@AdventuresAwait that's such a good idea!

Sillysocks998 · 13/07/2021 13:23

@AdventuresAwait thank you I'll try that nearer the time. I've got a cat so I'll have to clean my room first before hand. Im hoping baby doesn't have allergies to cats😭

CherLW · 13/07/2021 14:00

If anyone follows thebabyaceademyuk on Instagram they have posted a post today about the delivery of the placenta.. I thought it was really interesting and haven’t really been spoken to about anything like that yet.

Alsh · 13/07/2021 15:02

Thanks @SillyBry @MrsTD88 @KHR1 @CherLW for the replies. @SillyBry Thanks for the video and link suggestions, it was really informative. I have spoken to the GP as well and he said that you can now have 4 weeks in between doses instead of 8.

@CherLW I used fairy non-bio liquid as well as I have been using it for my clothes for years now. The midwife from my antenatal class said we don't need to use a different detergent for the baby and for yourself as the baby will also be in contact with your clothes when carrying, etc.

Alsh · 13/07/2021 15:05

What type of hospital bag are you using? I haven't packed my hospital stuff yet. Not sure if a small suitcase is ok to bring to the hospital? Lol

AdventuresAwait · 13/07/2021 15:15

@Alsh, re. Hospital bags... I've not a small suitcase for me (a carry on type) & a holdall for baby xx

CherLW · 13/07/2021 15:45

@Alsh I’ll just use the same one for me and baby. Going to start using one now so everything should be the same for when baby is here 💙

I’m taking a back pack style changing bag for baby, a small carry on style suitcase for me and nappies and a small lunch/cool bag with snacks!

Mamabearwhere · 13/07/2021 16:19

I’m using a large gym duffel bag style thing. Inside it I’m using packing cubes to organise my stuff, baby stuff and toiletries etc. I took a small carryon suitcase last time but I’m taking even less things this time so hoping to fit it all in there.

Kirky658 · 13/07/2021 17:04

I've got a carryon bag which I'll use for me and might give baby's changing bag a go for her bag 😊

Just been for 31 week check, all absolutely fab. Bump measuring just over 30 weeks and hb 140bpm, midwife very happy. Yay!

Scotti84 · 14/07/2021 10:06

Maybe a dumb question but do we need to take socks and gloves to the hospital? Not like thick ones but scratch mitts and that. Just had a look through what we've got and not sure it's enough. All my bodies have either feet in or no legs, so I'm going to get some with legs but no feet. It's all confusing!

Mamabearwhere · 14/07/2021 10:25

@Scotti84 if your sleepsuits have feet you don’t need socks. You’ll find socks won’t stay on very long on baby’s feet, they’re so teeny and it just slips off. Also a lot of sleep suits have a little fold on the sleeve, that just folders over the baby’s hands so acting like mittens. Regular mittens just fall off too so these new inventions are amazing.

Mamabearwhere · 14/07/2021 10:25

Folds * not folders

Mamabearwhere · 14/07/2021 10:29

Also a little hack for the ftms (I didn’t know this until my second baby) but the little flaps on the bodysuits is there so when they have a poonami you just roll the top down rather than over their head and get poo all over them. Genius. Attached photo explains better

Scotti84 · 14/07/2021 10:36

@Mamabearwhere thank you for the tips! So obvious when you know!

CobleCloud · 14/07/2021 10:43

@Mamabearwhere these tips are great. ☺️

On a slightly related note what is everyone doing re little hats.. are they really just needed when they are first born and in hospital? Just wondering if anyone knows where I can get some from and how many I'll need?

AdventuresAwait · 14/07/2021 10:49

@CobleCloud, I read that it is important to have a hat for straight after birth. I just bought these from amazon. Got two pink and two white 😊

Kirky658 · 14/07/2021 10:52

@coblecloud baby should wear a hat for the first 24 hrs after birth as they can't regulate their temperature 😊 my mum has knitted us one bless her x

CobleCloud · 14/07/2021 11:07

Thanks @AdventuresAwait and @Kirky658 ah yes that makes sense.. it's so strange as a FTM how randomly thoughts like this just pop into my head.

How lovely to have a handmade knitted one it will be great as a little keepsake, I've had a family member make me a blanket which is lovely.

I'll have a look on Amazon too and josh get a couple then.

Thanks Ladies.

Kirky658 · 14/07/2021 11:31

@coblecloud I just realised I sounded like a right know it all, we were told that at our classes 😂 lol. Mum is loving knitting we've got a blanket, cardigans and all sorts bless her x

CobleCloud · 14/07/2021 12:10

@Kirky658 no you didn't at all.. I really appreciate the help. Feeling a bit lost & overwhelmed this week with the amount to get sorted and organised! X

Noodles4Me · 14/07/2021 13:09

Afternoon ladies. Hope all is good and people not too hot (I bloody am)

Booked in officially for my ELCS at 39 weeks. All seems good growth wise. Fingers crossed, in 5 weeks I'll have my little boy.

Just need to pack, sort nursery, think of a name....GrinShock

AdventuresAwait · 14/07/2021 13:14

Me too @Noodles4Me! I felt relieved to have it booked. How are you feeling? Great to hear all is looking good. 5 weeks... that isn't long now until you meet your little boy!

Enjoy the preparations and name choosing! Xx

Kirky658 · 14/07/2021 13:29

@coblecloud likewise. Not so much baby stuff now more other stuff round the house. I've ordered the toiletries for my hospital bag so I've got spares of everything I can pack and leave so I can pack that next weekend. I'm 31 weeks today it's so scary!

@Noodles4Me @adventuresawait how exciting for you both to have a birthdate❤️

Kat1112025 · 14/07/2021 13:43

Still don't have a single baby item, very jealous of those that already have it all organised.

Building work at the house is still underway, there's too much mess and dust to add more things to the house now. I'm due at the end of September so hopefully it'll be ok!

CherLW · 14/07/2021 14:13

@CobleCloud about baby hats… next have a pack of 3 at the moment in different colours with little tiny ears on! So cute!! About £7 for the pack x
