My ankles and feet are huge! Felt gross earlier at my midwife appointment, I was so sweaty that she commented on it 😂😑
Been given some exercises to do to try and ease my PGP as I'm struggling to walk or drive it's so uncomfortable at times
She couldn't figure out which way round baby was either as there was something wide at the top of my bump but she couldn't feel a head down low so she's not sure if he's breech or not.

FTEngineerM · 21/07/2021 20:37

Tonight I have restless legs that are making me need to move AND my hips are killing if I move, what did I do to deserve this in 30 degree heat 😭

Kirky658 · 22/07/2021 04:08

Can't sleep, sweating buckets, gah can't wait till it cools down this weekend!!!

GWhiteley · 22/07/2021 05:33

3rd day in a row I'm awake early, though luckily not with cramp this time. Struggle to get back to sleep as mind starts whirring with a million things

Scotti84 · 22/07/2021 07:24

Had a crappy nights sleep too. Woke up with stomach pain which freaked me right out, didn't go off for ages and only when I tried laying on my back. Baby was blubbering away too. Its eased off now but no idea what that was, if she was laying on or poking something new or it's just round ligament pain. At the docs this afternoon for a check up so will see then. Its due to cool down over here from the weekend, can't wait to have cooler nights!

Suma2021 · 22/07/2021 08:20

It's so hard to sleep in this heat isn't it, let alone do anything else. Yesterday I attempted an exercise video on YouTube (a very gentle one) but had to slow playback speed to half even on that because I was sweating so much and couldn't keep up Grin

I've got a fan cranked up to highest setting (loudest too, trying to drown out husband's snoring) but still roasting in a first floor flat, then struggling to fall back asleep after getting up to pee because mind is racing.

@Scotti84 I've had a horrible stomach pain wake me up a few times too. Felt like churning / soreness in my upper stomach and freaked me right out - thought I might be sick so got out of bed - For me it turned out I just needed to go to the toilet Blush
Hope its okay when you get checked out today and they put your mind at ease.

Allicit · 22/07/2021 12:44

Hi everyone, great to catch up on how everyone is doing :) the heat is insane isn’t it? But I’ve got my baby shower (just a casual mixed bbq with friends and family) and praying the weather holds although it is saying maybe thunderstorms because of course it is!

I’m 34 weeks tomorrow should I be thinking about washing things soon? Do people wash new things or only the second hand stuff? To be honest I’ve never washed new things before but I see lots of people do? I was also wondering about cribs etc. I’ve been setting up the nursery but wondering if I should wait on getting the mattress sheets etc out as they may just get catty/dusty?! I also haven’t packed my hospital bag yet. Weirdly the closer it gets the less I want to do stuff but I am super excited about his arrival. I think I just don’t wanna do it too early maybe? xx

SP2Bx · 22/07/2021 12:57

Not much longer until the temperatures dip slightly ladies! I found last night much cooler, actually got under my duvet at one point which is unheard of this week! Fingers crossed the weather stays nice for your shower @Allicit 🤞🏼

I'll be washing everything probably around 36 weeks when I've had chance to sort out what I've got and get the last few bits together. I'll wash the Moses basket/crib sheets then too but might keep them folded away until baby is here to avoid them getting dusty as you say - will only take a second to pop them on! We have a full cot in the nursery for when baby is big enough.. I'm gonna just put a sheet on that for now so it looks finished 🙈

It's all getting SO real!

Kirky658 · 22/07/2021 13:19

@allicit we were advised at antenatal classes to wash everything, sometimes new clothing is made abroad and treated with chemicals that you wouldn't want on baby's sensitive skin. So I've washed all new and used stuff. 2 loads! I've left the wrapper on the mattress and moses basket mattress but washed all the blankets etc and put in the under cot drawers. Hoping to pack hospital bag this weekend, I'm 32 weeks now. I'm a worrier though and just got a feeling our little girlie will come earlier than planned! X

Allicit · 22/07/2021 13:48

@Kirky658 and @SP2Bx ooo thanks guys!

Yeah I hadn’t thought of that although my partner just said it was in our class too Blush I

Sounds like a big old wash it is! To be fair I was going to have to pre wash all our cloth nappies and I think I may as well get used to spending half my life washing clothes eh!

36 week sounds like a really good idea timing wise as we haven’t got many clothes yet as wanted to wait and see what happened with the baby shower. I was always really clear it was chill and presents weren’t an obligation or anything but I know a few people haven’t been able to resist cute things!

MrsMcNtobe · 22/07/2021 16:52

@Kirky658 I wasn’t sure if washing blankets and knitted items was a necessity then I saw that my washing machine has a wool setting so I was going to just pop them on a 30degree wash on that setting, do you think that would be ok?

I haven’t started washing anything else because I’m still waiting on OH taking me to IKEA to pick drawers/wardrobe!

Kirky658 · 22/07/2021 17:06

@mrsmcntobe I'd guess so as wool would be a very delicate wash! I washed my cellular blankets and some gifted handmade wool blankets on 40 degrees daily wash and it doesn't seem to have harmed them 😊 but I'm not the best with washing - with our own stuff I rarely bother separating the whites and darks lol x

Poppysmile · 22/07/2021 18:49

Hi guys, not been on here for a while times gone so fast thank god!!, I’m 31 weeks and I got bitten last night got abit bigger today with a ring around it, I’m thinking just mosquito bite is that anything to worry about? Has anyone else been bitten?xxxx

Suma2021 · 22/07/2021 21:00

@Poppysmile I'm getting bitten loads at the moment, whereas normally I'm never bitten. Must be the increased blood volume! Usually mosquitos but a couple of horse fly bites when I go walking which swell quite a bit and so itchy.

Wouldn't have thought it's anything to worry about, try not to itch and break the skin though! I found rubbing sudocream on mine helped as it worked as anti bacterial and soothed itching Smile

Kirky658 · 22/07/2021 21:51

@poppysmile my DH is covered in bites from the canal. Just keep an eye on it make sure the ring around it doesnt get any bigger as it could be a horse fly but I think you'd know if one of those got you! I second sudocrem and if you have any anthisan or hydrocortisone cream they really help, just make sure they are OK to use in pregnancy x

Poppysmile · 23/07/2021 06:37

Thanks for replying puts my mind at ease, used sudo cream last night seem to help which is good!!xxx

GWhiteley · 23/07/2021 07:47

@Allicit I'm 34 weeks this week too, and have so far haven't done any washing of any kind. Mostly this is due to space more than anything, I've found the chest of drawers I want but until we decide if we're putting the house on the market there's no point in putting it up as we don't have a separate room for a nursery. We can't decide if we're staying or not until the patio is finished & our builder is currently self isolating with covid! But if I had a separate nursery I think I would have washed all the clothes by now but maybe not the sheets & blankets unless they can go in a drawer too

Kirky658 · 23/07/2021 17:38

Just had the fright of my life, baby hadn't been that active today and I hadn't realised, DH got me a cold drink, lay me down on my back and prodded my tummy and now she's kicking away thank goodness!

CherLW · 23/07/2021 18:05

@Kirky658 I know what that feels like! It’s horrible isn’t it! I’m glad the cold drink helped.. will our nerves ever return to normal!!

CherLW · 23/07/2021 18:07

Ladies I’m 34 weeks today and it feel under prepared!! I haven’t done any of the babies washing yet, I haven’t packed my hospital bags!
I’m getting new drawers for the baby so want those to be ready before I do the washing.
I had my bathroom re done this week and there is stuff everywhere! Feel like I’m going backwards, not forward!!

To top it off today is perineal massage day number 1 and there is only so many videos and online info one can watch and read through!!

Noodles4Me · 23/07/2021 19:26

@CherLW I'm 35 +1 and not packed bag or sorted nursery yet so you are not alone!!

Genuinely feel there is no more room in my insides for this child. He's incredibly active. I've got reflux from hell, fat feet, one leaky boob and sciatica in the hip. Such joy.

4 more weeks to go.

CherLW · 23/07/2021 19:30

@Noodles4Me it’s good to know I’m not the only one. I know I need to get things sorted but I feel washing needs to happen before bag packing! In relation to bag packing I’m thinking babies bag is easy but mine… i just don’t know!

It’s crazy isn’t it how much room they need in there! Everything is so squished! I love being pregnant and will definitely miss it but a few things I could do without 😂

Kirky658 · 23/07/2021 20:42

@cherlw I don't think the worry will ever go away!!!! 🙁 DH is doing loads of jobs round our house, he's jetwashed and re pointed our patio slabs today bless him he is shattered. But it won't get done ever if we don't do it now!

Been for a walk with an old school friend today with her little boy who's 9 months, she's given me some maternity shorts, some 'spritz for bits' and a couple of other essentials she doesn't need any more bless her, so nice to have people nearby who've done it recently and know how you feel!

CherLW · 23/07/2021 21:03

@Kirky658 that’s good you’re getting bits done, it’s so true that if it’s not now it will be never!

I’ve heard the ‘spritz for bits’ is good! I’m tempted to get some! I also have The Expert midwife nipple balm and ‘peri prep your bits’.
It’s nice isn’t it when there are people who’ve been in this position before and just get it.

Kirky658 · 23/07/2021 21:09

@cherlw I know right, I cleared out our kitchen cupboards the other day (absolutely exhausted me but hey ho) so that's another job done.

Yes deffo and especially someone who's done it recently too and dealt with giving birth and bringing up a baby in lockdown!

I'm over the moon as I've hit my sales target this month so get a decent bonus in next month's paycheck, right in time for mat leave!
