tell me about how they stitched up her vagina wonky 🤣

Catkin7 · 05/08/2021 11:42

Had my growth scan this morning 34+6. It was so nice to see her again, weighing 5lb 7oz and she’s growing perfectly just under the 50th centile. Very relieved knowing she’s in the right position for birth and is happy and healthy. I was so nervous going in! We are all so close now!

Personally love hearing birth stories, but maybe I’m just nosey 😂

SillyBry · 05/08/2021 12:55

I’m not too bothered by the questions - I think I switch off from it a bit! But I find everyone’s concern for me a bit grating.
I went into the office on Tuesday to clear my desk… and was told to get down off a two step stool as it was “too dangerous”!! I laughed and said I’d been riding a 168cm tall horse until 2 weeks ago, I think a small stool is ok!
And likewise, when people hear I’m running, they do like to give me their opinions on whether I should be/if it’s safe/why I shouldn’t be doing it.
I usually smile nicely and say that medically it’s fine and I’ll listen to my body to know when to stop. Why I’d listen to Karen who has never exercised and has no medical expertise whatsoever is anyone’s guess!
It gets worse when you have the baby I’m afraid!
