Thinking of you @CherLW it'll be a strange day but you'll get through it! Lots of love x

bewitchingnight · 15/05/2021 11:19

Ooh @Kirky658 let us know what you get, we need a chest of drawers because the bin bags of baby stuff isn't cutting it Grin

Mamabearwhere · 15/05/2021 11:24

Hi ladies. Haven’t been on here for a while! Hope everything’s well with everyone. Few things I wanted to bring up and see how others are feeling

  • swelling! My feet and hands have been quite swollen, I’ve had to take my rings off and my feet are in agony by the late afternoon. I’ve ordered a foot spa to use at home feel like it would help. I’m not having much salt and drinking plenty of water but not helping.
  • baby movement. I can definitely feel movement but it feels really far back towards my spine. I haven’t felt any strong sharp movements towards the front of my belly and hardly feel anything on the surface but I definitely feel stuff on the inside happening. Maybe he’s in a strange position or just not at the front of my belly.
  • backache!!!! My back is in agony, it feels like I have a huge knot in the middle of my back and it really hurts in some movements/positions. Have tried to do stretching and yoga but no change. Booked a maternity massage so hopefully they will help.
  • sex! Or lack of!!! I feel so so sorry for my poor DH but I can’t think of anything of anything I want to do less than having sex. He’s been amazingly understanding throughout the past 5 months with morning sickness and nausea in the first trimester and up to now but i feel like the longer I avoid it the more I dislike the idea. Sometimes I force myself to do it and enjoy it but can’t say it’s very exciting.
  • tiredness. I still haven’t really got my full energy back, I get so tired so quickly doing small things. I come home from the a very quick and short school run and literally need a sit down on the sofa for half an hour. I’m getting less patient with my kids who seem to be allergic to me sitting down because the minute they see me sit they want something. So fed up.

On positive news, I have requested to go on mat leave from July so I am COUNTING DOWN!!! I cannot wait to have the summer off with my kids and just do not a lot.

Squibble84 · 15/05/2021 12:59

@Mamabearwhere I’m with you on the tiredness! The second I sit on the couch my toddler is trying to pull me off to play with her and I feel so guilty but I have no energy! That’s good news about your mat leave, I’m on the countdown to July as well!

Sex wise - I don’t enjoy sex in pregnancy and I didn’t last time either. I can count on one hand the amount of times we’ve had sex since the sickness hit at week 6, and even though it’s getting better now, I’m getting fatter and achey, and even though I know it’s fine for the baby, I’ve always felt weird about having sex past a certain stage in pregnancy when I have a huge bump!

Baby is still quite small so can hide easily! Do you have an anterior placenta?

Kirky658 · 15/05/2021 13:17

@bewitchingnight we've gone for the HAUGA in white. Steal at £75 👌

@mamabearwhere lack of sex a big thing here too. I'm so exhausted I rarely have the energy tbh. I feel sorry for DH as we've gone from ttc sex every other day to once a week if we are lucky. We did squeeze a good session in last night before I started my thrush pessaries so we had to use a condom, that was entertaining!! Also not feeling much movement here, every now and again. I have an anterior placenta. Trying not to worry about it too much. My back also hurts depending on what shoes I wear x

SillyBry · 15/05/2021 13:30

Sex is appalling here too! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣
These poor husbands! When I do get round to it, it’s actually better than I expect... but my sex drive is on the floor so I never fancy it and I’m so tired that I’m usually asleep before he gets to bed!
And now my belly is getting bigger, I feel a bit awkward and difficult without it feeling leaned on 🤣

Bubbles1st · 15/05/2021 15:10

Im trying really hard to keep my DP sexually entertained even if it isn't full sex. I'm guessing there will be even less when baby comes.

Last night I got all horny though whilst he was in the shower and he was pleasantly surprised to find me ready and waiting for him, so long as he doesn't get his hopes up going forward !

CherLW · 15/05/2021 15:16

Thank you @unicornpower ❤️

SillyBry · 15/05/2021 16:05

@Bubbles1st let’s hope we all get some of your enthusiasm!! 😉🤣
I have attempted to tidy my bikini line up today, even though it’s already involving some gymnastics trying to get to it round the bump! I mean, in another 4-5 weeks I won’t be able to see it, so I guess it won’t offend me! 🤣

Bubbles1st · 15/05/2021 16:07

@SillyBry well that's the thing caught me by surprise so I was un showered and Ungroomed, poor guy couldn't risk turning me down so claims he didn't notice either 🤣

OP posts:
SillyBry · 15/05/2021 19:31

@Bubbles1st 🤣🤣🤣 needs must and all that!!
I’m not sure that my cack handed attempts with a razor will make me any more attractive as the bump was definitely making it hard to know what I was doing... but I feel better for it anyway 🤣🤣

crobo87 · 15/05/2021 20:47

Probably tmi lol but has anyone get any tips for constipation? I've tried upping my fibre and water intake but I'm still struggling Confused

Poppins2016 · 15/05/2021 21:15

@crobo87 prunes really help me, I currently have a jumbo packet on the go! Pregnancy gives me horrible constipation and prunes are the only (natural) thing that do the trick.

GWhiteley · 16/05/2021 08:18

@SillyBry @Bubbles1st @Kirky658 @Mamabearwhere so glad I'm not on my own with the lack of sex thing!!

We haven't had sex since I found out I was pregnant (I'm 24 wks now) as I was too scared to try after a miscarriage last year & then felt massively unattractive as I started to get bigger. I have no sex drive whatsoever so try to keep hubby happy other ways instead!

Was thinking of getting a bikini wax a couple of weeks before baby is born so at least it's relatively neat for when the world & his wife will be looking, do you know if that would be ok?

unicornpower · 16/05/2021 10:08

@crobo87 I'm in the same boat, I am SO constipated and the trapped wind last night was horrific, I was doubled over in pain! Im going to get some lactulose today as that is allowed in pregnancy and helped.

I also had my Covid vaccine today! I weighed up the pros and cons and I think for me the risk of getting covid outweighs the possible risks of the vaccine. I work customer facing so makes sense!

Taybz · 16/05/2021 11:33

Morning everyone, hope you're all well! Looks like most of us are in the same boat with the sex thing! Poor husbands/partners 🤣

Has everyone received their Mat B1 certificate from their midwives? Just realised mine's pretty useless and hasn't even informed me about upcoming appointments. I've just gone the Gov website and it says 'It’s important that MAT B1s are issued:
• only when you are satisfied your patient is pregnant
• not more than 20 weeks before the EWC

I'm 21 wks now and haven't received anything. Wondering if it's too late. Also, when do you need to submit this to work?

Taybz · 16/05/2021 11:34

@Kirky658 thrush is also driving me mad! It keeps coming back and the pessaries are a nightmare! How are you coping?!

Mamabearwhere · 16/05/2021 11:46

@Taybz midwife usually gives you the matb1 on or after the 20 week appointment and not before. You could always call them and say they haven’t given it to you. I submitted mine to my employer on Friday, I’m 22 weeks.

@crobo87 I’ve gone from having really loose bowls for the most part of being pregnant to suddenly being very very constipated and having fissures etc. I got the same last pregnancies and found prunes and drinking warm water instead of cold really helpful! Mine got really bad after giving birth too so I am not looking forward to that

bewitchingnight · 16/05/2021 11:55

@Taybz I got mine from the hospital when I had my 20 week scan but I think you can also get from your GP as well as the midwife. I had to send a copy to work by 25 weeks, I think they say 15 weeks before your due date or something like that

@crobo87 it was so bad for me in the first trimester but has (touch wood) been ok after I had endless diet of prunes and prune juice (disgusting). Also some tmi tips I read were to get a little box or step to put your feet on when trying to go and also give yourself loads of time and not rush when you are in the loo

Noodles4Me · 16/05/2021 12:03

Thankfully I'm still very sexually active, apart from having to adjust positions all is good. It will be so weird immediately after baby is here as won't be having sex for six weeks and we've never gone more than 3 days!

My midwife appointment was good, someone different again as never see same one. Baby even kicked her as she examined me. He is a very wriggly baby and he hates being prodded!

Only thing I'm struggling with it tiredness and itchiness everywhere! Shock

SillyBry · 16/05/2021 14:41

@Taybz you need to submit it to work by 25 weeks, so get onto your midwife. I’ve not seen mine since 16 weeks and don’t see her again til 28 weeks (2nd baby), so she told me to ring eye surgery and request it in the weeks after my 20 week scan.

@GWhiteley I think a wax would be fine! I insisted on a shower to wash my hair and attempt to shave all my bits in early labour with my first. God only knows why as I don’t think the midwife was examining my hair line whilst she was down there 🤣🤣 but I felt better for it!
And yes, my sex thing is partly because I feel so unattractive. Massive boobs with dinner plate nipples, having to heave myself over... I mean, it’s not a great look 🤣🤣

@Noodles4Me there are definitely positions that work better! And to be fair, the sex is good when I do it... I just have zero desire to initiate anything. Think I need to force myself to keep it up whilst I’m not too whale like! I have to say, once baby came last time, I had very little desire partly first off because of the post partum bleeding, but then secondly, because I was breastfeeding, my boobs were leaking and I just felt massively self conscious! Thankfully the body settles down fairly quickly in the long run 😊😊

SillyBry · 16/05/2021 14:42

@Noodles4Me I meant to say, have you tried bio oil on your itches, I find it helps when my tummy gets itchy!

crobo87 · 16/05/2021 15:11

@Taybz I got mine after my 20 week scan when I saw the midwife.
Probably a good idea to ring your midwife and request it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I've bought some prunes even though I hate them 🤢🤢 but needs must lol x

Kirky658 · 16/05/2021 16:04

@taybz it's driving me mad having to put the pessaries in, don't like it!!! It's irritating because I have zero symptoms except maybe excess discharge. But hey ho. With the mat b1 I had to ring my midwife and pick up from the doctors, you need to give it to work prior to being 25 weeks I think it is xx

Taybz · 16/05/2021 17:06

Thanks everyone for your advice, I'll give my midwife a call to give her a push.

@Kirky658 if you don't mind me asking, is your discharge more yellowy or white? I've also got excess discharge but it's more yellowy and I'm starting to wonder if it's actually BV instead as the doctors didn't confirm it but rather just gave me the Canestan duo. I asked for the oral pills as the pessary just falls out! Apparently pregnant women can't have them. How fun is pregnancy?! 😅
