Welcome and congrats to everyone who has joined!

@Rach921 your 4d scan is so clear!

@deedeebythesea it would be lovely if they did more or a later scan for everyone. I always wonder how they pick things like breech babies up if they don't scan after 20 weeks.

I'm having some eczema flare ups at the moment. It started with dry, cracking, bleeding hands but now I've got rashes that go round my wrist and up my forearm too. Aveeno helps but back at work tomorrow so think it's going to get a load worse with all the extra handwashing

Does anyone know which hay-fever tablets are safe in pregnancy?

Squibble84 · 18/04/2021 18:01

@Catkin7 it’s a private, hidden one just for ladies in this chat so there’s a small group of us. We tend to post about different things on there and as it’s easier, there’s lots more photos of things like bumps and baby bits that go up there!

@SK28 great, if you private message me your Facebook profile name, I can add you!

Squibble84 · 18/04/2021 18:03

@SP2Bx I love Matalan for baby clothes! So gorgeous and at a good price as well!

FTEngineerM · 18/04/2021 18:22

Hope tomorrow goes well @Squibble84

Bubbles1st · 18/04/2021 19:08

@Catkin7 we already know we are having a boy 🥰 couldn't resist a private scan.

Evening ladies, welcome to the new guys! So nice to see all the names in a list, seems to make things more real.

I've got my 20 week scan on Wed so anxiety is back up again. I have days when my bump feels huge and hard and sometimes when it's it's bit softer and I think its not as big as I thought, is this normal? I'm assuming what and how much I eat might impact that too?

Also we're having to get a new bed, they're so expensive but ours is way too soft and I can't get comfy at night, I've got a pregnancy pillow, u shape but i end up kicking it away in the night. Anyone got advice on how best to use it? I didn't think back ache would start this soon!

Skymum82 · 18/04/2021 19:29

Can I be added the 22nd of September. Feels miles off lol

Kirky658 · 18/04/2021 19:37

Hiya @scotti84 my bump is tighter and smaller in the mornings and then larger and softer at night! I googled it and apparently its to do with the ligaments relaxing after holding it tight! 😊
I have my 20 week scan in 10 days... Really starting to feel terrified now but keeping it cheery where I can as we finally get to stop calling bub an 'it' haha xx

SP2Bx · 18/04/2021 19:43

@Scotti84 Mines exactly as @Kirky658 said, always rock hard in the mornings and squishier throughout the day... But I don't feel like it's grown much recently, maybe it's the changing shape, or that we're just getting used to it!

I'm also having the back ache with my new pregnancy pillow, it helps for getting to sleep but i get rid throughout the night because i just can't lie in the same position all night! I like a firm bed and ours is a bit too soft - bought it new a few months ago but just got the mattress that came with it thinking we'd get a better one but haven't got round to it yet! I think it's time!

Scotti84 · 18/04/2021 20:15

@Kirky658 thats good to know, i seem to notice things and worry more the week before a scan, is the 20 week scan also more intensive in England? Because i didnt have the invasive test to check for chromosome disorders this ones more detailed to see if anything is wrong with the development. Im sure it will be fine but i cant wait to get it done.

@SP2Bx yep im the same, i switch sides quite a lot and it gets annoying having to adjust it. I'm hoping it will calm down a bit when my body gets used to the changing... really hoping

Kirky658 · 18/04/2021 20:25

@sp2bx glad to hear I'm not alone with the bump changes! I'm also struggling to get comfy like yourself, originally I was sleeping on my side with the pregnancy pillow in front but now I have it behind me tucked between my knees. I keep getting sore bum muscles and omg. It hurts!
@scotti84 yep it's a very involved scan about 30 mins apparently checking for any abnormalities etc. I had the dual test for downs, Edwards and Pataus at 12 weeks so that's done at least. But just trying to keep going till the scan as hard as it is! Xx

deedeebythesea · 18/04/2021 20:49

@SK28 welcome to the group! So sorry about your previous losses. Sending lots of love!
@Catkin7 welcome! Something makes me think … a boy?
@Rach921 oh wow! I might have just changed my mind. I was thinking about booking a growth & presentation scan which not much different from 20w scan. Now I am desperate to see the features 😍

Definitely calling the MW tomorrow @FTEngineerM When it comes to medical/health concerns, I tend to brush things under the carpet because in my previous experiences (not pregnancy related) I would panic, call, make appointments and then be spoken to like a child who made a hoo-ha about nothing. Thank you encouraging me to address this & hope your sinus clears up soon! I think it was this Aveeno xx

mumof23188 · 18/04/2021 21:06

Interesting on the bump chat. Mine is still really soft and by the evening I’m so bloated. I’ve started to feel his little movements now which is lovely. Can’t believe we are nearing the half way Mark 😍. 20 weeks on Thursday and almost 5 days until my scan! Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend in the sunshine ☀️

AdventuresAwait · 18/04/2021 21:48

@mumof23188, I'm 20 weeks on Thursday too and excited to be reaching the 20 week mark! I've not felt movements yet though (I don't think). What do yours feel like?

CherylLW · 19/04/2021 08:25

@AdventuresAwait I’m now 20+3 and had my 20 week scan on Friday just gone. I’ve felt some movements but they feel more like taps really, nothing too intense.
I asked the lady when I had my scan about the anterior placenta and she confirmed it still is... she said it’s ‘anterior high’ which she said will cause no problem, will just alter what I feel from the baby.
Hope you’re doing well 😊

Taybz · 19/04/2021 08:42

Welcome and congratulations to anyone new to the group! 🤗

I can't believe it's almost the mid-point now. I've finally got my 16 wk appointment at 19 weeks in a few days! Any tips on what I should ask? I know some places let you hear the heartbeat but what else happens at those appointments?

AdventuresAwait · 19/04/2021 09:03

Thanks @CherylLW 😊

@Taybz, at my 16 week appointment my midwife talked through my consultant appointment notes, checked my urine and blood pressure, did the carbon monoxide test and asked me if I had any questions. I asked if it was part of the appointment to hear the heartbeat and she said they do if requested (but not automatically as they don't want to worry people if they can't find it). But she found it straight away which was a great way to finish the appointment.
She also booked me in for a home visit at 22 weeks.

Allicit · 19/04/2021 10:03

Hi all, had my 20 week scan today and another little boy to add to our tribe 💙💙 we do seem to create a large array of tiny penises between us!! But he’s healthy if refusing to move out of my pelvis. People who have been mentioning eczema- weirdly mine has gotten a little better since pregnancy but was told it can go either way. Had my whooping cough today but feel fine following it. Are people considering getting COVID vaccine? I am definitely weighing up my options but would definitely wait until baby is viable before I did. Are people buying things yet? I want to but am FTM and every time I start to look just get overwhelmed!!

mumof23188 · 19/04/2021 10:14

@AdventuresAwait yes we are due date twins aren’t we 😊. Crazy we are almost half way! I’d describe them as like someone tapping there fingers on you. Not feeling him consistently but I feel him move Atleast daily. Baby number 3 for me so not sure if that’s why I’ve noticed. I do have an anterior placenta aswell. Movements can start anywhere between 18-24 weeks so you will feel your baby girl soon 🥰

mumof23188 · 19/04/2021 10:16

@Allicit congratulations 💙. Glad all went well at your scan. Yes lots of boys here 🤣💙

unicornpower · 19/04/2021 11:46

@Allicit Ahh congratulations! i genuinely can't believe how many boys there are! its so cute!

AdventuresAwait · 19/04/2021 12:54

@Allicit, congratulations on finding out! Xx

@mumof23188, sounds lovely, can't wait! ❤

bewitchingnight · 19/04/2021 13:40

Congrats @Allicit 💙

There's so much to think about buying isn't there! We're holding off until after the 20 week scan (Friday!) Am hoping to pick up a little outfit or something on the way back from the scan if all good news. Other than that I started a long list on my phone that I keep adding to.

Thanks to whoever mentioned the baby academy free online class a while ago - probably a couple of threads back. My DH and I did one on Saturday and it was really interesting.

SP2Bx · 19/04/2021 13:55

Ooh @bewitchingnight I did the one on Saturday morning too! There were certainly some good hints and tips in there :) so yes, thank you whoever recommended!

2021mumma · 19/04/2021 15:01

Hi Ladies I’m 20 weeks tomorrow like you @AdventuresAwait I haven’t really felt anything. Anyone else feeling movement? Currently awaiting my 20 week scan but getting a little anxious can’t feel much xx
