@sceptre86 @taybz thanks ladies! We painted it before we knew we were having a girl but still love it anyway!

SillyBry · 09/07/2021 13:15

@Mamabearwhere I swear by Rennie Deflatine - they seem to work much better than normal Rennie for me.

Ref monitors - I had an audio monitor for my first and haven't upgraded for number 2. The best features on ours are that you can talk back to the kid on it (important as they grow bigger and want to play not sleep!) and that you can put music and a star show on in the room without having to go in... that's super handy. It has a temperature gage on it, but it's terrible. The gro egg is much better!

You won't use it in the first few months anyway, so plenty of time to decide.

I've had swelling down below for weeks now on one side... but today, it's been super sore, so I investigated with a mirror. (It was bloody awful...!) Anyway, turns out I've got flipping varicous veins on my labia. Who knew that was a thing?!?! Pregnancy is NOT kind!

Kirky658 · 09/07/2021 14:40

@sillybry omg noooo that sounds so painful 😭

MrsTD88 · 09/07/2021 15:49

@Kirky658 love your nursery, love the colour too. We have something very similar for the girls sharing as it goes great with pink accessories.

SillyBry · 09/07/2021 15:53

@Kirky658 it's not comfortable!! One side has felt a bit numb and swollen for most of the pregnancy... but I'd not really investigated it... I mean noone wants to see themselves from that angle!!! ;-)
Allegedly it's fairly common and they usually resolve themselves within 6-8 weeks post partum, but I'll definitely be mentioning it to the midwife at 35 weeks!
Google suggests not to sit still too long - to keep active and exercise... I'm like but I'm doing all of that, so why me?! Most unfair!!

GWhiteley · 09/07/2021 19:19

I can definitely tell we're in the third trimester, my hips are so painful when I sleep now. Why is it I'm lying on my right but my left still hurts?!?! Couldn't get comfy last night at all.

Also started having acid reflux again after it disappearing for the last few weeks.

On a good note my blankets, mattresses & sheets have arrived & just need to get a couple of waterproof sheets as well & the baskets are ready both for at home & my parents 😀 I also bought the only baby grow I'm allowed with baby Whiteley 2021 on it 😍

Sillysocks998 · 09/07/2021 20:09

@GWhiteley my sister recommended me the bed dry nights mat thing u just put on the bed. It's a small square and if there are accidents, then peel off and bin.

For everyone else with acid reflux, get Omezerprole prescribed. I take 40mg once a day no heart burn issues ever.

Lots of love x

FTEngineerM · 09/07/2021 20:30
@Mamabearwhere I would consider getting Gaviscon advance prescribed by your GP, it's quite pricey in the supermarket so you may be less inclined to try it unless you already have. It's was effective for me.

Otherwise look at what your eating that could be causing it and cut it out.
You are an angel.
I read this and sent DP to get some.

Few hours later I am comfortable FINALLY. It’s been about a week or more of burny sicky uncomfortable feeling in my chest. The bottle is enormous to be fair so would probably do the entire street.

AdventuresAwait · 09/07/2021 20:47

I love this group/thread! 🥰

FTEngineerM · 09/07/2021 20:49

That sounds painful @SillyBry can you get a numbing cream or something?!

GWhiteley · 09/07/2021 22:46

Thanks @Sillysocks998 I've taken a screen shot to remind me to have a look

Bubbles1st · 09/07/2021 23:10

@FTEngineerM ah yay! So pleased it helped.

I got through three bottles before my GD diagnosis, now my diet has changed the heartburn has stopped. (Mostly...)

Hoops it can keep it at bay for next couple months for you :)

Anyone else struggling to sleep at night? I go to sleep fine and then wake around 1 or 2am, sometimes staying awake between an hour or 3 hours. I'm not in any pain. Just restless and cannot sleep... anyone found anything to help?

I know I said it quickly yesterday but I love this group/thread! It's so good to be able to share things and to see the support for each other. I moved during lockdown and don't really know anyone here yet so just find this group really invaluable.

Kirky658 · 10/07/2021 08:24

@adventuresawait yep me! We must somehow be in sync lol as I wake at 2am every night without fail to go for a wee. Then I'm awake. I tend to read through mumsnet to catch up 😂

Antenatal classes for us this weekend 😜

Hopefulmummie · 10/07/2021 08:29

Does anyone else have severe heartburn /acid reflux. Last night i was woke my by choking on acid/vomit that had came up sorry tmi but its getting worse and wondering can i be prescribed anything stronger by gp

Bubbles1st · 10/07/2021 08:30

@AdventuresAwait must be painful! I do wake up for the toilet around then but I can fall back asleep no problem.

Is there something you're thinking about?

Have you tried any white noise or adult stories?

When I first found out I was pregnant I couldn't sleep then for the anxiety in the lead up to the scan. I would listen to adult stories on YouTube, really zone in an listen and before I knew it it was morning.

Also a good pillow mist, I love mine.

OP posts:
AdventuresAwait · 10/07/2021 09:02

@Kirky658, yes I spend an hour or so on here too 🤣 Enjoy the antenatal classes! Let us know how they go. Are they online or in person? Xx

Oh that doesn't sound nice @Hopefulmummie. Sorry I've got no experience or advice for it but I'm sure others will be able to help xx

@Bubbles1st, don't think I'm thinking about anything in particular. Maybe the arrival of our little girl as I found out this week I'll be having a cesarean. It's what I want and believe is best for us but I'm definitely thinking about it. Have a book arriving today all about it so maybe that will help.
In the end last night, my husband suggested putting on some quiet music so I put on some instrumental music which was lovely and I did sleep so maybe I'll try that again. I guess I can just leave it on.
I have a pillow mist and love it. I put it on when I go to bed but it might be worth using it again when I wake at 1-2am.
Thanks for the advice xx

MrsTD88 · 10/07/2021 09:14

@AdventuresAwait if you have any questions about C-section or recovery I'm happy to share my experience. My first was unplanned but this time around is an elective. I've been having some anxiety about it too but I do feel more in control knowing I'll have a set date soon.

AdventuresAwait · 10/07/2021 09:24

I am not sure of my questions at the moment but would really like to hear your experience @MrsTD88. Maybe I'll have questions after reading the book that is coming today.

Oh I was wondering about the delivery of the placenta? And I'm hoping for delayed cord clamping as it's an elective c-section. Was anyone allowed to be with you during your anaesthetic insertion? I'm hoping my husband can stay with me as I'm nervous about that. My sister was allowed but a friend wasn't so maybe it is by area? Seems I do have questions 😊

We have our date and I feel more relaxed now. Hope you get yours soon. And please do share any info you are happy to.

Anything I need to know about prep or recovery? Would like to do all I can to help with both. I bought the Rennie Deflatine after reading on here that trapped wind can be a problem following the op. And have underwear and clothes that won't bother my wound.

How long did you stay in? I'm concerned baby will need medical help after birth though I know many do not.

Sorry... more questions than I thought... maybe it is really on my mind.

Mamabearwhere · 10/07/2021 09:24

@Bubbles1st thanks so much! I went and got this yesterday and had such good relief from it!!! Love this thread

@AdventuresAwait it is good to talk it out. I had an epidural before the op so didn't need a spinal in theatre, my husband was there for that but at my hospital I will be on my own for that this time while husband gets scrubbed up then he can come in. I didn't find it painful at all just had to sit very still and you can't see anything. My husband didn't like being able to see it last time so I think he's glad he won't be able to this time. Baby came really quickly and was checked over, weighed, dad cut the cord and then he brought her over to me while they took out the placenta and stitched me up. I was so in awe of baby I really didn't take in how long that took. We then went back to our room for toast and tea (the best thing ever post birth) and skin to skin for a good hour or so. We were then moved to the ward. Baby was absolutely fine health wise, she brought up a bit of mucus for the first few days which is very common when baby doesn't go through the birth canal but she was absolutely fine and fed well. You will likely have a catheter in during the op. Baby was born at 1.10am and mine was removed about 9am, wound was checked and I was allowed to go to the toilet. Definitely a good idea to get something for trapped wind and don't fear going to the toilet, it's fine if you're relaxed. Baby was born early hours of Tuesday morning and we were allowed home on the Thursday afternoon. I had to do clexin injections for 10 days post op to avoid clotting and the midwife took away my sharps box on her last home visit. Your midwife should check your wound when she visits and make sure you're doing OK. Tea tree oil is amazing for soothing the wound, my midwife recommended that last time. The one thing I would say is please don't do anything too strenuous for the full six weeks, I foolishly didn't listen and attempted to hang out washing which led to me bursting some of my stitches and getting an infection. I will definitely be taking it easy this time around. I'm not sure about delayed cord clamping but would definitely speak with your doctor or midwife as I'm sure they could accommodate that for you.
Scotti84 · 10/07/2021 12:28

Just a quick question, anyone feel like a numb sensation at the bottom of the ribs? Babys quite active there so I'm not sure if it's just that plus everything being squashed but sometimes it's it's weird numb kind of feeling.

AdventuresAwait · 10/07/2021 14:24

@MrsTD88, amazing information thanks so much! I may be in touch with more questions. My book has arrived so looking forward to getting into that too xx
