Anyone terrified of catching covid more now then ever? I've had both jabs but am aware that's not full protection.

I thought this was the right year to have our last baby. If I'd known about the delta variant I would have waited 🥲

I feel like I’m in one of those lazer rooms trying to get to the other side without catching it 😂 I only have 4 weeks left and im not vaccinated because I’ve only just had my letter in and decided just to wait. I’m going nowhere and seeing one one because I’m so scared of either catching it or ending up with me or my partner testing positive and not being able to have him with me at the birth. So glad I don’t have long to go, feel for people who are only just pregnant now all these restrictions are going 😕

Tinydancer321 · 12/07/2021 16:24

I’m so anxious 10 weeks left. My poor children will be seeing no friends and no family over the holidays. All the mps on holiday till September so if the numbers go really high it will be the kids that miss their education again if we go into a lockdown. 😭

Girlmama3 · 12/07/2021 16:49

I'm not due until November 😩 I can't believe they've done it.

Apparently guidance for the vunerable are being updated. I wonder if we're remembered.

An MP asked Sajid Javid about guidance for pregnant women, and he said it would be released today - so fingers crossed we’ll have some legal protection in the workplace. Let’s see what it says…

Foxglovesandlilacs86 · 12/07/2021 16:58

I think if you have had both jabs then yabu.

Tinydancer321 · 12/07/2021 16:58

@CentralLondonPregnant problem is it’s not just work places. Shops, transport is no longer safe for us. Also when the kids go back in septmber (I have 3) how will I stay away. Also due in September

And this is why I am waiting patiently before I try to conceive my third!

1) This is not AIBU.
  1. I know of 4 people who are currently sick with covid, 2 different circles of friends, all are doubled jabbed +2 weeks.

  2. Pregnant women’s immune systems do not work in the same way.

Tinydancer321 · 12/07/2021 17:05

This was a accident tbh. Well I think keeping masks and social distancing wasn’t too much tbh. I’m glad it serves me right though.
Also they could have better air filtration in schools which labour were suggesting
And lots of other countries are doing

Longislandicedteaplease · 12/07/2021 17:05

You can still put restrictions on yourself, you don't need the rest of us to be locked down.
You decided to get pregnant at a time like this Hmm honestly

Foxglovesandlilacs86 · 12/07/2021 17:05

@CrouchEndTiger12

So what do you suggest happens?

Se all put our lives on hold and live with endless restrictions because you've chosen to have a baby in a pandemic?!

You didn't out your lives on hold and delay having a baby did you?

Have to say I really agree with this. I’m due any day now but it’s a choice that I made (well not really it was a suprise, but a suprise I could’ve prevented!) you can’t expect everyone to put their lives on hold forever. It’s been nearly a year and a half!
Chelyanne · 12/07/2021 17:07

The restrictions couldn't stay forever. You need to get your heads around it because the virus like thousands of others will be around longer than any of us will be.

Tinydancer321 · 12/07/2021 17:09

Also I have pcos (I actually needed fertility treatment for my other children). This is the only Natural one and I’m an older mum so prob wouldn’t of been able to have another one if I waited till after. I’m not the only person pregnant or feeling this way. I was going to have a abortion because we in 8 months time the govement was going to reduce all restrictions and let 100000 of people catch it 🤦🏼‍♀️

Tinydancer321 · 12/07/2021 17:10

I don’t think masks will be killing anyone tbh 🤦🏼‍♀️

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 12/07/2021 17:11

But there was always the possibility of mutations and changes. And you went it the pregnancy knowing that.

I agree its added stress and uncertainty but it was a choice to try.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 12/07/2021 17:16

@Tinydancer321

As we've seen with lockdown 2 despite masks being compulsory from July 2020 they are utterly useless and the virus still run riot until lockdown 2

🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

CrouchEndTiger12 · 12/07/2021 17:18

If someone on here is due in Nov they must have conceived in Jan to Feb this year at the start of lockdown 2.

You'd seen the second lockdown start, you'd seen how bad this could be and that one lockdown wasn't enough and you still got pregnant & expect us to stay locked up for you?

What we're you thinking?

toocold54 · 12/07/2021 17:18

They’ve said as soon as cases rise too high that the restrictions will come back in. I think they’re hoping they can stretch it out until September but chances are it will be a lot sooner than that.

Jaxhog · 12/07/2021 17:19

I think if you have had both jabs then yabu.

Don't you understand that this does not give 100% protection to everyone??

I'm also very concerned. Mainly because I can't trust other people to take care, unless there are actual rules and consequences to them if they don't.

Tinydancer321 · 12/07/2021 17:20

Well not really the figures went up when the socialising was allowed when we were all wearing masks around shops etc they did work or the numbers wouldn’t of gone down. I suppose that’s how your feel as it’s not been proven either way. But like the vaccine whether that’s stopping it from spreading is questionable as it’s spreading as quickly as it did last year.

Viviennemary · 12/07/2021 17:20

You will be fine. Lots of people have had babies in the height of the pandemic.

CrouchEndTiger12 · 12/07/2021 17:20

Mainly because I can't trust other people to take care, unless there are actual rules and consequences to them if they don't.

The government is genius convincing us that it would have gone away by now if people followed the rules.

That isn't how viruses work.

Jaxhog · 12/07/2021 17:23

Yes well, Some people have a time limit for getting pregnant. We aren't all twentysomethings with great fertility.

How about those of us who are old or with immune system problems? We didn't 'choose' that either! Or is lying on a crowded beach or getting pissed in a pub more important?

MissChanandlerBong22 · 12/07/2021 17:23

Yes I find it scary OP. Yes, I ‘decided to get pregnant at a time like this’ Hmm (although not everyone has the luxury of picking the perfect time) but I didn’t foresee the government deciding to return to ‘herd immunity’ as a strategy in the face of rapidly rising infections.
