@Sillysocks998 without this thread I can honestly say I would have been tearing my hair out & wouldn't be doing as well as I am now. We've been able to support each other through good & bad patches since being diagnosed

GWhiteley · 16/07/2021 20:46

Thanks for the suggestions @FTEngineerM & @Sillysocks998 I might download the app rather than buy another book. I've ordered first time parents to have a look at

@Kirky658 I'm so bloody useless when I'm too hot. Luckily I've been off today as felt really drained most of the day & unable to concentrate on anything

Kirky658 · 16/07/2021 20:52

I'm really starting to freak out about the rise in cases...what if we get to September and we have to give birth alone?! Or our birth partner catches covid and can't come?! Terrified x

Sillysocks998 · 16/07/2021 20:59

Thank you @AdventuresAwait and @GWhiteley I'm on page 3. Feeling overwhelmed like you were initially. Feeling stressed and heavy chest. We bought the travel system today after GTT. I'm so tired. Beyond tired. Just need to sleep. I've drawn a line under baby shopping now. Have t got everything we needed but I'm so tired. Now that I've got GD I need to plan foods. Picking up the equipment next week. Thank you for the link again xxx

crobo87 · 16/07/2021 21:17

@Kirky658 I've been worrying about the same.
They have relaxed the hospital restrictions massively here and I'm really worried they will soon tighten then again.

FTEngineerM · 16/07/2021 21:32

Me too @Kirky658 it was horrible saying goodbye to DP 1 hour after birth last time and I’m dreading what will happen this time.

Seems totally illogical that people can travel/go to sports events but ante/post natal visitors are limited.

KHR1 · 16/07/2021 21:56

@Kirky658 me too. The idea that we might be back in lockdown (think it was Chris whitty that suggested it) before the end of August worries me because of the idea of having to go into hospital alone during labour or not being allowed partners to visit after.

GWhiteley · 16/07/2021 22:02

I'm trying not to think about it, cause the thought of hubby not being there when I give birth doesn't bear thinking about

Kirky658 · 17/07/2021 07:20

Sorry if I have forced any of you to think about it too it's a horrible situation we find ourselves in. There was a thread on the pregnancy board the other day of a lady posting the same thing and omg. Some of the abuse she got 'you chose to get pregnant in a pandemic' and all sorts it was really unpleasant. Just shows people don't care doesn't it.

On a more cheery note it's Roasting here already and I'm in bed. Might stay here 😂

FTEngineerM · 17/07/2021 07:42

Ha - I wish I’d seen that I’d have been all over it😂. Midwives have said nothing but good things to me about establishing breastfeeding being easier and rates increasing, home births increasing and bonding between mum/partner and the baby also increasing because of the pandemic/lockdowns.

bewitchingnight · 17/07/2021 08:05

Urgh @Kirky658 I had to hide that thread (or a similar one) because of that. Some people have no empathy! I'm a bit worried about it too, the hospital we'll be going to has really good visiting hours (although I disagree that dads / birth partners are visitors!) and I hope it doesn't have to change.

I'm finding the heat difficult too! Every time I go for a little walk I have to have a shower afterwards, this really is such an attractive time...!

CobleCloud · 17/07/2021 21:57

Ladies if anyone is struggling with the heat and fancies a pamper I would 100% recommend the my Little Coco bump mask by Rochelle Humes from Boots.. I read a tip to put it in the fridge first and tried it tonight. It was super cool and soothing on bump and has left bump super soft and hydrated! Cooled me down lots! X

Kirky658 · 17/07/2021 22:12

Got myself an exercise ball today, it is amazing! Sitting on it while watching TV its actually pretty comfortable.

DH and I went for a pregnancy photoshoot today. I felt so beautiful and so unlike myself when I saw the photos, it has made me realise how stunning our pregnant bodies are and how amazing we are!

Mamabearwhere · 18/07/2021 08:21

Hi ladies. Hope you’re well. Is anyone planning on doing colostrum harvesting ? I’ve not done it with my previous two but considering it this time. Some people say it brings on labour but not a bad thing I guess if I start around 37 weeks.

SP2Bx · 18/07/2021 09:50

@CobleCloud Ooh I have one of these I've been saving for when I feel the bump is big enough lol - tonight could be the night! Thanks for the fridge tip!

@Mamabearwhere Yes I would like to, I've got the little syringes still on my "to buy" list, but I don't really know where to start! I haven't really started leaking anything yet, so I guess I've got time to do my research!

Kirky658 · 18/07/2021 09:56

@mamabearwhere @sp2bx we talked about this at the classes last weekend and you can get the syringes from your midwife foc 😊 and the midwife running the course said you can start around 37 weeks and it's not proven to bring on labour. Xx

SP2Bx · 18/07/2021 10:03

@Kirky658 Oh great! I did just read to ask your midwife for syringes but wasn't sure it was the same everywhere so good to hear... I'll try to remember at my 36 week appointment!!

Kirky658 · 18/07/2021 10:07

@sp2bx no worries lovely happy to share the knowledge! 😘 Have you got the bounty app? I've found it dead useful I write questions in for each appt as I remember them so I don't forget to ask at the appt.

DH and I went for a photoshoot yesterday. I'd bought it as a joke couples boudoir Xmas pressie while we were ttc to try and spice things up a bit but obviously I fell pregnant that Xmas 🤣 so we had a 'bump boudoir' shoot instead. I have to say I've never felt so sexy and attractive in my life, the photos are amazing!

RadDarwazeh · 18/07/2021 10:09

Hi everyone! Anyone know when aldis baby event is next on? Would love to see what they have this time. I got some lovely muslins and a changing mat last time. Hope you mamas are staying cool in this heat. I'll be indoors all day, I'm too scared to go out in the sun haha!

Hopefulmummie · 18/07/2021 10:30

How is everyone coping with the heat? Im up at our caravan atm on the coast so its theres a nice breeze.

It looks like hospitals in NI are going backwards again with their restrictions. One trust here (not mine) have stopped visiting including maternity until further notice. I expect more trusts to follow.
Im just worried if they change maternity rules again as i have group b strep i have to go down as soon as my waters break so could potentially be in for a couple of days on my own until in active labour. It sucks

Noodles4Me · 18/07/2021 10:42

I highly recommend you stop watching the news for those anxious about cases. It may not stop the outcome when it comes to birth but my god it so good for anxiety relief when you stop watching news.
Cases are just positive tests, not hospitalizations and these tests are not exactly reliable.

I might try my own bump mask later. Cold flannel, some nice lotion, fridge...then slap it on.

CherLW · 18/07/2021 11:35

Good morning Ladies!

I’m 33+2 today!! On my countdown list from online workshops etc I've heard that it’s good to start perennial massage from 34 weeks!! That’s so soon now!

Is anyone going to try doing it? Or has anyone done it before in a previous pregnancy?

RadDarwazeh · 18/07/2021 11:59

@CherLW I'm gonna try it out! Lemme know how you get on as you're a but ahead of me I'm 29 weeks xx

CherLW · 18/07/2021 12:04

@RadDarwazeh I’m just thinking if it works in the slightest then bonus but if it doesn’t then I haven’t lost anything.
I’ll let you know how I get on, just need to find a good position 😂

Taybz · 18/07/2021 12:38

Hi ladies, hope you're all well! I'm intrigued to know how many baby bump measurements you've had - I've only had 2 so far and I'm just under 32wks. Feels like too little. I haven't got another midwife appointment until week 34.

Also, some of you mentioned anniversaries (sorry can't remember who) ours is also coming up in a week and I'm feeling miserable about being stuck in the UK - where are you taking yours? Does anyone have any recommendations for UK beach staycations?
