For anyone interested Boots currently have 50%off their baby clothes and the next sale is on at the weekend in store, it may well be earlier online. I normally get a vip slot for the next sale and am able to get early access, I got quite a few bits for baby and they had a great selection for boys and girls. John Lewis also have some great offers on sleepsuits at the moment and they wash well according to friends. Dh had to reign me in but my sister is expecting her baby at the same time as me and then my sil shortly after, followed by my xouain's wife so I have a few babies to but for.

AdventuresAwait · 08/07/2021 07:30

Great, thanks @Sceptre86! I'll enjoy having a look x

Newmum110 · 08/07/2021 08:18

I hear ye ladies regarding the ongoing restrictions for partners. Very frustrating when you see the freedom in other areas of society but hopefully things will have improved by September.
Where I am partners are allowed in for scans, active labour, and when baby is born 2 hours visiting per day, not sure how women who have had cesarean/difficult births are meant to cope with only 2 hours help per day.

Noodles4Me · 08/07/2021 08:31

I've had DH at every appointment and scan (many) and he can be with me for hours after section...my Trust isn't a big one and more outskirts of Dales rather than big city like Leeds/Bradford so that might be why. They are still sensible with precautions though.

Hopefully hospitals (and schools) will start relaxing now, especially if the country is. So bored of restrictions and the division and anger they are causing.

Scotti84 · 08/07/2021 09:25

Over here they've only just allowed OHs to doc appts, my next one is in 2 week when I'll be 34 weeks and he can finally come and hear babys heartbeat and see the ultrasound! Better late than never I guess!

In the hospital he's allowed in for the birth (I would seriously consider home birth if they said he couldn't be there) with a mask, even if though he'll be fully vaccinated by then. And then he can come with while i get settled in the ward, but then only one hour a day visit time. They have family rooms here but they're closed due to corona, which for me makes no sense as surely its better he comes in with me and stays instead of coming and going every day, but I've given up trying to understand these rules. Germany have finally said uk people can come over now so i might actually get to see my family before babys born and for the first time in a year and half!

AdventuresAwait · 08/07/2021 09:54

Oh @Scotti84 so pleased to hear you may get to see your family soon! Xx

Sceptre86 · 08/07/2021 10:19

@Scotti84 hope you do get to see your family before baby arrives x

Kirky658 · 08/07/2021 11:04

@scotti84 that's great news, hopefully you'll be able to have a great catch up before baby arrives ❤️

@newmum110 I think the trust rules here are very similar to yours (UHNM Trust). I've tried not to look at them in too much detail for fear of stressing myself out to be honest. I know our trust usually offers private rooms for £££ so I'm planning to ask about these but suspect they'll either be full or n/a due to covid.

At the moment I'd much rather baby came at 38 weeks, as that would be the day DH is due to go back to work and would save him so much hassle with starting back teaching and then having to be off for 2 weeks again. But she will come when she's ready!

So having put the moses basket in our room...ive tripped over it 3 times. Bodes well 🤣

MrsTD88 · 08/07/2021 11:06

@Hopefulmummie I'm in Scotland and fortunately we have been allowed partners with us for everything throughout. So grateful for that especially after going through a loss and surgery last year. I am disappointed though that our daughter may not be able to visit us on the ward once baby arrives, I know I'll be in for at least 2 days having an elective and would love her to be able to come in and meet baby before we come home but we'll see what the next lot of easing of restrictions brings up here.

@CherLW if you end up staying in for a few days it's better to have it just in case. One thing I'd recommend is roll on instead of spray deodorant as it can set off the alarms in the bathrooms! Also, my midwife last time recommended Dove body wash and deodorant and no perfume so as not to irriate baby's skin when doing skin to skin, breastfeeding etc.

@Sceptre86 this gets me too, I found it so hard constantly changing baby etc and cluster feeding that husband being there so I could have a power nap was essential. I'll be so upset if come September he can't be on the ward all day as there just aren't enough staff to help with changing etc. I went crazy on the Next VIP sale the other day 🙈

@Scotti84 that'll be lovely seeing your family after such a long time.

CherLW · 08/07/2021 11:15

That’s a good shout @MrsTD88 roll on abs no spray and no perfume washes etc. It’s little things like that that slip my mind! Thank you x

CherLW · 08/07/2021 11:16

I love the next VIP sale!! I spend about £57 but would have been £139 full price! Love it!!

Also boots parenting event has double points for 4 days!

Hopefulmummie · 08/07/2021 11:33

@MrsTD88 thats great. Im grateful my partner is allowed to come for scans now but i think im just bitter as i had an ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage last year and found out at scans alone as partners weren't allowed in even though at the time bars and restaurants were opening.

Im hoping by September the visiting restrictions are lifted a bit as 1 hour a day really isnt enough especially if you need to be kept in

MrsTD88 · 08/07/2021 11:39

@CherLW no problem X

@hopefulmummie I am so sorry you had to go through both of those alone, I cannot imagine what that must have been like for you. I also went through miscarriage and an ectopic last year and was so lucky my husband was allowed to be there when I found out. It is so frustrating there is a such a divide in level of care for pregnant women still across the country.

MrsMcNtobe · 08/07/2021 13:27

@MrsTD88 I’m Glasgow and have only been allowed OH to 12 and 20 week scan, I asked two weeks ago about midwife appointments and any growth scans we might need and was told still no 😢 hoping visiting after baby is born relaxes as last my midwife knew partners still had to book slots to visit 🤦🏻‍♀️ X

MrsTD88 · 08/07/2021 13:37

@MrsMcNtobe oh no, so sorry he hasn't been allowed to come! I'm in Forth Valley and they have allowed partners to everything, including consultant appointments. So crazy that we're half an hour apart and it differs so much! Hopefully by the time we all give birth the maternity warda return to normal X

MrsMcNtobe · 08/07/2021 15:22

@MrsTD88 it’s crazy plus I think Glasgow will be the last to change rules cos we always have the highest cases! Have you had your covid jag? I was supposed to have mine on Tuesday and moved it to next week because I’m still undecided! X

crobo87 · 08/07/2021 16:28

We are quite lucky here that restrictions on hospital visits has eased quite a bit.
My partner can come to all appointments but just has to wait outside till I'm seen.
He was also able to visit between 1&7pm when I was in the hospital earlier this week.

I am worried though that they may tighten them when cases rise.

Kirky658 · 08/07/2021 16:41

I literally can't make it past 3:30pm every day without a nap now. Anyone else?

Sceptre86 · 08/07/2021 16:43

@MrsMcNtobe, @MrsTD88 I'm in west lothian and dh still can't attend midwife appointments. Not sure if that is just down to my own midwife or policy. Thankfully I've been through it all before so not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but a shame it varies so much.

CherLW · 08/07/2021 16:55

Really hoping the restrictions level out for everyone, it’s hard just not knowing!

On a side note… has anyone bought a bath or/and room thermometer? I feel like it’s something I’ve been looking at for months and can’t decide!

leftitlate37 · 08/07/2021 16:59

ME @Kirky658! was just thinking today might need to take a days leave a week to get me thru til mat leave. really struggling. im more around the 2pm mark, its like the first trimester, total exhaustion. u did make me chuckle about the moses basket...i bet thatll be me when we put ours up!
defo agree its so rubbish how varied the rules are on partners :( sounds like we are quite lucky where we are. managed to get hubby to every appt.
had a reduced movement panic this week and end up getting checked out, all fine thank goodness but gotta have a scan still that think is more routine just to be on safe side as bump measuring small (altho last time they scanned baby measured 50th centile). hopefully hes ok, and will be nice to get a look at him again.
thanks for heads up on boots deal @CherLW!! altho we need 2 stop spending money argh!
any of you guys sorted on post mat leave childcare? hadnt realised how booked up it all gets!!! some booked til sept 22, gulp.

Kirky658 · 08/07/2021 17:03

@cherlw yep we got a set from boots it was about 16 quid with a room and bath thermometer combo (a Teddy bear), a nose unblocked thingy and an electronic thermometer. The room and bath thermometer is great and flashes red if too hot ( I used in my bath last week).

@leftitlate37 honestly I'm clumsy at the best of times but that was a new one 🤣 already can't wait till she's in her own room and she hasn't arrived yet lol. Sorry to hear about your reduced movements hun and as all is OK now. I told my boss I was exhausted today and she suggested I move one of my annual leave weeks to next week I was like errr no.... I'm off first week of Aug as its our wedding anniversary that week then in for a week and finishing up.

AdventuresAwait · 08/07/2021 17:04

Yes @CherLW I've got a cute little seal bath thermometer lol and a Gro Egg 2 for the bedroom:

leftitlate37 · 08/07/2021 17:08

Ooo we got that gro egg @AdventuresAwait! Like the look of bathroom one!
Ah yeah don't be moving your leave @Kirky658! Our wedding anniversary that week too! Planned on a night away but think will see how mad covid cases r and maybe just ditch dogs with someone else and have chilled dinner at home without them trying to steal it!! The only reason I can wait for baby to go in his own room is that currently he would be sharing it with a bunch of stuff that reallt needs to go to tip, or in loft, and his clothes would be piled up on floor...it would feel a bit like he was visiting haha
