Hi all!

Just got my BFP! Approximately 3 weeks and 6 days. Due date calculator has put me to give birth around 8th January. Feeling so nervous, have had two MCs and then thankfully a much loved DC. Symptoms currently are extremely sore boobs, mild cramping, and upper hip / thigh pain on my right leg! Would love to chat to others who've just found out and want somewhere to refer back to!

@Blueeyedgirl21 yeah apparently having an empty stomach can really bring the nausea on so many women eat more smaller meals throughout the day to avoid it. At the moment I am just hungry all the time and so tired, like I go to bed at 9pm ahahaha. Oh and the ligament pains, yowch.

Gnashaloulou · 20/05/2021 11:30

@ijustgiveup

Can I join in? I found out yesterday, it say on my clear blue test that I'm 2-3 weeks which I know is wrong.

I'm 38, my youngest is 16 and I have no idea what anyone is talking about 🙈

Hahaha, same here!! Completely clueless, also 38 and have a 16 yo!

I got my bfp almost two weeks ago now. Still in a complete daze...

Hi all,

May I join? Got my BFP yesterday, this is my first so I’m really nervous. I’m about 4 weeks according to my app (predicted due date 27th Jan). Already needing the toilet every 20 mins and having hot flushes.

Trying to think of excuses as to why I can’t drink at my friends hen do in two weeks. Anyone got any great excuses?

Missingcoffee22 · 20/05/2021 13:52

@Jefferson5 congratulations!
Last time I either pretended to drink alcohol, or was on a health kick. It isn't easy!

Congrats!! This is my first and I'm terrified too... The drinking thing is so hard isn't it! I keep having to make up excuses to not go to the pub because I know that if I go everyone will 100% know somethings up if I don't have a pint! I thought of going to the bar and getting my own drink and just pretending it was a vodka lemonade or something when it's just lemonade. But that's kind of impossible when it's nearly all table service at the moment 😩 My only other excuse is a UTI because my friends know I've suffered with them in the past, and people don't tend to ask too much detail 😂
LilmissCa · 20/05/2021 14:13

@Jefferson5 congrats!!

Roping a friend in can help!
Table service makes it impossible to pretend to drink these days!

An infection / antibiotics is prob the only other option. Or having to drive for whatever reason!

When I was 8wks pregnant with my DS I was on my friends hen do in Portugal. I roped in a few friends to help cover for me without planning on telling the whole group. Then on the 2nd night a bar gave us all free cocktails, I secretly changed mines to non alcoholic & he landed down at the table announcing to all here's your non alcoholic cocktail lol

Jefferson5 · 20/05/2021 15:11

Thanks all for the congrats and advice :).

I think I will say I have a UTI so will be on antibiotics which is awkward but as you say they won’t ask questions! The hen knows I’m trying so will probably twig but I will deny until a bit later.

Oh no, what a nightmare about announcing you had a non alcoholic drink in front of everyone. Did they question it at all?

LilmissCa · 20/05/2021 15:25

@Jefferson5 oh yeah they'll all knew then!! But it was fine, meant I could stop my hiding it & sneak off to bed early! Although spending a weekend sober on a hen weekend has put me off them for life 🤣
Would be a different story this time round with my DS I don't want many people to know until I can tell him after 12wk scan

Jefferson5 · 20/05/2021 16:26

@LilmissCa nothing worse than drunk people when you’re sober 😂

How many weeks are you?

Is there anything to stop you stressing about MC?

LilmissCa · 20/05/2021 16:35

@Jefferson5 I'm 6 wks today. I had a CP in Jan, so I'm past the stage I had that, I've allowed myself to get excited now as it's sunk in.
I did do a lot of tests, including the digital clear blues to see 3+ (warning these can take a while to show 3+ & could cause you worrying even more). I've booked a private scan for 2wks time, counting down the days till then but already feel anxious bout what will be seen!

Jefferson5 · 20/05/2021 16:45

@LilmissCa sorry to hear about the CP. How many weeks do they usually happen? I’m just about 4 weeks so I’m anxious.

I’ve taken the clear blue digital and got 2-3 weeks quickly so I am happy for now. Got another one left to take next week to see 3+.

Aww good luck for the appointment, not long to wait! I’ve got my 8 week appointment booked in a months time. Do you have to book a private scan separately or is this part of the appointment?
Sorry for so many questions

It's so hard not to worry, I'm 5 weeks tomorrow and planning to book a private scan for when I'm just over 7 weeks. But I really hope they'll be able to hear the heartbeat then otherwise I think it'll make my worrying worse!! Have you booked yours for 8 weeks?

Blueeyedgirl21 · 20/05/2021 17:07

I’m wanting to do a private scan next weekend (birthday weekend) but will only be about 7+3 so going to try and wait a bit longer

dvd21 · 20/05/2021 18:07

Hi everyone,

Hope it's not too late to join.

I got my BFP a while back and due on 2nd Jan 😊 have been in a state of shock ever since because we have been TTC for 2 years and this month I was referred to the fertility unit for investigations! These needed to start on the first day of my period, and when it didn't come, it was just surreal.

This is my first pregnancy so everything is new, unfamiliar and a little scary. Because I had been referred and I was experiencing pain, I had a scan at 6+4 and saw a heartbeat.

Now I've started experiencing bad nausea. Supposed to be doing a long car journey tomorrow - 4 hours - and panicking a bit. I've tried lots of things already including mint and ginger but everything leaves such a sour taste in my mouth. Any tips?!

Congratulations to you all and thank you already for all the insights on here - I've already learned so much.

Missingcoffee22 · 20/05/2021 18:43

@dvd21 congratulations! I find that the best way for me is constantly nibbling things like digestives or toast. Good luck!

LilmissCa · 20/05/2021 18:50

@Jefferson5 my CP happened about 4w4d in Jan, at 4w 2d I was getting 1-2wks on digital then this time I got 2-3wks at same time so levels definitely higher. Then got 3+ when I was 5w 2d!
I have the scan booked privately, cost £100 in Northern Ireland, diff prices everywhere, think that's on the higher range.
The 8wk appt will be your booking appt, midwife will go through a lot of Qs about your health, family history, partners history. NHS doesn't usually scan you until 12wks unless bleeding /cramps. It's a long wait till then!

LilmissCa · 20/05/2021 18:53

@Anon222021 yes I'm booked for Wednesday week, I'll be 7w6d then.. hopefully enough to pick up. My brother is coming home a few days later so would like to tell him as were quite close all being well

Jefferson5 · 20/05/2021 19:16

@LilmissCa it will be a long wait I can imagine already! Thanks for your advice :)

TiffanyAR · 21/05/2021 06:38

Hi ladies,
I am a little worried because my ligament pains/cramping has stopped since yesterday morning and I am wondering if that could be a sign of MC... because I MCd last year I suppose I will get stressed by every little change in symptoms... I just need someone to tell me that symptoms come and go and vary from day to day or week to week I think to calm down Grin
How is everyone else feeling? Congrats to you newcomers by the way!

Missingcoffee22 · 21/05/2021 08:35

@TiffanyAR my symptoms vary massively!

Mazblue86 · 21/05/2021 08:54

Yeah my symptoms vary a lot too!

TiffanyAR · 21/05/2021 08:58

Phew! Thanks @Mazblue86 and @Missingcoffee22 ! I tend to stress out over every symptom or lack thereof thinking back to my MC last year and comparing... :(
I seem to have read something about a Facebook group? Who can add me in? :)

Missingcoffee22 · 21/05/2021 09:04

@TiffanyAR I'll dm you the link!

AAR25 · 21/05/2021 09:45

@Missingcoffee22 please could I have the link too?

Will my Facebook friends be able to see the group or is it hidden? 🙈

Missingcoffee22 · 21/05/2021 09:47

@AAR25 It is private so people can see the group but not any of the members if that makes sense? Also the name doesn't have pregnancy or babies or mumsnet in it just in case!
