Oops, hit send too soon but think in reality most rooms stay between 17 and 20 degrees in which case either tog would be fine with more or less clothes! They come with a little guide on what to dress them in in them

GWhiteley · 29/06/2021 22:35

@AdventuresAwait I wonder if that's what I've been feeling recently, I couldn't workout what it was but it's like a tightening almost around my pubic bone & is actually quite uncomfortable. Never heard that phrase before!

CherLW · 29/06/2021 22:38

@SillyBry that’s a bargain for the Facebook finds! Definitely makes it easier when they won’t be in it for long. I was just going to buy a couple of 6-18 month ones and then I got stuck on the tog! It will be March time… I got the 0-6 on Snuz and they say a 2.5 can be used all year round! I guess with British weather we never really know… it’s June now and I still have a bit thick duvet on!

CherLW · 29/06/2021 22:42

@MrsTD88 that’s a good list of things! I saw the maternity pads on boots.. think it was 10 in a pink pack, Ive added those to my basket and the Maternity bed mats. I need to get cotton wool, good reminder! Thank you x

Kirky658 · 30/06/2021 06:42

@sillybry that was my thoughts on the 2.5 tog too. You can always dress baby in less clothing!

We are very lucky on the bath things front my parents put us together a baby box with cotton wool, nappy sacks, baby wipes, baby bath, hairbrush etc. So that's ticked a fair bit off my list!

I am trying to be careful where I buy stuff from as got ripped off in boots the other week as it was so much cheaper elsewhere, just need to find the time to sit down and look at who's got the best deals...

Noodles4Me · 30/06/2021 13:14

Afternoon all. Had my 32 week growth scan. Baby is growing but trajectory slowed so go to go back in 2 weeks.

Consultant approved ELCS!!! 😁 No problems at all, so relieved. But it'll either be at 39 weeks or 38 depending how he grows.

AdventuresAwait · 30/06/2021 13:30

@Noodles4Me, yay to the ELCS being approved! Hopefully I'll get a yes too. It must be a relief to know they've agreed. Pleased for you xx

crobo87 · 30/06/2021 15:40

My GP has referred my for physio & prescribed me some cocodamol for my back.
It's been so bad today, just waiting to collect the prescription. Hoping it helps 🤞🏻

Kirky658 · 30/06/2021 16:16

@Noodles4Me oo exciting!

I'm having such a bad time of it with work atm. It's problem after problem I'm trying to deal with and it's really stressing me out to the point that DH just got in from work and I burst into floods of tears, I just feel like I can't cope with the levels of stress I'm dealing with (or trying to). I get a weeks sick pay so I could take a week off, but I'm worried that would make things worse as i would have to go back and catch up on everything that piled off while I was off! Can't afford to be on SSP for another 4 weeks either pre finishing work. My boss already doesn't understand, I told her I was exhausted last week and she just wasn't supportive at all. Just at a loss really. X

crobo87 · 30/06/2021 16:19

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time @Kirky658
When do you finish for maternity leave? Could you finish early? Xx

Kirky658 · 30/06/2021 16:23

@crobo87 thanks hun. I'm finishing 13th August to take 2 weeks hols then start mat leave start of September. Can't start mat leave any earlier as I want to take a full year and if I start it any earlier I'll need to go back before the end of August (there's a big conference every year abroad end of August which I want to avoid with an almost 1 year old) x

crobo87 · 30/06/2021 16:27

@Kirky658 my maternity leave dates are the same.
Maybe take a week of sick and see how you feel after?
Do you managers know how you feel? May be worth talking to them if approachable xx

Kirky658 · 30/06/2021 16:31

@crobo87 awww twinnies! We can count down together. I've got a week off first week of August too as it's our anniversary.
I've tried to talk to my manager and she tries to be understanding but she's not got kids, has never been pregnant, so doesn't really get how exhausting pregnancy can me. She is also on annual leave this week so no one to discuss it with.

crobo87 · 30/06/2021 16:36

@Kirky658 oh that's such a shame

I'm really lucky to still be working from home. I've taken Friday off for most weeks until I'm on leave to try and ease my loads a bit. Work have been really good with my annual leave and I've taken 2 weeks before maternity + all my bank holidays have been given to me so used the remaining to reduce my working week from 14th July.

It's such a shame not every company are understanding, I think maternity leave, flexible working, holidays etc is really not a well thought out process

unicornpower · 30/06/2021 17:34

@Kirky658 and @crobo87 I'm finishing on the q3th August too as had more leave left than I thought, YIPPEEEEE! @kirky658 I think you definitely need to speak to your boss, you naturally won't be able to cope with the same amount as you could pre pregnancy and just because she doesn't have kids it doesn't change that fact. My boss is understanding but I'm having a stressful nightmare with HR, 5 weeks ago I submitted my matb1 and maternity form and haven't heard anything, im on leave this week and I will be going mad if they haven't replied by the time I'm back as it'll be nearly 7 weeks and I'll only have like 5 weeks left? I'm going to join the union just in case as I can see them just bothering and tbh I can't deal with the stress. I fully sympathise though and some time off will do you the world of good xx

MrsTD88 · 30/06/2021 18:01

@Kirky658 so sorry your work is stressing you out so much. I'm feeling very much the same with work at the moment too so you have my sympathy. No one gets it and my superior doesn't have kids so just doesn't understand the sheer exhaustion some days and the hormonal aspect. I've resorted to counting down how many working days I have left, so sad but so satisfying at the same time... 38 to go!! Also have a week's holiday at beginning of August to break it up. It may be worth taking a couple of days off sick just to refuel and be able to face the next few weeks before your holiday?

bewitchingnight · 30/06/2021 18:04

Sorry to hear that @Kirky658 I'd be tempted to go for the week off sick, you can catch up on a bit of rest and recharge ready for one less week back. It's so hard when people aren't empathetic.

My work have just done some job cuts across people with my role which have been in the air for months. I've still got the same job role thankfully. but I'll be working with all new people, new base office etc. Tricky to start something new with six weeks left to go before maternity leave! I want to make a good impression but was really hoping to be able to start winding down...

Kirky658 · 30/06/2021 18:52

Thanks all for your advice, I think I will chat to my boss next week and see what she suggests as I am really struggling. To top off a really shitty day, back from the shop and the dog has eaten DH's birthday headphones that cost me £100.

FTEngineerM · 30/06/2021 18:57

Oh my god @Kirky658 🤭 could not get worse! Hope the rest of your evening gives you a chance to relax

RaeRae84 · 30/06/2021 19:16

@SillyBry I hope your daughter is ok now! Sounds like she's had a bloody rough time 😔

@MrsTD88 it's not sad to count the days down. I did from the day I told work back in March 😂 thanks for the boots message, ordered bits for my hospital bag now so feel a bit better about that.

@Kirky658 I feel your pain. I've had probably the worst month this year so far, I feel like I'm being punished for leaving. I am very lucky that I am taking my maternity early as I don't plan on returning so finish on Friday. I've been in tears most Sundays through anxiety of going in. I hope I can actually enjoy my pregnancy for the last 2 months now I will be free

Scotti84 · 30/06/2021 20:00

@Kirky658 can your Dr sign you off for pregnancy related reasons? We have a thing here called beschäftigungsverbot which basically means banned from work and its different to normal sick pay, i guess its most like being suspended on full pay. I got put on it last week as despite what had been agreed with my boss I was going in to find I was completely alone on shift with a full hotel of people to do breakfast for. No breaks, no help, nothing. Dr said they were putting too much on me and gave me a letter for my boss to say I wouldn't be allowed to work anymore. I know things are different here but maybe there's something similar they could sort for you?

Kirky658 · 30/06/2021 21:41

@raerae84 sorry to hear you've been struggling too, glad you are finishing soon, exciting!

@scotti84 i imagine my gp could sign me off for pregnancy related reasons - but i would only get my first week full pay and the other time at statutory as per company policy unfortunately which we just can't afford.

To add insult to injury on a really awful day, I found out i have missed out on my sales target by £1500 - which would have been a bonus of about £250 - and our TV has broken. Won't work at all. Time to call it a day I think.

GWhiteley · 30/06/2021 23:19

@Kirky658 I think @Scotti84 is on the right lines, I'm sure there is something over here where you're suspended on full pay due to pregnancy if you're unable to do your job & they can't give you work that's manageable. And it's government led, not company led I believe.

The attached is a section from the h&s executive website, that our health & safely bod sent to me. I'd try & have a proper look into it if I were you

MrsTD88 · 01/07/2021 12:12

@RaeRae84 glad I'm not the only one counting down! So sorry you're finding work tough, it sounds awful. No problem, my big parcel from Boots just arrived so exciting 😁

@Kirky658 it sounds like you're having a right time of it at the moment. So sorry, hope today is a better day for you.

Kirky658 · 01/07/2021 14:53

@gwhiteley sorry just saw your post. Unfortunately I don't think it would fly as I'm working from home and there isn't really anything they can do to help with the stress levels tbh. I'm going to chat to my boss when she's back next week to see what we can do to alleviate some of the pressures.
