Membrane Sweep

M24L · 28/07/2021 17:54

Currently 40 +2 and had my membrane sweep today. Looking at being induced this weekend if I haven't gone before then which I don't want I really want to be able to go myself 😓

Whats everyone's sweep stories? When did you get your sweep, was it successful and if so how soon after did you feel anything/when did labour start etc?

@M24L Ahhh yeah that makes sense then I guess, guess they have to monitor you and baby more closely if they manually break your waters as well!

Is DH able to come into the MLU you with you when you're in labour as obviously you'll have your own room wont you? Keeping everything crossed for you now! Hopefully the BH are a sign of what's to come!!! So excited for you and soooooo jealous I wish I was holding my baba in my arms right now 😭 I seriously don't know how I'm going to get through the next 8 weeks lol. Xxx

M24L · 07/08/2021 01:45

@MyGrassIsBrowner yeah so it's a bit of a pain lol.

See tbh I'm not actually sure 🙈 I just assumed it was the same as the labour ward ill have to ask next time MW comes around.

I'm in a room surrounded by new babies and it's making me soo jealous lol. I hope your 8 weeks fly in for you Mrs and it'll be your turn before you know it 💞 xxx

@M24L I'm just making assumptions here lol dont mind me! The MLU at the hospital I gave birth to my DD in was separate to the labour ward but attached by a corridor so if you needed to be wheeled through it was nice and easy. We were so lucky as it was an amazing room, I'll have to send a pic of it! Mood lighting, bluetooth speakers the lot!

My new hospital is quite run down overall and I've been on the maternity ward a couple of times and yeah, it's not great so I dont fancy staying longer than necessary after my section, but then again that might be a bit harsh as the midwives seem pretty nice what I've met so far. They've only got one natural birthing room with a pool in there so if you go in and it's taken you're screwed.

Have they decided what they are doing with you yet? They certainly like to keep you waiting don't they! 😢 xxx

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/08/2021 02:09

That was our room! (My DP there getting the bed ready for me like the love he is 😆) bless him.

He did make me lol when we initially walked in, he had no idea the rooms were that nice and he said something along the lines of, jesus christ are we gonna get billed for this?! 🤣

M24L · 07/08/2021 02:21

@MyGrassIsBrowner omg how stunning is that room it's like something out of a hotel. I'd give birth all the time if I got to do it in a room like that haha!

I was labour ward with DD1 as she was an induction also so haven't seen the CMU in here yet, I hope it's similar to your picture or I'm going to be very upset 🤣🤣.

No one has came back to see me yet although a trip to the loo there and I've realised I've had my "bloody show" so that's a good sign. I might very well get to go on my own, just need the waters to break 🤞🤞.

Haha my DH would have been the same he would have thought his luck was in and we had booked the honeymoon suit 🤣🤣🤣 xx

Morning guys, @M24L I meant to come and wish you luck yest but had my sisters visit then my oldest DS came over and we popped out for dinner. Yes we actually left the house woohoooooo. My oldest DS is 20 bless him 'if the baby is here why are you still so fat' ahh got to love comments like that along with the amazing hugely swollen feet I have which means no shoes fit other than flip flops haha. Such a treat.

@M24L well done on the progress!! I hope things are moving along quickly or that you've managed to get some rest ready for an eventful day!!!

@MyGrassIsBrowner omg look at that stunning hospital! My high risk room had a birth pool but was broken, even the window was broken lol. Bless you DH I hope he had a great last day. Fully entitled to the tears you are growing a human!!!! The pelvic pain can be immense I was over being pregnant by about week 28 everything was hard work the pain not having any clothes that fit etc cry away.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/08/2021 06:34

@M24L lmfao honeymoon suite is a good way of describing it. I fully LOL'd at that! 🙈
Amazing news about your bloody show, usually means labour is gonna be imminent! 🤞
Hope you're giving us some new baby news this morning! I dont think I can take it anymore!! 🤪
It was such a lush room ladies but sadly not gonna be privvy to that this time, to be fair though yeah it was a nice room and all, but that room gave me a prolapse and piles.. so I'll never truly look back at it with fond memories 😆

@Vie8126 Aww thanks hunnie. It's been an emotional rollercoaster for him and he shocked me by crying as I've only ever seen him cry once, and that wasn't when his DD was born either 🤣 poor sod should have seen the pair of us last night, haha!
Yeah it's safe to say I'm crying at everything at the moment. Feel absolutely bloody huge and wondering how the hell I'm going to make it to the 4th of October before I dont try and scoop her out myself 🤣
How are you doing lovely?

Xxx

Vie8126 · 07/08/2021 07:08

@MyGrassIsBrowner aww well you obvs both needed it sometimes a good cry then you're good to face the world again!? My DP was ribbing me for not crying when the baby was born was like I was jusy glad the pain had stopped hun I was crying inside 💁‍♀️

I think that's the worst feeling honestly I was feeling the same I couldn't put my shoes on coukdnt bend down sleeping was agony couldn't walk survived on ice cream and ice lollies and cans of coke (now not quite so surprised about how much pp weight I have to loose haha) snapped at everyone jusy generally struggled. People comments ooh that's a big baby ooh you won't have long to go met with a grimace as I explained I actually had 10 or 8 weeks to go... Hell. October be here before you know it summer holidays are nearly half way done and September flies by then boom you'll be holding your baby!!!!

I'm all good ta Mrs, boobs are amazing looking think 80s porn star look rock hard not moving! Think it confused little man last night as I was trying to settle him for ages and he just kept feeding every 2 hrs falling asleep on the bottle then waking up and wanting more he was rooting around on my chest. Always makes me feel guilty for not breast feeding that does. We purchased a sleepyhead well puriflo alternative as he was rattling around his bedside sleeper and was more settled in the cosy pram environment I was dubious but got a good deal (half price) DP was doubly curious when it turned up (I didn't know it was a fancy rubber ring ffs Vie 😂) well after eventually getting him down at 11 he slept to 4.30 had a bottle and went straight back down his just stirring now. Well worth the money!!!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/08/2021 09:44

@Vie8126 I didn't cry after giving birth either, I was actually shell shocked and it took me a while to come round 😆 the room ended up like a murder scene when the midwife pulled my placenta out and trailed blood around the room and I was honestly just in a state of absolute shock.

This is it, hate peoples shitty comments re size of bump. Wish people would just keep their mouth shut. I'm a SAHM at the moment and thanks to Covid I haven't seen many people this time so so far had no shitty comments and I'd like to keep it that way lol.

Absolutely mental when you wake up on like the 3rd/4th day PP and your tits are literally under your chin. I remember DP being like... JEEEEEESUS 🤪
My new bra size atm is a 38HH though so I'm deffo gonna be carrying the Pammy vibes myself when the milk comes in. I'm just wondering how different it's gonna be with me having a section this time. I wanna give her the good stuff but think she'll be put onto formula as I had a pretty crap experience breast feeding my DD and tbh for me it just didn't feel right.

Ooooh I'm going to look at those nests actually!! I had a snuzpod 3 but tbh I sold it in the end and DD didn't really like it as a baby. I'm gonna co-sleep with her to begin with so one of those nests would be a good shout! Sounds like you had a fairly pleasant evening with little man!!! Xxx

Vie8126 · 07/08/2021 10:08

@MyGrassIsBrowner this is it they thought the cord had snapped off the placenta was losing blood and they had to call the Dr for a manual removal so he went elbow deep to get placenta out oh and then the midwife had a finger up my bum checking for tears.. Yeah sorry DP I didn't cry was a bit busy 😂

Just hide away from everyone lol. I work in a school office so had hundreds of parents ooh not long for you, ooh sure there's only one, ouch your having a big baby, oh you still here thought you be gone by now.... Yawn people yawn!!!

Have a Google around puriflo I got it from one site for 60.00 in the end (and then clear paid it LOL)

Oh god yes, I don't even know what size they are I had implants after my first 3 dc so already had a dd/e cup size. Haha my DP was the same Ohhhmyyygooddddd and I'm like DONT TOUCH ME!!! I had a section with my first DS and I struggled with breastfeeding for 4 days (not because of the section other issues flat nipples etc) I was in hospital for 5 days and felt forced into it one nice midwife came round one night and said would you like to give him a bottle as I cried my eyes out (was a young naive 19 year old) gave him a bottle and thats been it since then for each DC. Do you have a v pillow might be good for feeding after a section as could put around you and rest baby ON? Fed is best so however you choose has to be right for you and the family. We're keeping it to just me and DP to give bottles.

I hope M24L is close to newborn cuddles and her DP made it!!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/08/2021 10:24

@Vie8126 Oh my lord that sounds horrific. Although at one point I had 4 midwives all looking at my fanjo checking out my midwives handy work asking each other if they thought it looked good and 'should I put another stitch there do you think?' My poor DP was like SAY WHAT?! 🤣 I ended up with 2nd degree internal tear and a graze on my labia (which actually was more painful than the tear) and I do vividly remember the MW holding the placenta up with both hands after she'd examined it asking me "do you want to take it home" yeah love put it on ice for me I'll go get me cool box out me car when you discharge me! LMFAO.

I've already racked up 1.5k on paypal credit we're trying to pay off if I used clearpay DP would kill me but it is very tempting 😏
We've got an appointment tomorrow at a pram place so gonna go take some for a spin that I've got my eye on!

Oh bless you, breast feeding is hard and my DD lost so much weight in that first week, I caved and gave her 4oz and she absolutely wolfed it so I obviously wasnt giving her enough, I remember her sleeping through for hours after that so I was like yeah breast feeding can do one now. Thankfully I had an easy let down and didnt suffer from mastitits or anything so obviously hadn't established my supply enough.

Deffo gonna look at a nursing pillow though to take to the hospital you've just reminded me!!

Arghh I hope everything is going good for her, been thinking about her all morning!

Vie8126 · 07/08/2021 10:30

@MyGrassIsBrowner oh the dignity of childbirth it's all so tres chic isn't it 😂 ouch to the graze they sting like a mofo!! Hahaha oh yeah I'll just pop that in my bag home hun cheers for that 😂

Ooh I know me too, sounds weird and stalker ish but I thought of her first thing this morning!!!

Oooh niceee what you got your eye on? I had an appointment in lockdown for a pram shop and then went completely rogue and saw someone out pushing a pram was like oh that's nice what is it and went home and ordered it 😂 (another clear pay job so feel your PayPal credit account!) DP kept saying are you sure this is the one you want and you don't want the pram shop appointment. Tbf I haven't even been out with it just yet but he likes laying in the lounge in it and keeps him up out the way of the dog 😂

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/08/2021 10:47

@Vie8126 Oh isn't it just. Honestly I had a shower whilst I was there and when I got home I still had dried blood everywhere I genuinely looked like I'd been beaten up. My recovery was so hard and I couldn't sit properly for months without wincing. I'm hoping with this section I'll at least be able to sit down properly and all being well wont cause any further damage downstairs. Absolutely petrified of the prospect of needing corrective surgery in the future all because my pelvic floor failed me 🤦🏻‍♀️

So did I haha, I'm so excited it's what is keeping me going atm as I'll be in your shoes soon!

What pram do you have? Well when we had DD I begged DP for the stokke xplory v6, we bought it, my DP nearly cried parting with over a grand like 😆 anyway after a few months realised I bloody hated it and it was too top heavy. Yeah they look great but functionality wise they are shite.
I wanna try the Bugaboo Cam 3, the fox 2 and the bee! Then I also want to try the icandy orange as well. But tbh we've an hour slot so I'm gonna try as many as I can 🤣 poor DP will just be stood there like yeah... it's lovely 🤨 to him they all look the same 🤣
We've got a big daft greyhound and my god the poor lad puts up with some shit. My DD loves him though and he's so chill around her. Even when getting various toys lobbed at him. His world is gonna be turned upside down when another screaming brat comes into the house, poor fella 😆

M24L · 07/08/2021 11:41

@Vie8126 @MyGrassIsBrowner hey ladies, so after all going well lastnight and me not having to be induced babys heartbeat dropped dramatically so I was moved down to the labour ward at 7am, not long had my waters broken so Currently waiting on contractions starting before having to be put on the drip.

Thankfully babys heartbeat has been fine since but they are closely monitoring her so no water birth for me but I'll be the proud mumma of 2 at some point today 🤞😁

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/08/2021 13:26

@M24L oh lovely I'm so sorry you cant have your waterbirth but the fact that you're gonna have bubs in your arms today is amaaaaazing! Good luck chick!! ❤

Vie8126 · 07/08/2021 15:19

@M24L sorry you can't have your water birth but you will be holding your bubba so soon!!!! Sending lots of love & strength you got this 🙏💪💪 xxx

@MyGrassIsBrowner I got the ickle bubba Aston rose I wanted the egg2 DP didn't question too much once he saw the price point differential! I had a bugaboo frog (13 years ago lol) with my DD I lovedddd it!!!! We found out last night that it's quite heavy to get in and out the car.

You'll be fine after your section I promise esp as it's planned it will be nice and chilled you know the date you can prep they don't keep you in long now either. Just make sure you have huge sexy knickers to cover the scar the bigger up your tummy the better! Or I found some light support knickers really helped (going back to my emsc 21 years ago lol might be outdated advise!) just help me feel like everything was held in!

Awww he sounds adorable. We have a 2 year old mini dachshund with a big dog attitude problem! We keep saying he won't be quite as eager to be around baby when he is terrorising the dog around 18 months time LOL. Trying to find the balance of attention for him so he doesn't feel too pushed out he was my baby and shadow and as I haven't been too mobile I've had to keep away from him a little bit as his so tiny and runs around my feet!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 07/08/2021 16:21

@Vie8126 Oooh the Aston Rose is so pretty! That was the issue we had with the Stokke Xplory, it weighed an absolute tonne!!! And trying to get that into the boot with dog in tow was just not working 😆

I'll bare all that in mind about the knickers haha! Hoping it'll be all nice and chilled. My consultant is lovely as well he's like a 60 odd year old German man and you just know he's delivered probably thousands of babies 🙈

Awww I love Dachshunds they're soooo cute! But yeah small dog syndrome 😆 Marlon isnt too phased by really small dogs but we can't let him off his lead as his recall is shit and he's take himself on a trip round the world haha!

Aww I hope @M24L is getting on well now! So excited for news!!!

M24L · 07/08/2021 21:57

@Vie8126 @MyGrassIsBrowner hello ladies so baby was born at 17:52 weighing a heafty 9lb 14oz. I am absolutely in awe of how perfect she is and mummy here done it with only gas and air half way through my labour💃 might not have gotten my water birth but everything else came together in the end. I am on cloud nine

@MyGrassIsBrowner good luck with the pram shopping!!! Oh god yeh our dogs recall is appalling he got out the front and there was me 9 months pregnant and DP running round the street trying to call him back like a comedy sketch scene.
