Membrane Sweep

Currently 40 +2 and had my membrane sweep today. Looking at being induced this weekend if I haven't gone before then which I don't want I really want to be able to go myself 😓

Whats everyone's sweep stories? When did you get your sweep, was it successful and if so how soon after did you feel anything/when did labour start etc?

@Mumoftwo2021 oh I never thought of checking ebay either, good idea! I know I get excited when I see there's new comments on here wondering who's got to meet their little bundle of joy next 💞 fingers crossed they are well behaved after having us all waiting haha! My babys a right mover in the womb shes constant lol so I've already practically prepared myself for hardly any sleep if her sleeping pattern at the moment is anything to go by 🤣🤣.

Oh love I know exactly where your coming from I'm the same with DH I'm constantly like "ohh I've got cramping" "ohh the pains are getting sore" then he's calling from work on his break like are you OK how's things now and I'm back to "absolutely fine bo signs of baby coming" 🤣🤣 he must be like are you at it.

Its so baffling how they have you waiting so long, and I'm so gutted for you that your waters haven't gone naturally. Have you tried a hot (warm) bath?

@Vie8126 I've been having a relaxing day spent in bed so far and when getting up to go to the loo the sharp shooting pains of her head pushing down is unreal, makes me a bit scared for labour lol. Once I'm up and moving the pains not as bad but it's the initial getting up, I have to stand in the same place for a few moments to let my body adjust to the uncomfortable. They have given me to Friday night to go on my own so I'm praying my waters go anytime before then 🙌

I remember the fear of going to the loo after having DD1 and that was 8 years ago lol, so not looking forward to that again although I've seen a trick about putting sanitary towels in the freezer and then wearing them so I will be trying that this time around haha!

It doesn't seem as if DTD has done anything yet but I suppose time will tell, DH goes to bed at the same time as DD so it's a morning thing for us haha I think he will be glad once babys here and he doesn't need to wake up to me at 4 am before he's even opened his eyes I'm like time to help get the baby out 🤣🤣

The days will just fly by now, are you and baby home and settled? Enjoy every moment of it 💙 I'm so jealous your babys arrived lol xx

@M24L I'm not being pushed for a decision thankfully. My section is booked in and they've basically said I could change my mind up until the day before if I wanted. My local hospital is small and they roughly do one elective a day, so all being well they said I'd go in for 7 or 8am and baby would be delivered by midday as they try to get the electives done first thing. Obviously there is chance of emergencies coming in and pushing you back but as it's such a small hospital it's few and far between they say.

Argh I'm so hoping something happens for you soon. You do not know my current excitement for you ladies, I'm super jealous right now 😆🙈 xxx

@MyGrassIsBrowner that is a bonus then, gives you time to think about it, we wonder why we put ourselves through this haha!

That's really good that they have a possible time frame of when baby would be born it takes away the unknown suspense lol.

I've just had a big tub of fresh pineapple and currently bouncing on my ball, ive gave up all hope of anything happening tbh just got myself set that ill be going into hospital on Friday night 😓.

Your next few weeks will fly in mrs and it will be your time before you know it 😁 xx

@M24L Oh this is the final time I'll be doing this to myself, lol. I could not cope with being pregnant again and I miss my red wine, dearly 😩
I've told DP to get a bottle of champagne in the fridge ready for me when I've had her, LOL.
I'm getting frustrated for you! I wanna hear some birth stories tonight ladies, it's what is keeping me going atm 😆
Just keep rolling them hips and stimulating those nipples lady!! Xx

@M24L oh I was like that with my DP ooh hang on that hurts he would be like you in labour then I'd be oh no it's gone so jusy dw dw haha felt like such a fraud everytime he phoned! Oooh I like the sound of the sanitary pad in the freezer!!! I'm waddling around holding my underneath and laughing kills me haha.

We've settled at home just trying to find some kind of routine if we can it's hard with bored hungry teens around!

@MyGrassIsBrowner haha I feel you lol, I absolutely adore being pregnant I love the feeling of being so close to the baby etc but I hate the dragged out ending part especially this time around haha.

I'm so looking forward to a nice big coffee, a freezing cold energy drink and the rarest steak 🙌

I'm still holding on here lol, lost another chunk of my plug today (how bloody big is that thing) but nothing else since.

@Vie8126 you feel like your over exaggerating a bit lol when your like ohh it could be today then it amounts to absolutely nothing haha!

Aw so nice to hear your home 💞 nothing better than being home I think being in hospital makes you feel dead groggy etc. Get the teens making dinner etc for you lol it's your time to chill out.

And lol on the mucus plug, mine honestly looked like an alien lifeform. I remember being so excited I sent a picture of it to DP.. I think I scarred him after that 😆

@MyGrassIsBrowner that's probably been the hardest thing to give up haha! I love a rare steak. My plug has been coming away for the past week, im wondering when it's going to stop 🤣🤣 I done the same to DH the man who can stomach anything literally boaked 🤣🤣🤣

Morning ladies!
My little boy was born at 11pm yesterday weighing 7lbs. We have to stay in 2/3 days for monitoring due to medication I am on but other than that we are both doing well xx

@M24L that was literally me few strong pains and I'd be like right now it could be today then few hours later he would call well.... Oh yeh it's not going to be today. Felt like such a drama queen. In the end on Friday I said ooh it could be today and DP just said but it won't be haha. Think he got fed up of it too!

Ooh steak yes, a nice chilled glass of something, teens off to their dad's at the weekend so do asked what I wanted for dinner whilst they aren't here steak was a feature as was brie and camembert with crusty bread so he got me some yesterday haha. Trying to thibk of what else I've missed....

How is everyone feeling today hope there's lots ofnaches and pains and things going on that mean labour's are impending for you guys xxx

I had about 4/5 sweeps in all. Went to 42+2 in the end. Nothing worked.
I put off induction as long as I could. Even the induction didn’t work. Baby just wasn’t for coming out. I ended up with an emergency section. A lot of regrets in all.

@Vie8126 haha I done this again yesterday lol, some new aches and pains started at 7pm and I thought this could be it but once again it's turned to nothing 😓.

Sounds like the perfect night mrs I hope you and DP have a wonderful time and enjoy your steak im sooo jealous haha.

I'm massively deflated today been awake since 3 and had a breakdown at 5am feeling like a total failure who can't even go into labour when everything seems to be ready too 😓.

Tried nipple stimulation as this is the only thing I haven't tried and by God the BHs came on thick and fast but once again they tailed off and nothing happened since.

@RedRobin100 oh no love im sorry to hear it didn't go to plan for you, im booked for induction on Friday night and as much as I was to refuse it again im worried that putting it off and off may result in a CS. It's a horrible feeling not really knowing what's right for your body and what's not.

@M24L please don't be deflated I understand exactly how you feel but your baby will be here soon you will labour and deliver them however that starts and ends. I could have put my induction off until Monday afternoon and was really unsure but tbh I would just do it the same again. Labour was intense but over quickly I don't have any regrets about it they started it but hey I still did the rest. You also still have a couple of days. What's the plan once you go in for your induction? I think it's just the not knowing, having enough etc it pushes you to your emotional limit esp when your constantly wondering is this it also and then add the well meaning texts all the time!! Keep strong you got this girl xx

I'm good a little sore still shuffling but little man slept 12 to 3 then 4 to 9am so obvs feel like a new woman haha. Forgot how hard it is to get anything done and we only had breakfast at 12 and jusy had lunch but ah well it's its the summer hols I'm just more on teen time than before!

@Vie8126 I think its more hearing all these stories from friends and family about their waters breaking at home and I had gotten so excited for this to happen this time after being induced with DD1 but the more days that pass the more I have a feeling its not happening! I think the lack of sleep during the night doesn't help either I swear I've been saying to DH ill sleep better doing night feeds than what I am right now haha!

They haven't said anything about what will happen at the induction apart from im going in Friday night and I will be checked over then a decision will be made to wether I need a pessary or if they can go ahead and break my waters without any pessary. I was 1cm at my sweep 1 week ago today so she said if I'm at least 2cm by Friday I could possibly just have my waters broken but I'm confused by this as when I went for my second sweep on Monday they weren't able to do it because my cervix was far back and babys head was down so low so I'm not sure how they will be able to break my waters lol🤷‍♀️.

The text messages and phone calls are the killers 😓 I know people mean we'll but I swear people who haven't spoken to me the whole pregnancy are all messaging and I'm like why you bothered now haha!

Oh go baby 👶 seems like a good wee soul already allowing mum to have some well earned rest 💙 haha your routine is allowed to be a bit here and there, the summer holidays do this at the best of times never mind adding a new baby into the mix.

@M24L oh I know how you feel the amount of friends and family who had these magical sweeps and were immediately 6cm or pushing within the hour was amazing!

Oh god yes the 'anything??' texts were a killer and also managed to make me feel like some kind of failure for the sweeps not working!! I wasn't even overdue either had to keep pointing out to people that he was due yet!

Take it step by step, so your going in to be checked then see what the next stage options are. Oh yes how will they do anything if baby's head is so low they couldn't perform a sweep that's confusing. Hopefully you won't need much if any and you'll already be so far along. For me processing it step by step was a lot better than the panic I felt initially it did keep me more level and not nervous.

He is a good boy I can't complain, I am waiting for him to wake up and give me hell but I'll take what I have for now!! DP working from home today ( we can't afford for him to have pat leave and us both have smp and spp for two weeks) so his been back at work which has been fine. I have some serious post natal swelling of my feet and ankles going on so perhaps overdid it a bit yest so at least I can fully put my feet up today.

Fingers crossed there isn't long to wait eek it is so exciting at least you know no matter what this time next week you will be holding baby 😘😊😊

Op. I had 3 possibly 4 sweeps with my first, he decided to come the morning before I was due to be induced (they rang me to ask why I didn't show, no one told them I have the baby!!)
my third however.... I had 2 sweeps, the night after my second sweep my waters actually went- first time for me! I had no idea what was going on haha
They will come when they want to come really. No predicting it unfortunately!

Get some pineapple in you, lots of exercise, sex and a spicey curry!

I will add. The second sweep with my third was like no other I have had before.... she literally got right in their an swept! Really hurt me where as the others didn't bother me! So she obviously did the job ha xx
