a few days off here and loads of updates!
@Mamabearwhere congrats, thats SO exciting! have u got some niceplans now finished worked? I cant wait to finish, i find sitting at a dinner table so uncomfortable so desk work all day really isnt fun!
@Kirky658 im a miserable sod, didnt have a hen do, and won't be having a baby shower either! ooo not long til your wedding anniversary :)! ours is few days before yours!
@SP2Bx i feel awful for saying this, ive never particularly enjoyed baby movements, like obviously there is something amazing about knowing its your little baby, but the actual feeling makes mefeel odd, and some of the bigger movements make me squirm a bit.
anyone elses bump growing literally by the day?! defo look pregnant now, there is no escaping this belly poking out in a t shirt!
so exciting some of you have dates/weeks planned for C sections, its crazy how close its getting!
im getting a bit terrified at a few people commenting how their baby came 3 weeks before due date etc, and whilst idont wanna find myself massively overdue,3 weeks early would be a surprise!
thanks for tip about the hat by the way - @CobleCloud i didnt know this either!!!

Kirky658 · 15/07/2021 10:10

@leftitlate37 I know, we booked a restaurant last night for it so quite excited! We are off to Wales for a few days, have you got anything special planned?

MrsTD88 · 15/07/2021 13:47

Hey @Scotti84 saw the awful news coming out of Germany today. Is your area affected? Hope all your friends and family are okay X

Scotti84 · 15/07/2021 15:30

@MrsTD88 hey, thanks for checking up, I'm OK, I'm right in the south in the mountains so we're pretty protected, all ok over here thank god!

Bubbles1st · 15/07/2021 16:25

@Scotti84 good to hear you're safe and well!

bewitchingnight · 15/07/2021 16:42

@leftitlate37 haha yes some days I look down and think my bump has expanded overnight!

Had a growth scan today, all good and little girl is 4.1lbs 💖

leftitlate37 · 15/07/2021 16:59

Oooo growing nicely @bewitchingnight! Great news!!
Ah amazing @Kirky658 what part of Wales? R ur parents dog sitting did u say?
We have a night away planned but will play by ear as despite being jabbed bit worried bout crazy sky rocketing covid cases!

Kirky658 · 15/07/2021 17:04

@leftitlate37 yep they are! North Wales, near Abergele 😊 can't wait. Its my parents caravan so feels pretty safe to go. I've just got DH a jack wills shirt and some socks for his 2nd anniversary present (following the cotton tradition). That's not too boring is it?!

Scotti84 · 15/07/2021 17:45

Are cases really as bad in England as the press are reporting? We're down to 8 cases in every 100,000 which I'm happy about, but there's still a 1 hr time limit for OH to visit after the birth. Hoping they ditch that soon!

We're off away this weekend too, just for one night over the border to Austria, too nervous to go too far incase anything happens. Shortest honeymoon in history but it will be nice to get a change of scenery!

Hope you enjoy your weekend in Wales @Kirky658

Kirky658 · 15/07/2021 17:50

@scotti84 unfortunately yes they are it's getting very scary again. Ah thanks lovely, we aren't going till beginning of August but cant wait all the same hope the weather is as glorious as it is now x

MrsTD88 · 15/07/2021 19:54

@Scotti84 thank goodness, glad to hear you're okay.

KHR1 · 15/07/2021 20:18

@Scotti84 cases in England seem to be getting super high, dreading how bad they will get after Monday when we basically scrap every rule going

@Mamabearwhere that's exciting! Have you got anything nice planned before baby comes?

I don't know why but I've suddenly started with awful pains in my pelvis and hips.. Walking is painful and driving is so uncomfy :( does anyone have any tips to ease the pain during the day?

Kirky658 · 15/07/2021 20:34

@khr1 no useful tips i'm afraid but I've been plagued with backache and hip ache now for a good 5 days.. I got shin splints while walking this morning too. Pregnancy is so fun!!

Also so embarrassed as I sneezed earlier and had a little leak, mortified. I've been doing my exercises so I'm gutted

KHR1 · 15/07/2021 21:10

@Kirky658 oh no that sounds like quite an uncomfy combination!

I dread sneezing, been awful at doing my exercises though, I always forget!

crobo87 · 15/07/2021 22:27

Had my fetal medicine scan today....doctor was perfectly happy with babies brain which was a relief. Blood flow to baby also seemed good despite the placenta issues at my 22 week Doppler.
They are concerned about his size though and have upped my growth scans to every 2 weeks. Also because of my blood pressure.
Had it taken again today and although it's not as high it's still higher than normal despite medication.
Next growth scan is Monday, that's 4 hospital trips since Monday 🙈🙈.

GWhiteley · 16/07/2021 06:11

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has bought a baby book that covers the first few months after baby is born? I keep changing my mind as to whether it's worth getting one, and then if I do there are so many to choose from! I'm a ftm, and although hubby has a daughter from a previous relationship, she's 8 & I wonder how much of it he really remembers! Plus it's daft things I'm unsure of, like do I really need to take her everywhere with me while int he house? What if I'm in the living room but need to put some washing on - do I take her with me. And what about when I need a shower, can I leave her in her mosses basket in the bedroom while I'm in the bathroom? Daft questions I know, and feel stupid saying them out loud to friends or family that probably know the answers!

Kirky658 · 16/07/2021 06:35

@gwhiteley not stupid questions at all. We've all been there!!! We got First Time Parents by Lucy Adams off Amazon on recommendation and it's great. Not preachy and goes loads into post birth and early life xx

GWhiteley · 16/07/2021 10:46

Thanks @Kirky658 I'll have a look. Might get an odd look from hubby since he's not a first time parent, but since it's me that needs to know these things for when he's not around he can't say anything really!

bewitchingnight · 16/07/2021 11:14

@GWhiteley @Kirky658 I got that book as well, I like how no nonsense and practical it is! I also bought Your Baby Week by Week by Simone Cave after someone recommended it. Looks good but haven't read much so far, has bits about developmental things that happen each week and the chapters are really short which I thought would be good when sleep deprived!

@crobo87 oh that's good news about the brain and the placenta. What a lot of hospital trips but at least you know they're looking after you both x

Kirky658 · 16/07/2021 12:21

@bewitchingnight yes that's why I recommend it, I just love how easy it is to read and straightforward and the author isn't push about it either, just easy and funny in parts too loll x

Kirky658 · 16/07/2021 14:50

Can't deal with this heat ladies I'm melting
Just been for a walk with a friend and had to put my clothes in the washing machine they were soaked. Eirghhh!!!!

SillyBry · 16/07/2021 16:23

@GWhiteley @Kirky658 @bewitchingnight The Wonder Weeks book/app are really useful for helping you work out why your baby may have had a personality transplant overnight! But you can google the leaps without getting the book to be honest.
Sarah Ockwell-Smith's books are all really readable - Gentle Parenting, Sleep etc. I don't subscribe to her methods totally as I'm a bit no nonsense, but they are really relatable and remind you that we're all in the same boat!!

FTEngineerM · 16/07/2021 17:40

Ooo deffo recommend wonder weeks too, it was good for me to rationalise why overnight he couldn’t be put down and would cry more and wouldn’t like the things he liked yesterday. I felt better knowing it was because he could suddenly see more and was scared for example, it’s so hard when they can’t communicate other than crying to understand that sometimes it’s just because they need to feel you close and that’s all. I also liked seeing an end point, without it it would have felt a bit relentless.

To be fair it’s been bang on for us aswell.

Sillysocks998 · 16/07/2021 19:15
