@Kirky658 In the beginning my baby will just live in sleepsuits or long sleeve vests with leggings! They're too tiny for "outfits" to look any good or be practical anyway! As for sizes I've mostly gone for "up to 1 month" which I think covers up to 10lbs. I've got a couple of newborn (up to 7.5lbs) sleepsuits too for the first few days, but admittedly no vests in that size yet! Still only got about 10 sleepsuits but hoping that number will grow post-baby shower 🙈 If not i'll have to go grab a load of packs of sleepsuits but I'm trying not to buy too much stuff until they're here and we know if it's a boy or a girl ☺️ The number of sleepsuits you need will depend on a lot of things like how sicky they are etc and how much washing you want to be doing! I'm preparing for anything up to 4 outfit changes a day some days and basing it on that!!

AdventuresAwait · 12/07/2021 17:35

@Kirky658, I've bought some newborn vests, sleepsuits and leggings in newborn and 1 month sizes. I've then got about 4 in 0-3 months.

marshmallowmode · 12/07/2021 17:46

I bought a pack of newborn vests (think there was 7 in there) and a pack of newborn sleepsuits (5 of those). Then I have 7 vests and sleepsuits in 0-3 months. I figured that I'll see how big baby is when he arrives and if he's comfortably in newborn we can pop out and get some more of those. Didn't want to buy too many in case he's a big baby and doesn't even fit in them! We'll need more 0-3 months sizes but I expect we'll receive some clothes in that size and if not we can buy more when he's here. But I might be wildly off base with that as I'm a ftm and only know anything from searching old mumsnet posts 😂

SillyBry · 12/07/2021 18:20

@Kirky658 I've basically bought vests and sleepsuits... I think I have about 6 in up to 1 month and about 12 in 0-3 months... then about 2 outfits, which are basically leggings and long sleeved vests/tops... I've not gone wild as we don't know if it's a boy or a girl. But likewise, my baby will pretty much live in sleepsuits until they are 3 months as it's so much easier!

Alsh · 12/07/2021 18:49

Hi ladies! A bit out of topic, but has anyone had Covid vaccine yet? How was it, did you have any side effects? I was planning to wait after birth but this July 19 end of lockdown rules is making me anxious yet at the same time I'm worried about vaccine side effects on baby as there is no long term study yet. Any opinion on this?

crobo87 · 12/07/2021 18:57

I didn't make my scan today, they did my blood pressure before I went for my scan and it was sky high so ended up on the assessment ward for 2 hours to be monitored.
It did come down but is still the higher end of 'normal'. Tweaked my meds in the hope that helps. Got to have weekly blood tests as well as BP checks now too.

They were going to send me back down for my scan but by the time I was off the monitors the consultant wouldn't see me so I've got to go back Thursday 🙈.
Home now though which is good, not sure I could hack another night in hospital lol x

MrsTD88 · 12/07/2021 19:31

@Alsh hey I had my first vaccine on 10 June, just waiting to have my second one now. I had a bit of a sore head and temp for a hours the next day but then was absolutely fine. Have since had a growth scan and baby is absolutely fine.

@Crobo87 oh no that sounds so stressful and definitely wouldn't help your blood pressure! Glad you've got home and they're keeping a close eye on you.

KHR1 · 12/07/2021 19:32

@AdventuresAwait thank you so much, the vepcro does look lovely and soft - it wasn't very clear on the website!

I didn't have leaky boobs at all in my first pregnancy but do this time

Hope all goes well for those having scans this week. Sorry you didn't make yours @crobo87, hope the adjusted meds help with your blood pressure and that your scan goes well on Thursday

SillyBry · 12/07/2021 19:34

@Alsh I'm waiting for my second jab, first one was fine.

Best thing to do is search for the Stella Creasy webinar on Covid and Pregnancy. Really useful, impartial information about the vaccine.
There is quite a lot of data coming out of the US as pregnant women have been vaccinated with Pfizer or Moderna since they started, so plenty of women in the US have birthed after having the vaccine.
Safety data can be found here: www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/nejmoa2104983

I was really anti having it until I started researching it, but eventually decided it was better to have it. It's such a personal choice though :-)

KHR1 · 12/07/2021 19:34

@Alsh I've had both vaccines now, I had a bad headache and really sore arm after the first one and no symptoms after the second. I've had a growth scan since and all seemed to be okay

SillyBry · 12/07/2021 19:36

@crobo87 I'm sorry your day has been mega frustrating... I'm sure you just wanted the scan to know everything is ok. I hope the meds help you - and Thursday comes around quickly!

Kirky658 · 12/07/2021 20:25

@crobo87 oh hun that sucks, what a day! Hopefully you can find out more on Thursday.
@sillybry @adventuresawait @marshmallowmode sounds like we are all on a similar wavelength then, I've got 8-10lb x 6 vests from matalan, x 5 tiny baby vests from matalan, 0-3 months vests x 4, x 3 sleepsuits in newborn as well.. Going to get some more sleepsuits and perhaps some Leggings or something for her too. Just don't want to be caught short lol!

SillyBry · 12/07/2021 21:36

@Kirky658 we got sent SO many gifts when we had our first… I’m not sure people care so much about the second. But it was amazing!
I’ve just accidentally ordered some more stuff… Frugi have the last of their sale on, so I bought some lovely sleepsuits sets in newborn super cheap!

CherLW · 12/07/2021 21:39

@Kirky658 clothing purchases are so difficult!! I’ve got x6 0-1 vests and x10 0-3 vests. Then for sleep suits I have x7 0-1 and x10 0-3.

I don’t have any ‘outfits’ really, just a couple of pairs of leggings to go with a long sleeved vest, cardigan/hoodie and I couldn’t resist a little pair of dungarees!!

@Alsh I had my first jab last month and then the second is booked for mid august. I had the Moderna and I only had a sore arm and a little sleepy so hoping that’s all I get with jab 2!! I was going to wait until after the birth but the more I hear the more beneficial and safe it is to have now. Everyone is different but was the best choice for me and now I’m really glad I did.

CherLW · 12/07/2021 21:40

@SillyBry that little frugi set 😍😍 so cute!!

SillyBry · 12/07/2021 21:48

@CherLW I didn’t need it, but for £7.50, you can’t go wrong! 🤣 and not knowing the gender, something that’s bright and colourful but gender neutral is very handy!

CherLW · 12/07/2021 21:50

@SillyBry it’s a bargain!! I don’t need anymore clothes as I have loads now! I love bright clothes for the baby, all about the variety

SP2Bx · 12/07/2021 22:18

Omg @SillyBry I've never seen that Frugi stuff before but it's adorable! They have the cutest little dungarees on there but only available in newborn and their newborn size looks tiny! 6-7lbs?! Have you tried their stuff with your DD, and is it generous if so?

AdventuresAwait · 12/07/2021 23:54

I hadn't heard of Frugi but have just bought this in the sale! I love it & couldn't resist 😊 Thanks @SillyBry

GWhiteley · 13/07/2021 07:08

I'm slightly worried. Last night I went to the little Tesco to pick something up for dinner. Part way round I had a sharp pain in my lower right side for about a minute & then a dull ache which lasted the 10 minutes it took me to get to the car & get home. The whole right side felt tender to touch & hubby made me sit down. It eased quite a lot once I'd relaxed but then when I was doing the washing up I had loads of cramping sensations all across my tummy that I think were braxton hicks but I'm not sure. Decided to go to bed & baby was moving a fair amount before I drifted off to sleep. Tummy feels ok this morning, should I mention it to my midwife to be on the safe side?

CherLW · 13/07/2021 08:21

@GWhiteley I would call them with anything like that just so they could put your mind at rest really. I would rather make the 5 min call than worry. Hope you’re feeling better this morning x

CherLW · 13/07/2021 08:22

Anyone know any good washing detergents that are good for baby? I want to start washing the little clothes, blankets etc that I’ll be taking in the hospital bag.

AdventuresAwait · 13/07/2021 08:29

@GWhiteley, I've had some strange pains and tenderness which didn't seem to concern them. But I agree with @CherLW, always worth mentioning something that worries you and to give them a call. How are you feeling now? Xx

GWhiteley · 13/07/2021 08:32

@AdventuresAwait it all feels fine now & baby moving ok. Bloody midwife is off today so going to call triage just to talk it through & get some reassurance. I don't think it was ligature pain

Mamabearwhere · 13/07/2021 08:56

@CherLW I’ve always used fairy non bio for baby clothes
