@taybz we are celebrating our 2nd anniversary next month, heading to North Wales for a few days (assuming they let us in and cases don't horrendously multiply!) x

GummyBear91 · 18/07/2021 20:02

@Taybz I've had two so far. Next one is at a GP check up at 31 weeks (a week on Monday). I feel like you should have had one more than you have...

D0nut · 18/07/2021 20:23

@Taybz I’m 30 weeks now and I’ve only had one measurement at 28 weeks and my next appointment at 32 weeks is over the phone. I also feel I should have had more.

FTEngineerM · 18/07/2021 20:26

I’ve had 2 measurements, one at 50th one at 90th 👀🤷🏽‍♀️.

Also: RESTLESS LEGS ARGHHHH anyone else?

Kat1112025 · 18/07/2021 20:44

I had one measurement at 25, another at 28 and I think I'll have another at 31. It's a first pregnancy, not sure if that makes any difference?

LauEli · 18/07/2021 20:49

I had a measurement at 26 weeks and 28 weeks, my next is at 31 weeks, which is two weeks away. My 28 week measurement triggered growth scans as she was measuring 31weeks, but scan shows she's absolutely fine and just between the 50th centile line 😁

D0nut · 18/07/2021 21:11

So many of my appointments are still over the phone. This is my first too and I wish I could have more measurements to know it’s all going ok. My trust do do an extra scan at 35 weeks though. I think I’ll only get a total of 2 measurements.

SP2Bx · 18/07/2021 21:40

@CherLW I'm going to give perennial massage a go! Figured no harm can come from it but if it works then happy days! Got some special massage oil from My Expert Midwife at the ready, and think I'll start about 34 weeks too (only 30+4 atm).

@Taybz Measurements-wise I've only been measured once at my 28 wk appointment. Imagine I'll get measured at every one now, so 31/34/36/38/40...

Totally agree with the not watching the news and fretting about cases @Noodles4Me ! Literally nothing we can do about it so gonna just have to cross our fingers!

SP2Bx · 18/07/2021 22:20

*perineal 😂 my perineum is not a continuously flowering plant 🤦🏼‍♀️

RadDarwazeh · 18/07/2021 22:24

@Taybz we have a 2 year cotton anniversary coming up and I booked a fancy spa day for us both. Was gonna stay over too but it's local and staying would've cost twice the price! I said to DH it's gonna count as our babymoon too

Re: bump measurements I've had three so far (30 weeks 1 day today)

Next midwife appointment end of first week of August xx

CherLW · 18/07/2021 22:43

@SP2Bx I to have my oil ready! I got the same one as you… even tho I now know you can use basically anything! I was told almond oil was good which would have been cheaper!
I was told you start at 34 weeks, 3-4 times a week for 3-4 minutes at a time.
I’m going to do some you tubing to see if there are any position techniques!

Kirky658 · 19/07/2021 06:15

@sp2bx that made me chuckle 🤣🤣

I've had 3 measurements so far, measuring bang on about 70th centile.

SP2Bx · 19/07/2021 10:50

Anyone else experienced real shortness of breath, but just like, sat at your desk? ie. not having done anything strenuous

AdventuresAwait · 19/07/2021 10:56

@SP2Bx, I do when I'm laying down, even in the day time, but especially overnight when I sometimes wake up short of breath.

Taybz · 19/07/2021 11:13

Thanks ladies, that's seems to confirm my suspicions that I was supposed to have one more bump measurement at least as a Ftm. Desperate to change my midwife but too chicken to do so for fear of her finding out and upsetting her 🙄 @D0nut it's a shame most of your appointments have been on the phone especially with everything opening up now. Hope you can get seen in person more from today x

@Kirky658 I heard North Wales is lovely! With my huge cankles and possible SPD not sure I could travel that far from London 😬

@RadDarwazeh a weekend spa is looking like the best option right now. They're soo expensive though aren't they? It's also our 2nd anniversary 😊

Kirky658 · 19/07/2021 11:27

@sp2bx yep I was at my desk on the phone the other day and gasping. Hate it!

SillyBry · 19/07/2021 12:24

@SP2Bx That made me laugh lots!!

Good luck with the massage ladies. I tried last time and just couldn't bend in the right direction/my arms weren't long enough. It was disastrous and I felt like a right idiot!!!
I may try again this time - although I had stitches last time and they didn't really cause me any bother.

bluemagicalsky · 19/07/2021 12:53

@Taybz I'm a FTM. I've just had the 1 bump measurement at 28 weeks, and due one this week at 31 weeks. Looking at my antenatal record book, measurements will now take place at every midwife appt I have. It gives all the details of what happens at the appointments. Do you have one of these?

crobo87 · 19/07/2021 14:43

I haven't been given any bump measurements as I'm having regular growth scans.
Not sure if they will measure my bump at any point 🤷🏼‍♀️ x

AdventuresAwait · 19/07/2021 14:48

@crobo87, I'm also having growth scans and my midwife said if you have scans, they don't take bump measurements.

crobo87 · 19/07/2021 14:49

@AdventuresAwait I thought that was the case x

Scotti84 · 20/07/2021 08:17

How are people doing with weight gain? Mines slowed down since the GD diagnosis, I'm 8kg more than pre pregnancy, i had heard people gain up to 40kg but maybe that's an extreme.

Bubbles1st · 20/07/2021 08:40

@Scotti84 yesterday at my 32 week growth scan I was 2kg more than my booking appointment.

I've lost weight every week since my GD diagnosis, just goes to show how poor my diet must have before before.

My mum says I thinner in my face, neck and arms and that I look really good.

I don't see it myself as I see is a big belly!

Be interested to see if I keep losing or the weight of baby finally over takes any loss.

I can definitely afford to weigh less and maybe this is what I needed to get me on a healthy track for motherhood and keeping up with a baby at 37!

crobo87 · 20/07/2021 09:30

I've only put on about 3lb throughout but I was overweight to start with. I definitely lost weight in the first trimester due to not being able to eat properly but it is starting to creep on now.

unicornpower · 20/07/2021 09:50

@Scotti84 Man i have piled it on! I lost ALOT in the first trimester but I've put it all back on and more haha I'm at least 10kg heavier but it does seem to be all bump and i have polyhydraminos (too much fluid) so i think that's probably not helping but i have stopped weighing myself!
