@CherylLW We have a bath thermometer that flashes and bleeps like @AdventuresAwait - it's great. Out baby monitor has the temperature on it so we don't have a room one

It's awful that everywhere still has such different restrictions on hospitals. I thought at mine it was partners to 12 and 20 week scans only but when I went for my growth scan the waiting room was full of couples (partners had to wait in a separate room before). I think it's great they are allowing partners but so many women were left standing then extra chairs got brought in and were crammed way less than 2m away.

CherLW · 08/07/2021 17:25

@leftitlate37 I feel you! I need to stop spending but I can’t!!

@Kirky658 ooo I’ll have a look for one of those, there are just so many! I have been looking at those nose unblocker things too 🤢

@AdventuresAwait cute!!

I have a night light so worth if I get a gro egg it will be too much 🤷🏻‍♀️

CherLW · 08/07/2021 17:29

@KHR1 @AdventuresAwait where did you get these flashing/bleeping thermometers?

Kirky658 · 08/07/2021 17:39

I'm trying to decide if we need a baby monitor at the moment because I think I'd want a video one and they're quite pricey. Thoughts?

@leftitlate37 I know exactly what you mean lol. Our anniversary is 4th August, When's yours? We are lucky my parents have a caravan so we are headed there for a few days away and my parents are dog sitting for us x

KHR1 · 08/07/2021 18:04

@CherylLW www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0077KA060/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_P2D1Z74VMEN3KQF8WMNC?tag=mumsnetforu03-21 we originally had a tommee tippee star one but it didn't work for very long.

@Kirky658 we didn't use our video monitor until DD was about 6 months and went into her own room. I like ours though and don't think I'd cope well with just a sound one

CherLW · 08/07/2021 18:06

Thanks @KHR1 I’ll have a look
😊

MrsTD88 · 08/07/2021 18:27

@MrsMcNtobe yeah I think you're probably right. I had my first one 4 weeks ago, no ill effects just a bit of a temp and sore head the next morning for a few hours. Had a growth scan since and baby is doing great. It is so difficult, I caught Covid last year and was quite ill so that swung it for me. My husband was more worried about the side effects than I was but I'm terrified of having to be by myself if I were to test positive around the time of birth.

@Sceptre86 it is a shame and little things such as hearing the heartbeat are so precious. My husband hasn't made it to any midwife appointments this time but that's just due to work.

@CherLW we have the Gro Egg from last time so will use that again for in the room. Our house gets so warm in the summer months so it's good to know when it's too hot.

@Kirky658 we'll definitely be getting a video monitor again this time, they're great especially when baby is in their own room so not really required straight away.

FTEngineerM · 08/07/2021 20:16

Video monitor is deffo worth it, I always thought with the audio ones silence isn’t necessarily a good thing..

We bought the vava from Amazon and it’s cracking, still use it now and he’s 1. I used to put it on his when he was asleep in his pram too if I was pottering about the house. To be fair though I was a bit ott.

crobo87 · 08/07/2021 21:32

Probably way to much information but anyone have any tips to ease nipple pain.
Mine have literally been burning the last week or so, I spend half the day at home with my boobs out 🤣 because I cannot stand anything touching them.

If I do have to go out I'm in pain the whole time! I have midwife next week so I'll mention it to her too.

AdventuresAwait · 08/07/2021 21:46

@CherLW, I got mine from amazon.

Taybz · 08/07/2021 23:04

I've been spending crazily for a while now but I've been daft and bought loads of Next first size clothes and newborns. Didn't realise how small that would be until I just did some reading now. Really cross with myself as I can't return now. How long do you think this will last? Days or weeks? Dh is tall and I'm worried baby won't even fit into all the gorgeous clothes I've bought him 😭

Bubbles1st · 08/07/2021 23:08

@Taybz it's easy to get carried away!
What type of clothes are they? If they are slew suits without feet they might last longer, however if they have feet it won't be so long. If you've bought any vests without legs you can buy vest extenders. You can use these just because to get more wear out of them anyway.

Most newborns pics I see have babies in clothes which are clearly too big for them, so hopefully even a bigger baby, you get a good few weeks, bearing in mind that if they are long they might be slimmer.

Taybz · 08/07/2021 23:45

I've bought mostly sleepsuits with the feet in these sizes - bought loads of these. The bodysuits I have them in 0-3 but didn't buy as much. I wish it were the other way round now. I love Next baby clothes and always go crazy even when buying as presents. Just feels like they're going to waste now

MrsTD88 · 09/07/2021 08:57

@crobo87 I am so glad you asked this question! I'm very grateful for working from home so I don't need to wear a bra all the time but I've started leaking a lot so need to wear breast pads.

Mamabearwhere · 09/07/2021 09:35

Has anyone got some miracle cure to heartburn? I was up till 3am unable to settle with burning painful heartburn. Hasn’t been too bad this pregnancy so far. I had some cheese board yesterday evening and wondering if that might have caused it.

Kat1112025 · 09/07/2021 09:59

@Mamabearwhere 😔 no great solution here. I find the liquid gaviscon better than Rennie tablets and sleeping propped up helps a bit too. Rich food always makes it much worse, plain fare like baked potato seems to help.

marshmallowmode · 09/07/2021 10:03

Oh gosh we're all definitely in the third trimester now aren't we with all these unpleasant symptoms!

I've luckily not had heartburn yet but Ive been having awful leg cramps during the night. My calves are still aching now.

Bubbles1st · 09/07/2021 10:34

@Mamabearwhere I would consider getting Gaviscon advance prescribed by your GP, it's quite pricey in the supermarket so you may be less inclined to try it unless you already have. It's was effective for me.

Otherwise look at what your eating that could be causing it and cut it out.

Krista1991 · 09/07/2021 10:43

Good morning,girls 🤰🏼😇

I hope you are all doing good!
I think I should ring to the hospital, the back pains getting unbearable...every day is getting worse and worse ...

I hope it’s not a sign of labour ...

It’s the third baby.

☹️☹️☹️

Kirky658 · 09/07/2021 11:13

@krista1991 I'd ring to be on the safe side hun just to get checked out. Hope all is OK ❤️

@mamabearwhere heartburn is killing me too, cheese is the culprit for sure as DH made a gorgeous carbonara last night and there was so much parmesan in it!

Kirky658 · 09/07/2021 11:13

Also little nursery update ❤️

September 2021 - Thread 7 is here
Krista1991 · 09/07/2021 11:41

I will see how the pains are in an hour..and I will ring to the hospital.
I am worried 😧

Sceptre86 · 09/07/2021 11:42

@Krista1991 I would ring them and see what they say. Hope you are OK x

@Kirky658 I love the colour you went for, its pretty.

Taybz · 09/07/2021 11:59

@Mamabearwhere I've also got horrible heartburn every single day. The things that are helping are Gaviscon as already mentioned and mostly sleeping with 2 pillows propped against each other at an angle so that my head is never flat. Has made a huge difference as I was not sleeping well at all!

@Kirky658 that is such a cute nursery. Also love the wall decal.

@Krista1991 You should definitely call the midwife at least for reassurance. Good luck!

Mamabearwhere · 09/07/2021 12:03

Thanks ladies. I’ve just gone to get some gaviscon as Rennie wasn’t doing anything. Dr google also suggested peppermint tea which I’ve been sipping on.

We’re def in the third trimester. So many horrible symptoms. I’ve been getting loose bowls multiple times a day, really bad backache (almost like period pain backache) @Krista1991 I was also worried it might be early labour because of the pain. I’m also really breathless and generally a very grumpy heavily pregnant woman.
