That's great @Kirky658, thanks. That's what we've done. I might get those others but maybe I'm being optimistic about the weather!!
I also want to get a going home outfit 😊 So exciting xx

Scotti84 · 07/07/2021 16:15

We've been fortunate to get a mix of things from other halves family, really happy about that as there's long/short sleeved things, vests, bodies, leggings, bits of everything. I've seen h&m have babygros that roll up too, considering getting a couple of them incase she's either small or long, either way then they'll deffo fit. Are the h&m stuff good?

AdventuresAwait · 07/07/2021 16:23

Ooh they sound good @Scotti84! I'll have a look, thanks

Noodles4Me · 07/07/2021 17:09

Is anyone else now able to feel baby limbs etc? I've felt an arm and both feet, can actually distinguish then when pressing the bump! It's very odd!

AdventuresAwait · 07/07/2021 17:25

No I've not had that @Noodles4Me.. wow! That's amazing. How many weeks are you?

GWhiteley · 07/07/2021 17:44

@AdventuresAwait getting the going home outfit is so exciting! We're going use the outfit I was brought home in, that was knitted by a family friend as that'll make my mums day 😊

GWhiteley · 07/07/2021 17:47

@Kirky658 I had to do the same yesterday after a really stressful week & a half at work, I was just exhausted! Seriously didn't feel bad one iota since it was him that caused me most of the stress 😂

Kirky658 · 07/07/2021 18:18

@Noodles4Me I'm pretty sure we felt a leg and a foot last night, she's sooooo strong now my belly just wobbles 🤣

Cot has been delivered today! Another job for DH to do hehhehe

AdventuresAwait · 07/07/2021 19:29

Oh @GWhiteley, that's so lovely! Very special.
I don't know what to get yet but my Mum has knitted a newborn cardigan so it will be something to go with that.

Kirky658 · 07/07/2021 19:42

@gwhiteley great minds on the finishing work front and your outfit sounds lovely, what a fab idea ❤️

Just moved the moses basket into our room so we get used to it... Feels weird haha

Noodles4Me · 07/07/2021 20:36

@AdventuresAwait I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow. It is amazing but very odd when you can feel the shape of a foot though! Shock

Hopefulmummie · 07/07/2021 20:54

Is anyone else annoyed seeing the crowds at Wembley? As good as it is things getting back to normal it sickens me that my hospital is still only allowing 1 birthing partner and you have to attend induction alone or admissions if you have reduced movements but 67 thousand football fans allowed into a stadium together...

unicornpower · 07/07/2021 20:59

@Hopefulmummie my understanding is that it's upto each NHS trust what they do regarding partners attending appointments and I think the actual government guidance is to allow partners to appointments and more than one birthing partner, hopefully yours will open up soon? I think more and more are and hopefully by September it'll all be back to normal (ish). As annoying as it must be to see Wembley, I think all had to provide proof of a negative test and/or double vaccination before attending (My friend is there and it was a requirement!) Not ideal but try not to be too disheartened xxxx

Hopefulmummie · 07/07/2021 21:08

@unicornpower i know they did but my partner is fully vaccinated and would happily take a covid test to be allowed into hospital with me during the full labour process and after birth.

unicornpower · 07/07/2021 21:34

@Hopefulmummie maybe he'll be given the option? Our trust is allowing more and more and hopefully everywhere else will start being more realistic about allowing more people at appointments, it sucka the NHS is such a postcode lottery with what they allow

Hopefulmummie · 07/07/2021 21:37

@unicornpower i know it should be one rule for all. Im in Northern Ireland and hospitals here only starting letting partners to all scans and appointments in may.. Alot longer behind england so im not hopeful for things easing before September

CherLW · 07/07/2021 21:49

Hello everyone 😊 just reading up on all things hospital bag related… I’ve seen people suggest taking shampoo/conditioner… is that being a bit optimistic? So far all I’ve got ready is a lip balm!!

Kirky658 · 07/07/2021 21:58

There's a review of the restrictions taking place at our hospital now so let's see...

unicornpower · 07/07/2021 22:03

@Hopefulmummie we've been so lucky with ours but the cases in our area have stayed lowish so thats probably why, I know the hospitals in our nearest city are allowing partners for full labour and scans etc now so hopefully not much longer for you guys xx

Hopefulmummie · 07/07/2021 22:15

@unicornpower yeah hopefully they start to go by cases as Northern Irelands total daily cases have been around 60-150 each day now for weeks

AdventuresAwait · 07/07/2021 22:59

I'm taking shampoo and conditioner @CherLW! I've also packed dry shampoo, toothpaste/brush, shower gel, deodorant, cleanser and moisturiser 😊

CherLW · 07/07/2021 23:03

@AdventuresAwait I guess it’s better to have it than not! I have all the other things on my list so what’s 2 more bottles 😂

SillyBry · 07/07/2021 23:16

@CherLW I don’t think I bothered last time. I might take a travel set with me because they are so big otherwise. But we were home the next day. Take a towel as hospital towels are hideous generally and the post birth shower is fabulous! (Even if it looks like a scene from psycho!) 🤣
My friend took a hair dryer, straighteners and makeup with her… none of those things even crossed my mind! We were home the next day 🤣
So really it depends how you feel about these things!

AdventuresAwait · 07/07/2021 23:30

@SillyBry, @CherLW, I'm also taking travel sizes. Also, for me, it was worth considering how long I could be in as they may need to monitor baby after birth due to my gestational diabetes. So that makes a difference for me personally.

Sceptre86 · 08/07/2021 00:33

@CherLW I have previously had sections and was encouraged to shower once the catheter was removed so I did pack shampoo and conditioner. You might just fancy a shower after the birth anyway to just freshen up. First time around I took makeup too, second time I didn't, not too sure if I should or not this time.

@Hopefulmummie I hear you. In my area dh can now come to consultant appointments with me when they are in person (hardly ever) and is allowed to come to the hospital if I am sent for tests or monitoring. My midwife has said that she prefers to see the women only so he isn't able to come to those appointments (I know not every man would want to but he does). I am only allowed one visitor at the hospital so kids won't be able to visit me or see their baby sister straight away, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but it smarts when I see the football. Previously dh has been allowed to visit from 8am to 10pm, the times have now changed to 1-8pm. They make a big song and dance about how staff will help support mothers who have had a section or traumatic birth. From my previous experiences pre covid they were just too short staffed to be able to do anything like that, my dh and mum were a godsend and really took care of me till I was on my feet. My dh will be double jabbed and would happily do a lateral flow test so if thousands of unrelated spectators can sit together why can he not be with his wife?
