@Hopefulmummie, sorry to hear that. The tightenings sound like Braxton Hicks but I'm also a FTM so don't really know... sorry.
Are the pains new? Is baby moving as usual? Do you have a number to call for advice? I think I'd call and see what they say if you're concerned Xx

Mamabearwhere · 10/07/2021 15:32

@Hopefulmummie I’d call the midwife just to be safe, they’d be able to advice best. Some days I have loads of regular braxton hicks and some days not as many.

Hopefulmummie · 10/07/2021 15:33

Yeah ive never had pains like this. I rang admissions and they said take paracetamol and if it doesnt ease up go down to be checked out

FTEngineerM · 10/07/2021 16:11

@Hopefulmummie that’s what I ‘felt’ contractions as, period pains. Is it constant or coming and going? Did the paracetamol help?

I agree @AdventuresAwait this thread is like an encyclopaedia for pregnant ladies 😂.

Going through DS1s old clothes today, finally got them down from the attic. I can’t believe how tiny some of them are, little boots and tiny hats 😭. It feels like yesterday we were dressing him in there tiny sleep suits 30 times a day because he’s shit through our terrible attempt at a nappy.

KHR1 · 10/07/2021 17:22

Hope the paracetamol helps @Hopefulmummie - the period pains does make it sound like possible contractions, hopefully not though.

Hopefulmummie · 10/07/2021 18:57

The paracetamol def helped and im now thinking its a uti as ive been running to toilet and nothing much coming out. My friend is a midwife and said uti can feel like period pains too. It was just my tummy hardening that worried too. Will keep an eye on things tonight thanks all

Kirky658 · 10/07/2021 20:59

@hopefulmummie hope all is OK, keep an eye on yourself.

So day 1 of the in person antenatal classes were fab! We covered labour and pain relief and it was sooooooo helpful.

GWhiteley · 10/07/2021 21:03

@Hopefulmummie I'm glad the paracetamol has helped ease the pain. Make sure you keep an eye on it though

GWhiteley · 10/07/2021 21:07

Is anyone else as uncomfortable as me? Baby is lying on her side & so one side of my stomach is hard & the other squidgy. The hard side is quite painful & im so uncomfortable when I sit down or stand or anything 😩 Been like this all afternoon but don't know if there's any way to get her to shift?

crobo87 · 10/07/2021 21:15

@GWhiteley my bump is exactly the same. It's really painful if I sit normally or stand for too long.

He currently has his head near my ribs and feet down towards my lower right side...not comfortable at all! X

GWhiteley · 10/07/2021 21:24

@crobo87 so glad I'm not the only one! Think she's got her head downwards and then curled in a c but it's just so uncomfortable & hard to do anything really. Think I need an early night as feeling like a right miserable cow!

KHR1 · 10/07/2021 21:29

@GWhiteley yes! Baby was head down at my scan on Tuesday but judging by the lump under my ribs and feeling hiccups high up, I think he turned back breech. 33 weeks next week so desperate for him to shift back.

GWhiteley · 10/07/2021 21:33

@KHR1 I was 32 weeks yesterday & she was head down on Thursday at my midwife app. I don't think she's shifted, but who knows as this is my first 🤷‍♀️

Mamabearwhere · 10/07/2021 22:49

@GWhiteley honestly I’ve never been this uncomfortable as I have during these past few weeks. Baby is heads down (really low) and constantly getting kicked and pushed in uncomfortable places. Braxton hicks are getting quite uncomfortable, almost painful at times. Leg cramps in the middle of the night sooo painful that my leg still aches for the whole day. Turning in bed side to side is really uncomfortable. And tmi but today I noticed I’m really swollen down there almost like the baby’s head is bulging into my vagina!

This evening DH and I were standing in the kitchen chatting when suddenly the whole room started spinning. If he wasn’t next to me I’d definitely fallen over and probably hit my head somewhere. It’s quite scary. I’ve been feeling dizzy on and off the last month but not this bad like tonight. Anyone else feeling dizzy? Told my midwife at the last appointment and she said my iron levels were fine and blood pressure etc all ok.

Hopefulmummie · 11/07/2021 00:28

I ended up going down to admissions as pain came back and i couldn't settle until i knew everything ok. They put me on monitoring machine and baby was all good and it didnt seem like i was contracting. Dr said symptoms sounded like a UTI and there was slight markers in my urine so theyve sent it off but gave me antibiotics just incase it is

AdventuresAwait · 11/07/2021 02:00

Glad you got checked @Hopefulmummie and all is okay xx

Kirky658 · 11/07/2021 06:58

@hopefulmummie thank goodness for that, hopefully the antibiotics sort you out xx

GWhiteley · 11/07/2021 08:25

@Mamabearwhere I too have braxton hicks regularly, normally when I'm trying to get to sleep. And oh my god same with the leg cramp!!! I've upped my water & that has helped, but if I drink less that a litre & a half of water I know I'm going to be in trouble that night. And I struggle to walk the following day.
It's a struggle turning in the night for me too, which I have to do regularly as my hips are so bloody painful now.

That dizziness is worrying, I've not had it, but I think you should call your midwife & tell her what's been happening & your concerns

marshmallowmode · 11/07/2021 09:51

This may have been asked before on one of our threads but what are you all thinking for newborn sleeping? I was thinking that sleeping bags seem like the easiest and safest option but I know most don't fit when they're newborns. I've seen things like grosnugs for when they're really little but they're pricey! Ftm so over thinking all these little details at the moment 🙈

@Hopefulmummie glad you got checked out and all is okay!

@Mamabearwhere I'm also getting increasingly uncomfortable at night now. And I get quite a lot of braxton hicks. Didn't even realise that's what they were until reading this thread a few weeks back - assumed baby was just in a weird position or something haha.

Kirky658 · 11/07/2021 10:05

@marshmallowmode I think it was me that asked originally about sleeping, I'd bought the grobags but didn't realise they're only suitable for babies 8lb and up so I've bought some cellular blankets.

Eurgh just been for a swim, 34 lengths, killed me today. Oh and my fingers have swollen up so had to take my wedding and engagement rings off 😭

Noodles4Me · 11/07/2021 11:18

I too can join the very uncomfortable club. Baby is head down but back to back, pressing on a nerve so have like a sciatic pain in right hip and buttock.

His feet are in my stomach...so that's fun Confused. But I know, I'm lucky everything has been okay so far and only 5/6 weeks left.

Anyone had some nipple leaks? Had some from one boob but not other.

Bubbles1st · 11/07/2021 11:33

@marshmallowmode I'm going to try and swaddle for the first couple months, it isn't advised after that as they start trying to roll.

I've got a swaddle blanket and will try will larger muslins if the weather is warm.

Then I've got the sleeping bags for when a bit older

KHR1 · 11/07/2021 11:43

@marshmallowmode I've got some blankets for the first few weeks but with my DD we started using sleeping bags straight away (didn't realise they were from 8lb but she was born 8lb 13oz anyway).

@Noodles4Me I've had a few leaks, usually after a shower or on an evening, but not a lot. It started about a month or two ago but doesnt happen too often.

unicornpower · 11/07/2021 13:59

Hey girls, had my growth scan on Friday, baby is fine and measuring just above the 50th percentile so thats all good, the sonographer said she has too much fluid around her which is strange as my bump is measuring small 🙈 Anyway, she said they need to keep an eye on this as it can cause cord prolapse if my waters break and the fluid is still too high. Its called polyhydramnios, has anyone else had this? She sent me to have bloods taken to check for diabetes and I have to call for those results on Tuesday. I have another scan at 32 weeks to check the fluid and I guess they'll make a plan with me if it is still too high. My water birth plan seems to be getting further away 🤨🤨🤨😔

@Noodles4Me yeah my boobs are very leaky, I've been using the breastpads from boots which seem to be helping but it's making a right mess of all my pj tops!

marshmallowmode · 11/07/2021 15:12

@Kirky658 I have got one cellular blanket, should probably get at least one more for those early days then!

@Bubbles1st I think I'd be a bit nervous about swaddling wrong, although it does look absolutely adorable.

@KHR1 well that's an advantage of a bigger baby! That would be really handy, and part of the reason I'm reluctant to buy the expensive newborn bags - if the baby is big we might not even get any use out of them..
