Thanks @SillyBry & @Kirky658 I'm going to have a look at both of these & get them ordered along with sheets & blankets.

Is it worth getting the waterproof sheet to go under the sheet? As this is my first baby this part is new to me! Someone suggested a really good one & again I didn't take a screen shot of the conversation, thinking I'd remember!

@crobo87 sounds like you've had an awful time of it recently, hopefully the blood pressure medication does its thing. Good news baby was ok

bewitchingnight · 05/07/2021 20:06

Oh @crobo87 hopefully it's just a precaution and like others have said it's probably a good sign that it's not been rushed through. Hope the week goes quickly for you.

@MrsTD88 great news about your growth scan

@KHR1 hope you get to your appointment and your daughter feels better!

I want to pack my hospital bag but need to wash some little clothes first, I have six sleepsuits / vests on the list which I must have picked up from a recommendation somewhere but not sure where or why six! I think because of GD we'll be in for at least 24 hours, I have no idea how quickly I might get through six vests?!

AdventuresAwait · 05/07/2021 20:23

Great news about your GTT result and growth scan @MrsTD88 xx

GWhiteley · 05/07/2021 20:34

Ordered my mattress & sheets from Asda as they looked really good, and got my cellular blankets from very as really good price. Feel slightly more organised!

Kirky658 · 05/07/2021 20:44

@gwhiteley exactly the same as me, hehe, great minds! The quality of the sheets from Asda and the blankets from Very are great too.

GWhiteley · 05/07/2021 20:47

@Kirky658 looking forward to them arriving & trying them out. Have you bothered with a waterproof sheet?

Kirky658 · 05/07/2021 20:49

@gwhiteley I haven't to be honest. I saw that with the moses mattress we've ordered that it has a cover you can wash, so I was thinking well if the nappy can be changed regularly, she will be in that + best +blanket so should be OK. But I could be being incredibly naive 😂 tbh I just feel better knowing she has something and somewhere to sleep now x

MrsTD88 · 05/07/2021 23:40

@Gwhiteley I've gone for a waterproof sheet as our daughter had a lot of mucus for the first few weeks and we had the odd nappy leak. It just saved having to wash the mattress and we could whip it off, throw on a new sheet and have her back in there relatively quickly. In her first 24 hours in hospital I lost count of the amount of times I had to change her sheets.

GWhiteley · 06/07/2021 08:37

@MrsTD88 so you haven't got any normal sheets, just the waterproof ones? Cani ask which ones you went for in the end?

MrsTD88 · 06/07/2021 08:56

@Gwhiteley sorry I typed that reply half asleep. I have waterproof sheet for underneath and a normal fitted sheet for on top. Someone recommended the DuDu n Girlie waterproof sheets (I got them from Amazon) and I got the FYLO fitted sheets as they do different sizes for moses basket and Tutti Bambini next to me.

GWhiteley · 06/07/2021 08:57

Hanks @MrsTD88 I'll have a look 😊

bewitchingnight · 06/07/2021 13:16

Had a really nice midwife appointment this morning, heartbeat all good and she was able to tell what position the baby was in - she's getting head down but sort of diagonally so not quite there yet. Movements had been feeling different this week so it must be the change in position.

Next appointment is the 34 week one and that sounds very close to the end doesn't it!

Kirky658 · 06/07/2021 14:03

@bewitchingnight how exciting! I'm excited for my 31 week next week now to see what position she's in, they couldn't find her head last time lol.

Anyone else feel cautiously optimistic about the maternity restrictions maybe being lessened now after yesterday's announcement?

Newmum110 · 06/07/2021 14:10

Does anyone else have a low lying placenta? Does this automatically mean a C-Section? Also does anyone know if it means you would have C-Section ahead of due date? Don't have an appointment for another few weeks & its beginning to hit home that this may be a reality for me

Bubbles1st · 06/07/2021 15:10

@Newmum110 when did you last have a scan, mine was low lying on scans up until 22 weeks but when I had my 28 scan it had cleared.

If it's low lying and covering the cervix then you will need a c section and baby physically cannot come out. If it is low lying and not giving enough clearance it means you are more at risk of bleeding but it doesn't rule out a vaginal birth.

This is what I gathered until mine moved and wasn't a problem anymore.

They can check the position right up to 36 weeks before making the decision about c section I believe which would Usually be done before due date to prevent spontaneous labour.

When is your next scan?

Newmum110 · 06/07/2021 15:20

@Bubbles1st thanks so much for that. I had my last scan at 26 weeks & next one at 32 weeks (I'm currently 30 weeks). The seemed keen not to get into the what ifs as they said anything could happen but I would just prefer to have myself mentally prepared. I did Google but I could only find worse case scenario information!!!!! All the hospital really reiterated was if there was any bleeding to come straight in but luckily that has not happened. I will be working until 38 weeks so am beginning to wonder if I should look at an alternative if I could be brought in early. Hopefully the scan in 2 weeks will make things a lot clearer. Thanks again

JasVL · 06/07/2021 17:10

@Kirky658 oh I’m so hoping that they relax the restrictions now!! I think this is my biggest worry really. My friend had her baby at the beginning of June and her partner was only allowed there for the last stage of labour, stayed for 2 hours and was sent home! Fingers crossed ours can all be with us for the whole time by September!!

Has anyone started packing their hospital bags yet? I’m 31 weeks and starting to freak out that I’m not organised even though it’s probably too early!

SP2Bx · 06/07/2021 19:10

@Kirky658 I would like to think so! Although our trust seem really good anyway to be honest, partners allowed to all appointments (they just have to wait outside rather than in the waiting room and then you phone them when you go in) and from what I can see on the website we're allowed 2 birthing partners again too!

@Newmum110 Yes mine was low-lying at my 20 week scan and they haven't booked me in to check it until 32 weeks. They said 9/10 times it moves up out of the way. They told me it only has to be 2cm clear of the cervix for them to be happy to let you go for a vaginal birth, so providing it's not covering it completely you've got a good chance. I'd say cross that bridge when you come to it at your scan. At the end of the day, if a planned c-section is the safest way for both you and baby then that's got to be the best right? :)

Kirky658 · 06/07/2021 19:19

@jasVL @sp2bx fingers crossed for some good news then!

Haven't started hospital bag here yet, I'm 30 weeks tomorrow. Need to order a few little bits e.g the ready made bottles of formula milk just in case then I think I'll make a start. DH suggested getting a disposable toothbrush, spare toothpaste etc so I'm not stressing and can leave the bag basically fully packed.

AdventuresAwait · 06/07/2021 19:23

Hi @JasVL, yes I've pretty much packed my hospital bags. It has been really exciting to do them. Just a couple of things to add this week. Early but nice to know they're there & I've enjoyed doing it.

Newmum110 · 06/07/2021 19:27

@SP2Bx that's great thanks, hopefully there will be movement & I would definitely be of the opinion of leaving the decision to the experts as I want safest delivery. Best of luck with it all.

SP2Bx · 06/07/2021 19:40

That's a good idea from your hubby @Kirky658 !

I'm only 29 weeks tomorrow so am not planning on starting to pack my hospital bag until the start of August when I'll be 32 weeks-ish. Do we think that's too late?! I've got a fair few bits I need to get for it and the list just keeps growing! 🙈

Also on the ready-made formula, am I right in thinking there's a brand out there which comes with a teet that you screw straight to the bottle? Can't find them anywhere and really don't want the faff of sterilising in hospital!

Kirky658 · 06/07/2021 19:44

@sp2bx oooo I'm not sure on the formula actually good shout I'll have a look!

We've got our antenatal classes this weekend, quite excited!

AdventuresAwait · 06/07/2021 20:00

Something like this @SP2Bx?

September 2021 - Thread 7 is here
SP2Bx · 06/07/2021 21:07

@AdventuresAwait Yesss that's them! I found cow & gate ones online in the end too, looks like they come in a box, whereas I was looking just at the individual bottles/cartons in the shops... durrrr! Hoping I won't even need to use them but better to be safe than sorry :)
